Good morning from cloudy Lancashire. It feels rather chilly but it’s warm under my duvet. I had a good night do fingers crossed my belly will be quiet today. My eyes haven’t woken up yet and I’m having trouble resting what I’m typing, please ecxuse any typos.

Happy Monday 🌻

Good morning all and it’s dull and Misty here on the Suffolk coast.
The WiFi is very hit or miss here , perhaps weather related.🤷🏻‍♀️.

I had a great Hovercraft experience to the Isle of Wight on Friday , gorgeous meal in an ‘posh’ hotel and a bus trip around the island. Lovely day although it rained the whole time. Not a drop fell back home. 🙄.
Saturday we travelled up here early to our seaside bolt hole and ds2 and family had already settled in and served us coffee and pastries.

The weather was great until they left here in sunshine, yesterday afternoon and they had a deluge on their journey home.
We were dozing when our neighbour knocked with her wash basket telling us our washing was getting soaked . Bless her!

A lovely weekend with good company .

We’ll stay on until Friday and enjoy the peace.

Good luck to Iris. It isn’t easy for youngsters especially with added problems. She sounds a strong character and hopefully will see her way through. 🙏.

You make me feel so tired (and lazy) Karma. 😬😳😂

Condolences Marydoll. 🙏.

Happy hols to all those getting ready to go. 🛬🚢⛵️🚤🏖️🌳✈️👋.

Sad news Marydoll 💐

Greyduster Mon 09-Sept-24 08:01:20

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Grey and damp in South Yorkshire. We had rain aplenty yesterday morning, but the afternoon was fine and warm. The two curries I made went down very well; not a scrap left of either. I always make a vege one for DD and to be honest, I enjoy them more than the meat ones these days. Today I’m going to start making my elderberry cordial, sterilising the bottles and all the equipment. It’s a faff but the end result is lovely and a very healthy addition to the winter medicine chest.
I’m sure Iris will settle, GM; it’s early days. In my experience, though they may start out with the same friends as they had at junior school, they very soon make new ones🤞🏻. GS has only one friend he has kept all the way from nursery; all his other friends came from different schools.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning from a much brighter looking Black Country.

Walking group walk this morning, then Line Dancing with my friend this afternoon. So back to normality!

DGD2 (16) starts 6th form college today here in my town, so a good hours journey on a coach for her. She had an induction afternoon last week, where she said she made new friends, so all sounds good. But 2 of her friends from school are starting there too.

So sorry to hear your upsetting news Marydoll

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning all from cool grey N Bucks. Autumn with a vengeance! At least it’s not as bad as yesterday when the thunder and hail was like a topical storm. I was going to Birmingham and as I eventually plucked up my courage to set off, there were drifts of hailstones lining the road out of the village. Not the easiest drive, peering through the stair rods and spray on the motorway but fortunately Brum was sunny, if not exactly warm, so our family lunch could be outside after all.
Sincere sympathy to Marydoll and her DH, a sudden bereavement like that can be particularly hard when it stirs up deeper emotions.
Off on your Holibobs again, FGT2 ? Why anybody would want to swap unseasonably dark wet and windy England in September for sunny Spain I cannot imagine! hmm
Have a lovely time though!
The new school year is difficult at the best of times isn’t it? GS 2 (12) told me yesterday that the first 2 days back were brilliant “then it got back to normal” with a grimace. He is happy though but a realist.
Wishing you all a kindly start to your week.

Good morning from a dull Suffolk after a glorious day yesterday. We met DS and family for a fish and chip lunch in Dunwich which was as busy as it is during the height of the summer holidays.

The sea was quite rough and several colours with bright white Sloan. DS3 was fascinated and was reluctant to leave and their dog kept leaping into the water. Ours doesn’t approve of water!

Only just up so haven’t yet read the posts but shall do so now with the cuppa DH has just given me.

