I don't mind people working for charities earning the market rate. The big ones are run as businesses and in many cases operate internationally, so they need people who can do that. Working for a charity is not the same as working out of charity.
I don't see the need for enormous salaries anywhere, though, so the market rate needn't be exorbitant. I'd like to see a rule that nobody can earn more than X times anyone else in a company, so everyone benefits from the company doing well. If there are people working full time for £20k there should be nobody in the same company earning over £200k, IMO.
