Moving lavender

Has anyone had any success in moving lavender ? I have a significant amount, several plants now merged together, that are producing lovely blooms but I’d like to move them.
I do know that lavender doesn’t like to be divided and should be lifted with minimal root disturbance but this patch is already over two metres long and is probably destined to stay where it is.
In that respect I’ve potentially answered my own question but I am curious to know if anyone has ever moved lavender successfully and how they went about it.

I can’t give a definite answer as I’ve never moved Lavender, but now is a good time to take cuttings. I’d take half a dozen, hopefully they’ll strike and you’ll have some fresh plants. They grow and bloom quite quickly.

I successfully moved a small lavender plant earlier this year as its old position was becoming too shady. Your plants sound as if they are large and well established, so I'd be inclined to take cuttings. You could do both - moving the old plants and also taking cuttings - all bases covered!

I don't think that moving anything in the middle of a drought/heatwave would be a particularly good idea.

Yes, take cuttings now, but I'd wait until autumn to move established plants when growth is slowing and the soil is, hopefully, less dry though still warm. Or leave it until spring.