Hope today is a positive one for all.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and calm out. There's high clouds. Marydoll it's such a sad story. My sympathy for you all. GrandMattie poor Iris. Transitions can be really hard when you are young and neuro divergent.
Yesterday I was a tornado in the morning, whizzing about getting shopping, housework and ironing done Then in the afternoon I headed to Stirling university. It is a beautiful campus, set in country with a lovely lake. It has grown significantly since the last time I was there and I got a bit lost once I'd left the car park but followed people who I suspected were going there and I was right. The film was beautifully done. There were a few really poignant moments which brought me close to tears. I was interviewed in it and it was a touch of light relief 😂. I even have my name in the credits. Overall the film did my art tutor proud. It has a public showing in a couple of weeks then it'll be shown at film festivals. On the way out, a lovely boy got chatting as I was lost-again! He was very sweet and helpful and a wee bit lost himself I think, in a different way. Afterwards I was invited to my tutor's house for drinks and nibbles. I met some lovely interesting people.
Today I have had a long lie! Dd is on holiday and has the boys. It's a bank holiday here. I also slept well which was a bonus. I will head out to buy a couple of gift cards and later visit mum. Have a good day all

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 09-Sept-24 08:15:21

Oh Marydoll! Beyond difficult.

No wonder there are wars in the world between nations when families (who are emotionally tied to love one another) can’t even get on .

Grannyme6 Mon 09-Sept-24 08:20:05

Good morning from the Isle of Wight. The sun finally came out yesterday afternoon when we were at Ventnor Botanical Gardens and were thrilled to watch two red squirrels clearly enjoying a chase game in the trees. Ferry back to Lymington this afternoon.

Sar53 Mon 09-Sept-24 08:23:25

Good morning from DD2'S house in Kent. It's grey and miserable looking outside.
DD has taken DGD5 to school, DGD1 is still in bed. She starts college next week so is making the most of not having to get up early this week.
I shall be going home tomorrow after a lovely weekend here. We visited SIL'S dad yesterday, he has Alzheimers, but was very pleased we had come to see him.
Enjoy your holidays to everyone who is off to warmer climes.
Sorry to hear your news Marydoll, family estrangement is tough.
I hope things work out for Iris GM. We have a neuro diverse DGD and it can be very challenging for them at school.
Have a good day everyone xx

Taichinan Mon 09-Sept-24 08:25:13

Good morning all from the Angus coast from where the fog has lifted (at last!), the sun is making a valiant effort to break through and there are patches of blue sky.
So sorry to hear about your b-i-l Marydoll. He sounds to have been a difficult person and the estrangement leaves those he has left behind with such mixed feelings. flowers for you all.
Poor Iris, grandmattie. It's such a difficult time for her.
Urms I love that picture! I was always that little monkey on the end - it made for difficult times and infuriated my mother! But I survived 😉
Enjoy your week walking in the New Forest Whitewave. Is Tofu going to the cattery? If so, there will be one very happy squirrel in your garden!
Today I really must get on - the fog made yesterday for me a day of total inaction. How can weather have such a profound affect? So off I trot to do two days worth of pottering. Enjoy your day x

aggie Mon 09-Sept-24 08:34:22

It’s a chilly Good Morning from Co Armagh today , DD is working from home here so I have banished her from the kitchen as I have a washing to do
Thoughts and prayers for everyone x

GrannySomerset Mon 09-Sept-24 08:37:13

A sunny morning and a dryish forecast so the washing can go outside for a change. It feels as though that hasn’t been possible for so much of this summer so every chance should be seized. Not a lot planned apart from several phone calls and a hunt for a solicitor to talk to about redoing my will. Our previous firm has been subsumed by a much larger one whose response to my enquiry has been to email a long form to be followed up by a 20 minute phone call, cost £800. Surely I can do better?

cornergran Mon 09-Sept-24 08:37:15

So sorry marydoll. A beyond difficult situation for you all x

Georgesgran Mon 09-Sept-24 08:44:16

Good morning from sunny Cyprus - another scorcher.
Weather at home had been miserable for the Great North Run, although difficult to dampen the overall atmosphere.
Nothing planned today - maybe a walk to the Harbour for some liquid refreshments 🥂
Sad news Marydoll.
Best wishes to all. X

Jaxjacky Mon 09-Sept-24 08:45:47

Morning from a dry, cloudy S Hants. gMattie Iris and your grandson Grammaretto have my sympathy, Imogen with her autism is finding the thought of college today difficult, there have been tears.
Have a wonderful time Whitewave the forest will be very pretty, you too FGT, I stayed in Es Cana en famille when I was 16!
No phones today as we’re away tomorrow, off to Worthing, I just love being near the sea.

