Wishing a very Happy Wedding Anniversary to “Urms and her DH”.
An achievement indeed.
We went to Nerja with our family for ours and it is a very happy memory.

Good morning (just about) from a windy north yorkshire. Been a slow start today but plodding along. Hunting for calendar, diary etc which seem to have disappeared for some reason. Collected library books up to go and return some and renew others. Plenty of jobs to do but still quite creaky so am going off to the library and to get a few things and hope that I shall loosen up enough to get down to some clearing up later on. Have a good day everyone

Good morning from a grey and drizzly place in England. I like the sound of rain as it filters through the trees, like a permanent gentle shower

Wishing you all a great day.

Good morning Mick and all. It is raining here in West Sussex by the sea. It poured most of yesterday. It may dry up soon before the next lot comes along.

I am still recovering from my head injury and the least activity tires me out. I have however, managed to do quite a bit of ‘sorting’ of stuff - mainly books and papers. I am now on to letters, of which there are three shoeboxes worth, dating back to the 1970s. I keep letters and Christmas cards with notes, filed by person/family. We have moved around the UK quite a bit and it has always been important to us to keep in touch with friends in the various places. Sometimes I use them as a reminder if I am going to see someone after a long period. Anyway, I thought it was time to prune the letters a bit so I am reading through and enjoying the reminders of times past.

Good to hear your recent mammogram was clear, Bluesapphire.
Oops, I hope your outbuildings have remained dry inside 🤞
GrannySomerset, hope your painful back improves speedily.
Marydoll, I hope you get some positive info from your GP 🌼
EkwaNimitee, please ignore the puritanical conscience and have a lovely indulgent day (or two, or three!)!
Whitewavemark, lovely to see you posting here again and sharing your beautiful garden with us. I didn’t know amaryllis could grow outdoors in this country but you do say they will be in a warm spot.
FGT, Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary to you both, for tomorrow 🥂

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Not coughing so much, but an aching side and feeling rather under the (nice) weather.

Yesterday with DD to visit her friend recovery from surgery and today DD will set up my new copier/printer. Also a call to the medical secretary to see if I have any dates for my hernia and abscess ops. It’s so hard to plan anything not knowing.
DD leaves today for the south, her visits go by so quickly.

Hello again FGT!👏, have a good day Ash and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from a sunny Co Armagh
I’m lazy this morning, sitting in pjs just now , we haven’t put the heating on yet and our bathroom is cold !
No plans , I’ve a few phone calls to make , put off as I couldn’t wear my hearing aids due to infection , but one ear seems to be functioning and I wore my aid last night at the first talk of the season by our local history society
I’ll have to get out and enjoy the brightness
Enjoy your day all !

Good morning all from a sunny Angus coast. Sunny does not mean warm at the moment, but it's supposed to be 4° warmer than yesterday - which won't be difficult!
Glad you're back fgt with all problems solved, but you'll always be Urms in my little mind! The happiest of Golden Weddings tomorrow.
Mizuna you do get around! Enjoy your meet-up with Ash.
What a beautiful word painting Whitewave. I was transported to your wonderful autumn garden and really didn't want to leave!
Yesterday was unbelievably chilly here in a brisk northeasterly breeze. I probably felt it more after the previous night's little or no sleep. So I snuggled down under a cosy faux fur throw and dozed the afternoon away - the joys of being old elderly!
Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch and we're going up the road to the distillery - as you do! The barley from the field behind my house is used there, so I feel I have a vested interest 😉. Actually its coffee shop/restaurant is on top of a hill looking out to sea so there will be a beautiful view on this sunny day - hence our choice of venue.
DGD3 got home safely last night after her first solo drive down to see her mum in Nottinghamshire. She's not very happy at her job at the Hydro now. She's worked there after school and on weekends since she was 15, but she's feeling the difference this summer now she's 18 and being treated as an adult! The money is good though and helps her run her little car, so it will be a big decision for her to give that up. Welcome to the world, little one. Anyway, back to uni for her in a couple of weeks so she will definitely have to slash her hours then.
Right, off I go to see if I can make myself into a smart "Lady who Lunches". Have a good day everyone and try to rest those aches and pains away.

