Good morning from a dark Bristol. Today is set to be mostly dry!
The stuffed lemur toy was to be put in a Noah’s ark, part of the Creation month in CofE churches. We had puffins, owls, tigers….
Iris is neurally divergent so dreads anything mathematical and spelling. The school offers help but, together with her (now less obvious) physical disability, singles her out a bit more. Naturally, she hates it. That and the fact that most of her friends are now in a different school…
Today, I’m going to help sort out the toddler toys/equipment.in the afternoon, I’m going to a friend’s house to help myself to some Bramley apples. I’m much taller than her, so should find it easier! 😀

Good morning from dry s somerset

I plan to make tomato sauce from my frozen and fresh tomatoes today and I need to start to clean my kitchen cupboards, they all need a sort and wipe down inside, part of my winter-cleaning process

A walk later this morning as the lanes will be too muddy for nice cycling. ILaterI have the cuffs to make for my jacket, it fits very nicely and is cosy, suits me. This afternoon I need to give my sewing room and machines a very good clean, this soft corduroy has shed everywhere plus there are many many bits from the never-ending upicking I had to do

Washing will be on the line today too with a nice purposeful day ahead of me

Have a good day

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay.

Yesterday, I managed to assemble the two tables to make up the new nest of tables, which arrived on Thursday. Breaking into the box in which they arrived was the hardest part! All credit to the manufacturer (in Vietnam) as they came with clear instructions and all the required bolts and washers. I chose them, along with a sideboard and coffee table, online from Dunelm and I’m delighted. So far, I’ve had no follow up emails requesting a review either which is a refreshing change from many companies.

This morning, I have a blood test then I’ll attend Move It Or Lose It, although moving still isn’t easy for my right knee or ankle.

Belated birthday greetings to monk08 and I hope Blossoming continues to feel better.
I expect Iris will soon find new friends to help her settle in high school. It must be hard to be treated differently at an age when young people can be self conscious, grandMattie.

I hope today is the start of a good week for you all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is forecast to be dry. Not looked out yet to check.

Goodness, yesterday was a wet and miserable day. After a lie in the admin was completed, other than preparing a meal the rest of the day was spent reading.

Off to meet a friend this morning, dithering about the best way to travel. A 30 minute walk and an hour on a bus or drive for 45 minutes to a park and ride. Mr C was no help yesterday. When asked for his opinion he helpfully suggested I go whichever way suited me best. Both have disadvantages. Oh well, I’ll get there one way or the other, I feel coin tossing coming on. Minor in the scheme of things and whichever way I travel it will be good to catch up with a friend.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's going to be sunny today. I'll take a visit to our town's quirky independent department store that sells almost everything, to buy weed-suppressant material for my neighbour's patio. Aiming to complete that task before my daughter arrives next Monday, after which time I'll be totally distracted. 😁

Good morning from Malta where it is, at long last, bucketing down with rain! Still a hot 34°C though so no relief yet.

Poor little Iris, I hope she settles and finds some good friends. Starting school is daunting at the best of times but so much harder if your pals are not with you.

Thanks for all your well wishes for DD1. She still looked peaky but managed to get to her cousin in Naples. They get along like sisters so it will do her good to have a few days catching up.

We had a quiet day yesterday but the high spot for me was watching the men’s finals last night. Delighted Sinner won.

Not sure what today will bring. We need to find somewhere that fixes hearing aids as my poor friend is struggling without hers. They have dried out now but still don’t work.

I’m afraid to drive while this torrential rain is happening so we will wait and see if it clears.

Wishing everyone a good day.☀️

Good morning from a dry!! South Downs, although to be fair, it was a reasonable day yesterday.

DH is annoyed because his carrots which have been so good this year, have succumbed to blight as a result of the warm wet weather. It remains to be seen if they are edible, but they certainly won’t be growing any bigger I should have thought. Still his cauliflowers and cabbages are huge! We still have beans to pick, onions and garlic stored, beetroot by the ton and masses of parsley which loves this wet weather. It has been a peculiar year vegetable-wise though.

