I plan to get a fried breakfast on arrival in Weymouth , which should keep me going for the period there which by coach trip is about 4 hours stay , and then a long journey back .
I addition my TV id now back to normal , whilst out someone from homes I live in did it so all TV channels back after a redoing of a 1st instalment .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Durham. It’s dry and bright here. A message from DD2 to say she’ll bring DGS2 here later, while his Daddy is at the first home game of the season. Howay the Lads!
Saves me a journey, but I’ll need to nip to M&S for some goodies for him. He loves fruit, but I don’t eat any, so never buy it.
👋🏻Ash
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a sunny but cool W Kent. Enjoy your day Mick.
So glad you are back Ash.
A visit to the local garden centre today. I always find August unsettling with family and friends away and clubs not running, however, I have been clearing stuff out and have a few bags for the charity shop.
Best wishes

Good morning from a dry, bright Co Durham. Getting ready for the arrival of the granddogs, dd2, SiL and dgd fly off to the Greek islands for two weeks.
A local country park hotel has a three day live music event which started yesterday. The music was extremely loud and reached every corner of our village. If I’d been 50 years younger I would have been there 😊. No doubt it’ll be the same today and tomorrow. Snow Patrol are headlining.
Glad to see you back, Ash I missed your posts. I envy you, Mizuna , I have happy memories of childhood holidays in Cornwall. Greyduster enjoy York it’s a beautiful place.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a sunny but cooler Suffolk( which for us is welcome after the intense heat of the last week or so).

Yesterday’s lunch with dear friends was a joyous occasion in spite of the very serious illness of one of them. He is an amazingly strong person both physically and emotionally and his sense of humour and fun is undiminished. A delightful nearly 3 hours.

Today I think we are off to the local common with our little dog and then coffee and cake in the cafe there.

Good to see you back Ash and I enjoyed your post today as always.

Good morning all, it is a breezy 12°C here, more like autumn. We haven't even had a summer!

Welcome back Ash and enjoy your trips Mick and Mizuna.
Mizuna, sounds a perfect day to me. As a student, I had adventures all over Europe, using a railcard. I love train journeys.

I was very unwell during the night, feverish and struggling to breathe. I ended up knocking over a glass of water, which was
beside the bed, waking DH up in the process. I don't think I will be doing much today.

I had a phone call from the P.P. yesterday, to tell me that the Bishop has announced clergy changes and he is being moved. It was good of him to let me know, before it became public knowledge.
Although difficult to work with at times, I have become used to his ways and will miss him, as will all the sacristans.
Our new priest is someone I've met on a few occasions. When I had my first heart attack, my then P.P. asked him to come and give me the Last Rites in hospital, which gave me great comfort, but the implications scared the life out of my children! They thought I was on my way out.

More recently, he baptised wee Babydoll. My experience of him is of a kind and gentle man.
However, like any new boss, he will want his own team and may make changes, this nay be the time to step back.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Good morning all from a fresher North Leicestershire.

DH and DS1 are off to their first football match of the season so I have an empty with the added benefit that their season ticket includes food so I don't have to do a fry up before they go.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another fine day ahead. Hoping it will be hay fever free, as it was yesterday. I went to Boots after dance classes yesterday and bought some hay fever.prevention eye drops. Let's hope they work!

A hop on the bus today for a top-up shop in M&S and Sainsbury's. Not much needed but it breaks the day up. Coffee and a snack to look forward to as well.
May cut the back grass when I get back.

Welcome back to Ash, glad you are feeling better.
Hope your trip to Weymouth goes well Mick.

The usual Saturday night dinner of steak and baked potato.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

cornergran Sat 17-Aug-24 07:48:07

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks like a sunny day ahead for our corner of Somerset.

Recall loving being by the harbour in Weymouth although I haven’t been for years. Enjoy your trip mick.

flowers. ash. Pleased you feel able to be back.

Garden pottering day here. I may tackle an over-full shed. Tomorrow we begin sorting our bedroom in preparation for carpet replacement. There will be skirting painting with my name on it so best to get outside today.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and sunny, it still looks breezy though.
So good to have you back with us Ash sorry to hear you’ve been struggling so much ❤️
We’re going out for breakfast today at the local garden centre and then nothing much else planned. I’m hoping to get the grass cut today and some more gardening done
Enjoy your rail trip mizuna I’d love to do that too and it sounds really good value
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ashcombe Sat 17-Aug-24 07:38:12

Sounds like a great idea for a day out, Mizuna! DH and I are big fans of rail travel …… and people watching! 👍

Mizuna Sat 17-Aug-24 07:23:38

Good morning from sunny Cornwall and hooray Ash, you're back 🎉! I'm just packing my backpack with food as I'm off on trains for the day. For £10, with my Senior Railcard, I can buy a Cornwall Ranger ticket which gives me scope to go anywhere in the county, plus Plymouth in Devon, for a whole day. Mostly I get to a station and take the next train wherever it's heading but will make sure I factor in St Ives, Looe and Newquay. I love stations and people-watching, which is half the fun.

RosesandLilac Sat 17-Aug-24 07:23:17

Good morning, it’s clear blue skies and sunshine here in south Glos, looking like another lovely day. There’s a definite autumnal tang to the air.
Enjoy your trip to Weymouth Mick, I love visiting there! I particularly like the harbour and wandering along the Promenade.
All the washing dried beautifully yesterday, the house is tidy and today I will do more bits in the garden.
I didn’t sleep well so happy to have a quiet day ahead. The dog and I will have an early walk.
I hope that the weekend goes well for you all 🌹

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Aug-24 07:22:44

Bellasnana thank you. We're at the toilet training step too with mixed success. I can't imagine how much of a challenge it would be with two!