BlueSapphire Fri 06-Sept-24 09:24:37

Good morning everyone from a dry but very grey Northampton, just heard on Alexa and the radio that it is supposed to reach the heights of 25/26° today.....

A.whole day in yesterday which allowed me.to (reluctantly) get on with a few jobs around the house. Cleaned the.en-suite, .and damp-dusted the bedrooms. Cleaned the upstairs windows and then made a huge batch of chilli in the slow cooker. Had a portion for dinner last night, and there are six more waiting to go in the freezer.

A nervously awaited letter yesterday from the hospital to say that my routine mammogram last week was all clear and normal. I do check them every month - a GP once told me to check monthly on my birthdate, so the 20th of each month that's what I do.

No dance today as our teacher is still on holiday, so will venture down to the little shopping centre on the bus. Coffee and a snack, then a top-up shop, and a look around Next and Sainsbury's clothes.
Chicken curry for dinner tonight.

How lovely to see FGT back!

Have a lovely Friday everyone.

harrigran Fri 06-Sept-24 09:23:01

Good morning from a sunny NE after 24 hours of rain. It was so heavy last night I didn't put the bin out, wasn't worth getting soaked for.
Today my friend and I are going out for lunch, a new restaurant in a regeneration area. The menu looks like overpriced steaks to me but hopefully there will be something to my taste without the chilli.
Enjoy your meet up Mizuna and Ashcombe 🫖🍰

Beechnut Fri 06-Sept-24 09:01:52

Good morning everyone. Very very wet on Severnside.
I have to go out a do my weekly shop, the fridge is almost bare.

👋Fried lovely to see you back and many congratulations on your golden wedding anniversary 🥂

I’ve been fancying fish and chips so I think I’ll do some today.

Have a good day all ☔️

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 06-Sept-24 08:54:20

Good morning from a very wet Oxfordshire, torrential rain here at 6am which woke me up ( if you are heading our way to the Garden Centre, LLFL the roads have a lot of standing water and you will definitely need your wellies for the pick your own, (even if most of the fruit is under Polytunnels)

I have to go out and check the outbuildings for leaks, MzOops has the cabin full of her stuff ( literally) and the lean to has a lot of building materials ready for the Bathroom refit, none of which needs water on them. Fingers crossed.

Later MissOops will be here to borrow my car until Nephew has bought his own, he has moved almost an hour away so we won’t see him very often, as he has stopped speaking to me that isn’t any great problem. Let’s hope he will at least thank MrOops for his generous ‘house warming’ gift. We will see.

Good to see you back FGT
have a good day Ash and Mizuna

The GCs are just back from their travels abroad so I have one less thing to worry about!

Have a good and dry day everyone.

Stilllearning Fri 06-Sept-24 08:39:06

Morning from Connel, getting ready to head home after a lovely few days with DD and family. The ‘children’, (one of them 6ft 2ins) are so funny and great company, I’m looking forward to coming back.

No time to write further, my bus awaits so I wish everyone the best day.

Jaxjacky Fri 06-Sept-24 08:38:25

Morning from a wet S Hants, storms predicted for the day. Good to see FGT and WWM2 back posting this morning.
Have a great meet up Ash and Mizuna happy holidays Bonny.
Yesterday was very wet too, my car was dropped off for its MOT, we’ll collect it later after grocery delivery. Meanwhile I’ll be online, some banking to be sorted and forms to be completed for MrJ who will be doing some voluntary work.

Good morning from Shanklin, IOW. We came over yesterday, it poured with rain all day, obscuring any possible views. But our accommodation is very comfortable and overlooking the sea. Today at the moment it’s dry with the sky looking just a bit brighter. I hope Gingster enjoys her IOW visit today whatever the weather decides to do. We’re off to visit Osborne House.
I’ve just skimmed this morning’s posts and will read later, but am delighted to see FGT2 posting!

GrannySomerset Fri 06-Sept-24 08:22:45

Disturbed night because of a painful back - no obvious cause and I am fed up. Hope I am able to stagger up to the village for the oldies’ coffee morning if pain killers are effective. Not good.

Liberty Fri 06-Sept-24 08:22:40

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk day.

Off later to meet one of my dearest friends for coffee and then lunch for an overdue catch up. Because of family commitments we haven’t seen each other for several weeks so we’ll chat for hours no doubt.