EkwaNimitee Mon 09-Sept-24 08:59:37

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very wet Carlisle.

Not a good start to the morning for me, I came down to the kitchen to find a large slug crawling across the floor. I am slug-phobic! But needs must...I picked it up in a paper towel and dropped it by the drain. I think they are getting their own back because I've been waging war on them this week. How it got in is the puzzle as this is a tightly sealed new house. I can only think it was in some pots I brought in a few days ago but what has it been doing since then?
As it looks like being an indoor day, I will crack on with the bedlinen changing and cleaning plus there's a pile of filing to do.

Upsetting news for you both Marydoll even if that brother was estranged.

hollysteers Mon 09-Sept-24 09:02:40

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
A sorting out papers day yesterday and then a three hour (!) FaceTime with old friend celebrating his birthday. We could still be talking now…

Off to the dentist to see if my referral has been made to the hospital for the removal of the failed extraction/ abscess. I may go private as it could interfere with my hernia op and I have had the pre op for that. I’m fed up with all the waiting around and unable to make definite plans.

Bon voyage FGT, hope you feel better Blossoming and thoughts to all the troubled youngsters with their new starts🌺

baubles Mon 09-Sept-24 09:05:22

Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.

I feel for your Iris gM, I hope things get easier for her.

Marydoll, I’m sorry to hear that, it must be a difficult situation.

Have a wonderful, relaxing holiday FGT and good luck with the packing.

I help to count the collections after Mass, yesterday there were several different lots of cash to count and enter on the sheet. I was under pressure as the person who actually banks the money was in a desperate hurry to get away resulting in me making a couple of mistakes and having to cross out my additions. The sheet is messy and I’m hoping the amount I’ve entered in the pay in book is correct. I feel slow and stupid and wish I had had time to redo the whole thing. confused

Our yarn group is making crocheted trefoils for the local guides and I got a few done last night but had to dig out a bright craft light as the yarn is dark blue and I couldn’t see a blessed thing.

Yesterday was a definite ‘feeling old day’!

I still haven’t sorted out all the stuff in bags in the garage so hopefully I’ll find the motivation today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Mon 09-Sept-24 09:30:09

Marydoll thoughts with you at a difficult time.
I hope things start to settle soon for Itis gM

harrigran Mon 09-Sept-24 09:32:11

A late good morning from a dry NE, for now.
I first woke at 6am when DD sent me a message but fell asleep again. I don't know why I am so sleepy, I did absolutely nothing yesterday but read and watch TV.
DD sent me photos from the Proms, she was in one of the photos. Her seat was so close to the stage she said she could read the 1st violinists score ☺️
I should do some laundry but still feel a bit lazy.
Sorry to hear disturbing news Marydoll, not pleasant news to be told.
Have the best day you can.

Grammaretto Mon 09-Sept-24 09:42:48

That news must have been a huge shock Marydoll. Thinking of you.

Hiraeth Mon 09-Sept-24 10:04:01

Ooh friedgreentomatoes Es Cana is where I met my beloved late husband 1976!
A Welsh girl fell in love with a German .
Great memories . Enjoy every moment .

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 09-Sept-24 10:45:06

Marydoll💐. Happy holidays to those already there, or travelling. Hope those under the weather get well soon.
A dull, damp day here and not much planned. DD1 is returning our car which she’s had for a week, and Nectar have reimbursed the £40 stolen last month.
Early dinner for dh and ma at a local pub/restaurant. Missed the last two Mondays so really looking forward to it.
Have a good day everyone.