Yesterday Tofu and the squirrel had a tail flicking stand-off. Tofu was sat next to the squirrels box of goodies and the squirrel tried his best to show his annoyance, but naturally Tofu won. Tofu is now lord of all he surveys, since Duncan’s demise. Duncan would have been so annoyed.

I didn’t get to plant the amaryllis, so they will now have to wait until we return from our New Forest walking break. We will have to take it gently though, as DH had new replacement pacemaker inserted last Thursday, so although he has recovered well, I think overdoing it would be a mistake. We plan walking every day to return to our accommodation for late afternoon rest after lunch out somewhere.

Well enjoy your day all and possibly week. Not sure about wi-fi this week

Peace and harmony

Good morning from a cloudy but still warm Cambridgeshire. The windows were open wide all night and the fan needed. We did have rain overnight which the garden needed.
Yesterday I did manage to clean the shower room and tidy up a bit in the garden but not much else achieved really as just felt very weary. I sat in the sun reading my book for most of the afternoon feeling a little guilty but ……
The GC will arrive very soon and it will be a full on day but it is the only childcare day this week.
The rest of the week will be spent preparing for our imminent departure on our last holiday of the year.
Wishing a happy Monday to all 💐

brook2704 Mon 09-Sept-24 07:13:12

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but dry
We’ve got DGS here so it’s the school run first thing and then back home for some tidying up. We’re also doing school pick up later so it’ll be a busy day
Enjoy your walking break wwm, don’t overdo things!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it is wet out. Not sure if it’s still raining, or how much rain we’ve had, but it’s welcome anyway.
A problem with my house insurance payments to sort out today, which is a nuisance.
grandmattie life must feel very hard for Iris at the moment. It’s a big step from junior to senior schools, especially if your friends are at a different school. I hope that her school will provide her with the help she needs to cope with the maths and spelling.
Cornergran what a decision to have to make regarding your travel!
A walk to the village shops this morning, otherwise nothing planned.
Have a good day everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 09-Sept-24 07:18:47

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Our cleaner is due this morning. She is quick and efficient.

I will be driving down to be Worthing late morning. It is my uncle’s funeral tomorrow so I’ve booked a hotel for tonight. After the funeral there will be a lunch in Horsham after which I’ll drive home.

The local History society talk yesterday on my village was interesting. The hall was packed.

Have a good day everyone.

RosesandLilac Mon 09-Sept-24 07:19:04

Good morning from the very damp hillside in south Glos, it doesn’t feel particularly chilly this morning. Yesterday was muggy and wet in bits, not conducive to doing anything outside so I started on the border of my blanket.
I made a very tasty beef casserole for dinner in the slow cooker and there’s more than enough for today too.
Housework this morning then more crocheting and I hope to finish the blanket.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Grammaretto Mon 09-Sept-24 07:21:21

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Damp and Autumnal but not thick fog, thankfully.
I slept better. My Helper leaves today to help at a place in the North. But I won't be lonely as friends are moving in while their kitchen is being restored after months of dealing with serious damp.

Poor Iris. gMattie I hope she will find new friends and a niche.

I have a DGS who is different too. He doesn't enjoy school at the moment. He hates the noise and dislikes sport. He loves writing and art. He's 12 but in NZ where he will go to High school next year. We hope he'll find his niche and his special friends will go to the same school.

In other news my DGC here in Scotland are about to get a puppy! I hope they know what they are in for.

Have a good day everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 09-Sept-24 07:28:13

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It rained heavily during the night and was very windy woo! I woke about an hour ago and Himself said “if you keep this up you’ll be getting me a paper round soon!”. I love how, after all these years together, he still makes me laugh. I good start to any day.

We are packing today for our holiday in Es Caña, Ibiza tomorrow. A Jet2 package. We’ve stayed at this particular hotel many times and it’s lovely. A definite ‘fly and flop’. We are sharing a medium sized suitcase so think of us this afternoon! My plan is to put everything we’d LIKE to take on the bed . . then pack what fits into the case in order of necessity! Doubtless I shall have the lion’s share of the case hehe!

