One of the dogs even looks like it had a bad day at the groomers, like it's hair was cut too far up on its back!

Nope, definitely not to my liking!!

Ali08 Fri 13-Sept-24 04:43:19

Nope!! Don't like them!! They look nothing like either of them!!!

Good God in Heaven!
Appalling.

The Beatles statue is not bad at all the figures are all in correct proportions and they certainly look the part the clothes are good Paul and Ringo are definitely identifiable The figures are in proportion and fluid The clothes look correct and they look as if they are walking along
On the whole I think that’s quite nice
The queens is heavy chunky out of proportion and nothing like her If she was on her own without the giveaway corgis who would say ‘ ah that’s the Queen??? No one

^especially the Queen who appears to be sporting someone else’s face.^

Yes, someone well-known but I'm trying to rack my brains to think who.

Answers on a postcard please!

It looks like the face of the late Edward Heath MP has been applied to her body. May he rest in peace.

The statues are sited about 8 miles up the road from me in beautiful Antrim Castle grounds. We'll maybe go over for a walk at the weekend and see the real thing.

BlueBelle

First look I thought she had a peak cap on under the headscarf The woman’s upper arms are way too short for normal peoples arms I still think it looks like ‘Mrs Brown’ when she upps her bosom She looks manly like Mrs Brown because she has her legs apart standing in a male sort of pose
I hope the artist has got broad shoulders like the queen seems to have, because he is in for a lot of criticism I think

Or les Dawson

🤔 well, it looks like someone but I'm not sure who!!

🤣

Norah

Likeness(es) must be difficult to accomplish.

Each of these, separate from the others, who is represented? We only knew because of the city and number of figures.

Paul is definitely Paul!

and who pays for these statues

MamaB247 Thu 12-Sept-24 17:45:13

They're nothing like them. The one of him doesn't look like him at all and the heights are nowhere near in comparison the queen was 5" 4in a d Philip was 6ft big difference but they make her look bigger and fatter and him skinnier stood behind. The only thing they got right is the way he leans to one side

Calendargirl Thu 12-Sept-24 17:43:39

The Queen’s gilet and handbag look to be made of the same material, which I doubt they were in real life.

Dianehillbilly1957 Thu 12-Sept-24 17:35:52

Awful! As mentioned only by the stance you'd recognise certainly not facially! What a shame.

Indigo8 Thu 12-Sept-24 16:50:44

Well, we all seem to be in agreement on GN about this.
Makes a nice change.grin

Does anyone anywhere like it?confused

Not sure why it's showing 3 times, sorry

Ziggy62 Thu 12-Sept-24 15:09:17

I live in Northern Ireland and when I saw pics posted on Facebook this morning I thought it was some of unkind joke
There is also a mural in portadown where the Queen looks more like Dame Edna

Lizzie44 Thu 12-Sept-24 15:08:09

The Queen's head and scarf remind me of my dear old Mum when she had just come out of the hairdresser after getting her perm done.

Oh dear, neither statute looks like either the late Queen or Prince Phillip at any time I remember, and having been born three months before the death of King George VI that is a gey long time.

How anyone could possibly have thought these statutes were lifelike, I do not know, and why portray the Queen wearing that ghastly head-scarf she and Princess Margaret made so fashionable amongst my mother's generation?

It is no excuse that the Queen liked dressing like a frumpish headmistress, because she did, usually when at Balmoral manage to look smart occasionally.

MaizieD Thu 12-Sept-24 14:05:34

I'm in agreement with most posters. The statues are very poor. Not only doesn't HM look like herself but the corgi between her and Philip looks more like a pig than a corgi...

especially the Queen who appears to be sporting someone else’s face. Nice one Babs03 🤣🤣🤣
