Soop's special Kitchen for kindly folk.
(1001 Posts)Welcome! Thank you all for making our Kitchen a super-special gathering place.
Enjoy!
and hugs galore.
Hi all from a dark, damp and gloomy S Hampshire, miserable day, but the voluntary phone was unexpectedly quiet and sorted out rapidly.
I nipped out to the library to return a two week loan and three trays of violas fell into my boot on the way back, fancy that!
I’ve pinched your recipe too Grandmabatty the odd stick of celery always confounds me, a head won’t get used by us, when we lived in Françe, no wrapping of veg, a stray, loose stick used to be in my trolley.
Quiz tonight, the penultimate, sadly our local is seeking a new land lady/lord/ person.
Positive news Yia but full of trepidation for you both 🌹
I’ll love you and leave you for now.
That's lovely to hear Grannygravy. Hopefully it'll continue. Dgs1 was extremely solicitous when he heard dgs2 had been unwell today, asking him what he's been eating, giving him a cuddle. It lasted until they got back to my house and they were annoying each other as usual 😂
I picked up The Imp from his first day at school, one of his teachers made a point of coming over to me and saying how kind he was to other children and that all of the teachers had commented on his constant use of please and thank you.
Fingers crossed it lasts, he is not known for his patience 🤣🤣🤣
YiaYia4 thinking of you both hike you navigate this horrible path (((hugs)))
As FGT said, Day by day Yiayia. It's a very challenging time for you both. Brook I hope it turns out! It lasts longer than soup which has onion in it.
Poor wee dgs2 had a dreadful dose of the scoots while in his cot. I had to wash him down standing in the bath. We think it's a reaction to the flu spray from Friday. He's neither up nor down though, which is good. Dgs1 had a slice of bread and chocolate spread. He helped me knead the dough yesterday and was really impressed when it rose. His school did a sponsored walk and he was very proud of himself. He's heading off to football soon. Then an hour later dd will pick up dgs2. Then I'll tidy up and have the remaining stovies. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.
“Day by day” Yia. “Day by day”.
Hi Lovely Kitcheners.
Just back from the hospital. The operation will be in the next few weeks. The surgeon explained the main problem is the blood clotting and how the liver copes. They won’t know how things will go until they start but, he’s confident that its the best option.Dh is very uptight as you can imagine so praying it will be very soon.
Thank you all for your kind words and support you are all the best.
Soop and Mr Soop I hope you also have news very soon.
Thanks so much for the recipe gbatty it’s in the slow cooker now, it smells lovely and we’ll be enjoying it this evening!
We dropped DGS off at school this morning, he’d been really good and it was lovely having him to stay over. He still comes in for his morning cuddle when he wakes up, even though he’s almost 11 and as big as me! My appointment afterwards at the eye clinic went ok, I’m free now for 4 months until my next appointment 😀
Pleased to hear you’re back home safely grannmarie, you’ve definitely inspired me to visit Copenhagen one day!
Hoping all going well for Yia’s DH today and sending gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner ❤️
A belated Happy Birthday Charleygirl. 💐 🎈🍀🍰🎂🥂
I bet that was a first - soggy boiled chips on your Birthday?
I am so pleased as I have been looking for a recipe. Thank you so much xx
Yia... Thinking of you today. 🤗
A late Good Evening from me!
Happy birthday, Charleygirl, I hope you've had a lovely day. 💐🎂
Hope tomorrow's consultation gives you a good plan, YiaYia.
NannyG4, I'm glad you've had a busy day and supportive company.
Thinking of Baggs and Doodle too.
GrannyIvy, 💐, some good, realistic advice here from Doodle and brook, hope it helps you.
Nice to hear of family meet ups and special meals.
I'm home, we returned to Edinburgh Airport this afternoon, boy was it cold and grey after the warm sunshine ☀ in wonderful Copenhagen! Thanks again for all your kind words about our wee sisters' break.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.
Hugs to you all who are in need of them. I hope the medical appointments go well.
Still sorting things out for the charity shops, with time pressure as all bedrooms needed next weekend!
The rain has finally arrived in Suffolk, but not the promised thunder.
Sleep well everyone
Hoping all goes as you would wish tomorrow yia, will be thinking about you both x
Hello kitchen people. It’s been a long busy day and I’m in bed. It was lovely to see our daughter for the weekend. She’s gone back to London.
I’m thinking of you all, especially those of you who are suffering.🌹
Many Happy Returns Charleygirl🎊🎁
Yiayia... I'm thinking of you and your DH I hope all goes smoothly tomorrow and you come away with a plan....
I've been to a harvest lunch and then out for supper. People are being so supportive to me, and not forgetting my lovely friends on this lovely kind thread. Thankyou again to ALL of you for your kindness, I'm blessed....
Sending love and prayers to each and everyone of you. Smell the roses 🌹🌹
Here you go Brook:
2 chicken stock cubes, 2 ham stock cubes, 2l boiling water then added 300g lentils, 2 big potatoes cubed, 2 celery sticks finely chopped, 1 leek finely chopped and 3 carrots ( 1 grated and 2 finely
chopped) then left it on low for a few hours and stirred every so often.
I usually have it at low for six hours.
I’ll be thinking of you both tomorrow Yia I really hope it goes well.
Could you share your recipe for lentil soup in the slow cooker please grandmabatty ? I’m ok with most soups but one that you do in the slow cooker would be great thanks 😀
Sorry to hear it’s difficult with your DD GranyIvy, I’ve two DDs and I do know exactly what you mean. Probably best to keep as busy as you can yourself. Sending a warm hug and hope you feel a bit better soon 💐
Hoping for a positive news after your DH sees the surgeon tomorrow Yia, I’ll be thinking of you both x
Happy Birthday to charleygirl hope you’ve enjoyed your special day 💐
Thanks Doodle you are probably right they do lead a busy life x
Sorry, my mistake about mr yias hospital visit tomorrow. I hope that the surgeon agrees that an operation can take place soon. Will be thinking of you both.
Raining here now, forecast to last all night, but we’ll see. My shed will be flooded if it carries on. Will see if there’s a plastic sheet in the garage as a temporary cover for the mower, until I can make room in the garage for it.
Yiayia thinking of you two as well. An anxious time but hope they have good news for you about surgery. Hope all goes well.
GrannyIvy sometimes the children just don’t keep in touch as much as we’d like. They have busy lives, time passes and they forget to phone or text. Hope you hear from her soon.
Im feeling quite sad tonight my oldest daughter is quite difficult and prickly really. She holds us at an arms length. Not heard anything from her in 3 weeks. I decided to leave her to contact me as I was making all the effort. If I don’t contact her it seems I get nothing. No falling out guess she doesn’t need us anymore. Sorry don’t know why I am sharing this really, probably as I have had two large wines … She knew we have been abroad on holiday the last week but no contact before or after our return.