The pic is for Iris grandMattie.
Not easy for her - kids of this age just want to blend in don’t they?

Marydoll Mon 09-Sept-24 07:32:33

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 10 °C.

Yesterday, we received the news that DH's estranged brother had fallen downstairs and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a very troubled soul and it has opened many old wounds for us.
There were six brothers, DH being the eldest. Two died of cancer and now this.
It is so tragic.

I am driving DH to his RSV vaccine appointment, it is in a shopping centre and he hates driving in town.

Given Iris' situation, I'm sure her primary school will have passed on her need for support and that there will be things in place to support her.
Transition from the security of a primary school, where you have security and the comfort of friendship, is so difficult for children.

Have a good day, folks

BlueSapphire Mon 09-Sept-24 07:34:38

Good morning everyone from an overcast and grey Northampton, very windy too. Yesterday thunderstorms and rain had been forecast, but it turned out dry, very warm and sunny!

Yoga this morning, so I need to catch a bus by 9am, as the friend who normally gives me a lift is on holiday. Nothing else planned for today except for the usual tidying, washing up etc.

Really enjoyed the film about Katherine Parr yesterday, a quite controversial ending I thought. Did a bit of shopping in town afterwards, then had a coffee, as the bus I planned to catch had been cancelled. Town was very busy and noisy as there was a music festival on.

Hope Monday is kind to all.

Mizuna Mon 09-Sept-24 07:36:48

So sorry Marydoll. Similar thing happened in our family.

kittylester Mon 09-Sept-24 07:37:12

Good morning all from yet another soggy morning in North Leicestershire.

One of the cars has a service booked this morning at 9am and we have overslept.

luluaugust Mon 09-Sept-24 07:41:38

Good morning from a wet, grey W Kent. Our cleaner is coming this morning and the gardener is bringing somebody round to remove the cuttings from the hedge. He will also be taking a futon away. It is worn out having been slept on by all the GC at one time or another. I have a pile of ironing to keep me busy.
Safe travels everyone

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 09-Sept-24 07:41:47

Such a shock for you all *Marydoll’. Mixed emotions probably for your husband owing to the estrangement.

It certainly has!
I had to tell the wife of DH's deceased brother.
She despised the brother for not coming to see her husband ( they lived in the next street), when he was dying,
It was an awful phone call.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 09-Sept-24 07:49:26

Morning everyone from a grey, rainy S E Essex.

We had a lovely few days at my darling sister’s. She is 16 yrs younger than me, we haven’t seen each other since Easter however we had both had our hair cut and coloured identically, purchased virtually the same maxi dress along with identical roll neck jumpers 🤣 love her so much!

I have men here digging up the drive along the front of the house today, noisy and messy, but it will give The Imp something to look at as he loves a digger!

Sad news MaryDoll

Dear FGT2 safe travels and wishing you both a fabulous fly and flop (my ideal way to spend 10 days)

grandMattie I hope Iris finds her tribe being neuro divergent can make life confusing as we have learnt with my dear GS

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️

grandMattie Mon 09-Sept-24 07:52:44

FGT2, enjoy. And everyone else going on holiday.
MD, sad for you. Estrangement is painful too.
Re.*Iris*. Her elder sister goes to that school too, she is very protective of her sister but being in Y10 brings its own difficulties. And, yes, all Iris’ requirements and needs have been passed on. This particular school has very good support for “different” children. She will settle in but is very moody and a bit of a drama queen….
Thank you for all your kind words.

monk08 Mon 09-Sept-24 07:54:15

Good morning all from a wet and windy Black country.
Thank you for my birthday wishes yesterday, a lovely time spent with family and the bistro they chose will be getting a revisit from DH and myself in the future.
grandMattie I hope Iris settles soon and makes new friends.
Enjoy your New Forest walking break Whitewave I shall miss tales from your garden while you are away you make it come alive.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and safe travels those on the move ☀️.