Bellasnana Sat 17-Aug-24 07:18:54

Good morning from Malta where it’s still too darn hot!

Ashcombe, welcome back! You were missed.🤗💝

Yesterday the boys came over and we got the paddling pool out along with a bag of toys. They were very happy playing in the water and it was lovely having them here.

Littlest seems to have got the hang of potty training but his brother hasn’t a clue so DD3 is leaving him for now and concentrating on one at a time!

No plans today. I have been feeling so tired these past few days and don’t seem to have any energy. However, I will take down my bedroom curtain and wash it before hanging it up wet, it will soon dry in this crazy heat.

Enjoy your day trip Mick. Another place I’ve never been, and Greyduster enjoy York. My mum was from York and we spent our school holidays there at our grandparents. Such happy memories, I still love the city.

Grandmabatty lovely story about your dgs ! 😂😂

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Redcar Sat 17-Aug-24 07:15:02

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s cool but dry and sunny. I hope you enjoy your trip to Weymouth mick and also hope you find a good breakfast!
ash I’m pleased to see you back and that you have a reason for feeling low at times.
Yesterday I did some gardening, although not much can be done while the ground is so dry. Then sat and read all afternoon, not sure why I always feel guilty doing that! I’ve got a load of washing on and will change the sheets- exciting stuff, but it will all dry quickly outside. Family may visit this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone.

DanniRae Sat 17-Aug-24 07:05:00

Very glad you are back Ash
Here are some flowers for you x

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Aug-24 07:01:42

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and wet. The breeze of the last few days has disappeared. Ash I'm glad you are feeling better. Mick enjoy your trip.
Yesterday was such a good day with dgs2. We didn't go anywhere-he wanted to stay at gammas house - but we played in the garden, went for a wee walk and played with cars and trains. He decided he was going to marry me and got a book from the bookcase to do the job properly 😂 I had a fish supper for dinner as a treat and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's been a while.
Today I will go to Aldi and do my usual Saturday housework. There will be much pottering indoors if the rain keeps up. Have a good day all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 17-Aug-24 06:34:29

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I should have been meeting my friend for lunch today today - the one who misbehaves in restaurants - but she had to cancel. So I’m not sure now. OH has to visit his bees and elder son and granddaughter may have a quiet day.

Have a good day everyone. Ash 🌹

Greyduster Sat 17-Aug-24 06:21:01

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is getting its act together here in South Yorkshire. Enjoy your trip today, Mick. Ash so pleased to see you back and that you’re feeling better💐.
Yesterday was a quiet day of bitting and batting for me and a very early night as for some reason I was exhausted. Today I’m going up to York with GS and his parents. He’s going for another look at the university and I’m going along for the ride. Hopefully, we’ll have time for lunch and a look round the city centre or a walk along the river before we come home. I know York quite well.
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Sat 17-Aug-24 06:20:26

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and a bit cooler today

Ash flowers

I didn`t go out for a walk yesterday, suddenly it was too hot and too sunny and it would have meant covering up in my solar blocking clothes. I preferred to glide around the house in my cool kaftan

I stayed in and had a nice day, I spent a long time altering a pattern to accommodate me `going south` and becoming lighter in weight. Very challenging and involving princess seams. All done to my satisfaction now

Today I want to get out on a cycle ride and will do as soon as it is warm enough, hopefully around 8am, then pottering for the rest of the day

Have a good day

Ashcombe Sat 17-Aug-24 06:10:16

Thank you both for your kind responses. 🥰

NannyG4 Sat 17-Aug-24 06:04:40

💐💐💐 For Ashcombe, I don't post often , more of a lurker but send you love and prayers x

grandMattie Sat 17-Aug-24 06:02:49

My dear Ash, I’m so glad you are feeling more positive and have figured out why you have felt so different. Understanding one’s condition helps enormously with coping. 🫂

Ashcombe Sat 17-Aug-24 05:57:24

Good morning, everyone, from a fine looking start in Torbay.

I’m glad your TV is now behaving, Mick, and safe and enjoyable travels today

Firstly, thank you very much for the kind, supportive comments, private messages, emails, online cards and prayers you have offered to help me through a difficult patch causing me to take a short break from this forum. It was so thoughtful of folk to be in contact to offer helpful advice.

Recently, I have also found information on the Stroke Association website useful. In the past I have had two TIA’s, neither of which was recognised at the time. The first one was misdiagnosed as labyrinthitis, back in August, 2021 and the second was probably when I had open heart surgery in October, 2022. It was only when a deterioration in my field of vision was found last November that they were diagnosed retrospectively, confirmed by a brain scan earlier this year.

My research, including joining an online support meeting for stroke survivors this week, has helped me understand that my emotional upsets are a common after effect of having mini strokes as well as heart surgery. Alongside my volatile emotions are various other concerns which have not helped matters.

Anyway, I think I’ve slightly turned a corner this week despite DH returning to France for some weeks as he has to supervise builders repairing a roof besides pursuing an appointment with a pulmonologist, following a respiratory infection last Winter which has weakened his chest. Further medical appointments for me prevent me from joining him.

Thank you, everyone, and enjoy your weekend. 🦩💐🦩🥰

grandMattie Sat 17-Aug-24 05:31:03

Good morning from Bristol. We are promised sunshine today but it was pretty chilly overnight.
I’m glad your TV is now working properly, Mick, and hope you enjoy your little jaunt.
I had a quiet day yesterday, feeling extraordinarily tired, so did very little, though I did wash one of my winter coats.
The usual coffee and chat in church this morning and quiet afternoon beckon.
Enjoy your weekend, Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