All DGC now back at school and activities resuming. Although it is lovely to spend more time with family,I do love my regular life with its predictability.

EkwaNimitee Fri 06-Sept-24 08:22:04

Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish, brightish Carlisle.
It will probably be another day like yesterday, cool, grey but dry. After a Tesco delivery after lunch, I got the front lawn mowed. It's showing signs of needing another feed. I've never had such a demanding lawn, luckily it's only a small one.
I finished the re-read of my book, really only a rapid skim. Very tedious the second time around, I don't why I kept it on my Kindle, fortunately, it was a free one. I think I'll catch up with my magazines today and peruse my travel brochures.

Today, there's nothing I have to do.....I wonder if my puritanical nature will let me do nice things all day! I will probably go for a walk at one point if it remains dry.

Have a good day everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 06-Sept-24 08:20:40

Another lovely post WhiteWave thank you! I do enjoy hearing about your garden - probably more so because I don’t have one any more. Just delightful to read.

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 06-Sept-24 08:03:06

Morning from a brighter Co Durham.
Glad to see fgt back, and many congratulations to you both on your Golden Wedding tomorrow.
Thank you, Maria59 , after reading your comment I dived into the train app and realised the Saturday trains were also subject to delay and the Monday trains were showing as sold out ! I cancelled our tickets and got a full refund ( minus £5 handling fee). We hope to rearrange for three weeks time.
Quiet day today, my usual Friday evening with my friend is off as she’s in sunnier climes for a week.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 06-Sept-24 08:01:48

Good morning from a wet South Downs.

The sun is lower now in the sky and the light is less intense, illuminating the reds and and purples. Summer is slowly winding down and filling the garden with autumn colours of gold, red glossy berries and the last of the perennials. The bees who have gradually increased in big numbers throughout the summer are scrambling for the last lot of nectar and pollen. Some will soon die perhaps leaving only the new queen to slumber away the winter, full of next years young, others will hibernate in their nests feeding on the gathered honey, and yet others -the buff-tailed bumble will feed all winter long. So the winter honeysuckle and winter clematis and winter heather is a huge magnet, and a vital resource for them.

I can hear thunder in the distance so another day of rain, perhaps it will clear later?

I have nothing planned except to plant 3 large amaryllis bulbs against a sunny hot fence if I get the chance. Not much digging involved as they like their necks above soil level.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony.

Good morning from Durham. Another grey, miserable day, but not actually raining. Hair cut yesterday and my hairdresser of 50 years (off, but mainly on) is retiring in November. She is recommending another stylist in the salon.
DD2 arrived home last night - the flight up from Heathrow was delayed by 90 minutes.
Today, I’m meeting a friend at a local garden centre and later, taking Little Dog back to DD2’s.
I need to sort out some clothes for tomorrow’s holiday.
So pleased FGT2 and UTBB have had their access problems resolved.
Best wishes to all. X

Sar53 Fri 06-Sept-24 07:57:58

It's good to see FGT back, you were missed.

Sar53 Fri 06-Sept-24 07:56:44

Good morning from a very misty, dull day on the Essex coast. We are due rain later.
I'm going to spend the weekend with DD2 and family in Kent today. A journey by train, tube and bus. I only take a rucksack so it's not too arduous. I haven't seen them for months so I'm very excited.
DD1 rang me yesterday on her walk to school in a bit of a state. I managed to calm her down and we had a good chat. She is finding life a bit tough at the moment.
Have a great weekend everyone and let's hope the sun makes an appearance at some stage xx

grandMattie Fri 06-Sept-24 07:54:57

You’re back, FGT! Hip hip hurray 👏👏👏👏❤️

GrannyGravy13 Fri 06-Sept-24 07:48:57

Morning everyone from a grey S E Essex, rain is forecast.

We have The Imp, unfortunately he is rather cross as his brother is back at school and he doesn’t start in reception until 23/09, it’s going to be a long two weeks 🤣

It was so good and reassuring to see FriedGreenTonatoes2 posting last night 🙋‍♀️

Out to a local Thai restaurant this evening with friends.

Enjoy your meet-up Ashcombe & Mizuna

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️
