I think you are correct Mollygo they do seem very unwilling to suggest that the companies making huge profits should perhaps chip in a bit more towards the well being of the nation.

Still, as long as the bankers don't have to have their bonuses capped we elderly will have to take one for the team.

I have heard though, that thankfully, they are not going to do away with the council tax discount for single householders, so that is something.

I'm still waiting for an apology due when working tax credit was changed to universal credit, because I lost about £500 a year.

I wish the gifts had not been accepted but it's clear they have been weaponized by the Tory gutter press and used to draw attention away from 14 years of hopeless Tory rule under less than competent Prime Ministers. We need to move on to real policy issues like the NHS and cost of living on which Labour will eventually be judged by the electorate.

I still find it very surprising that everyone is so eager to have a go at Parliament with regards to the WFA, but surely, the real culprits in this is the energy companies. They are charging quite obscene prices, particularly the Sanding Charge, and paying out enormous sums to CO;s and to their share holders. There would beno need of the WGA if fuel charges were very much lower, and this, surely, should be where the real anger should be directed.

It might be simplistic - and dramatic - but it's nonetheless true.

Labour prefer the easier option. Which is to pretend that there are no others and therefore public-spending has to be, yet again, cut.

It's easier to confront the anger of low-income pensioners than it is to confront the power of Capital. That's why they will not apply any wealth taxes or other measures that might redistribute away from the bloated wealthy towards public services.
