Good Morning Everyone,
Just twilight here in brackley at the moment but its dry .
Todays itinerary includes a coach trip to the preserved Great Central Railway at Loughborough, it also includes afternoon tea on the train .
Otherwise would be a normal day in today .
On the health front , my weight is low at the moment , but mainly its a case taking each day as they come good or bad.
Take Care,
Mick

Your summerhouse looks amazing Roses! It’s so much bigger than I was expecting and such a contemporary design. Well done that carpenter! Well worth waiting for. I hope you enjoy many happy days in it. As long as I had a book and a radio I’d be a very contented!

karma I took grandMattie’s post to mean “oiling a cHAIR”.
I think it was a typo? Nothing to do with her hair follicles! Of course I could be wrong. I love how it generated your response though - off piste but interesting!

Happy 51st mrandmrsmonk. Congratulations! 🥳

grandMattie Sun 15-Sept-24 07:44:09

FGT2, before I read your post, I thought to myself “what a healthy * teak* tree”!

grandMattie Sun 15-Sept-24 07:47:00

FGT2, you’re right. I’m have been oiling a piece of furniture with linseed oil. My hair is fine thanks. 😂

Woh, I've slept in. Good morning from a bright Cornwall, sunny again today. Yesterday was oh, so good. Lots of hugs from my allotment friends in the coffee cabin plus a huge slice of cake they wouldn't let me pay for. I felt so loved.

Then four hours weeding and clearing brambles and finding my two ponds, one having completely disappeared under brambles. Everything is huge! The echiums are at least 12 feet tall, the nettles and mint that share a bed are six feet tall, the rosemary, oregano and marjoram have spread miles. I was in heaven. It won't take many more sessions to lick it into shape

Today it's my youngest grandson's (aged six) first competitive football match so we are all going to cheer him on from the sidelines. It seems no time at all that I was doing the same for my son.

The plant I photographed doesn’t look like a teak tree to me grandMattie. The leaves are more abundant and very glossy.?

Morning from a bright S Hants. Happy Anniversary to the Monks.
Enjoy your day out Mick and you your break baubles.
Well that’s stunning Roses worth the wait.
Yesterday I took all the Nigella out hoping it’s spread seeds for next year, the faded sunflowers are out (just seen our squirrel having a munch) ready for the bin. Fin was dropped here later whilst Imogen and my daughter went to see Beetlejuice.
Seeing my son and family later today.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, another fine day ahead.

An enjoyable afternoon at the theatre yesterday watching the musical Pretty Woman, although in places I found the dialogue difficult to follow, because of the speed of delivery, and the very strong American accents. Later in the evening I had a message from friends to say they had been at the same performance, and had tried to attract my attention but to no avail!

Out again to the cinema today where I am meeting friends to see the film Lee, about the American fashion and war photographer Lee Miller, and her exploits in France during and after the D Day landings. Kate Winslet stars as Lee.

Hope all have a good day, especially the monks, happy anniversary!🍾💗flowers

Good morning from sunny Suffolk where the sun seems to have regained its warmth…lovely.

All this talk of summerhouses makes me plan to spend some time in ours later. It gets the late morning, afternoon sun so perfect for relaxing after the dog walk, household jobs etc done.

The GC when younger used to love playing ‘house’ there. We had to knock on the door and they sometimes kept us waiting before opening the door!

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 13°C.

Mick, I am do envious of your trip. Our last steam train trip on the Tornado was cancelled .

Baubles have a great time, as we already discussed on Wednesday, your trip really appeals to me.

I have summer house envy. DS1 has a bar and TV in his!

Happy anniversary to the Monks.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

LucyAnna2 Sun 15-Sept-24 08:34:55

FGT2 - I think it’s a Fiddle leaf fig tree ( Ficus Lyrata).

Dunworking Sun 15-Sept-24 08:53:13

Good morning from a dreich wet Glasgow.
Off to church in an hour once I motivate myself upstairs for a shower!
Nothing much else planned although I bought a jacket I really didn’t need yesterday ( sound familiar Marydoll 😜) and am now considering returning it. We shall see!
Enjoy ur day Michael and ur wee break Baubles. Hopefully ur cold subsides with a change of scenery 🤞🏻
Have a good day everyone!

Marydoll Sun 15-Sept-24 08:55:33

Dunworking 😂

The problem about returning the jacket was that I spent the money on something else, I didn't need! 😉

Good morning all. Late to the feast again, so writing before reading today. But I did stop at the lovely pic of your garden retreat*RosesandLilac*. It certainly looks as if it's worth waiting for and I wish you many happy hours in there - a little home from home.
Anyway, my weather app showed a bright sunny start for today, with ne'er a cloud in the sky. Not so in reality, although the app's still showing it. Well, the washing is going out anyway!
Nothing happening here for me today, but DD and NM are doing the Edinburgh Kilt Walk. It's from Holyrood Park to Murray field - not too far as the crow flies, but each Kilt Walk is approximately marathon length so it will be taking the scenic route.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone x

Good morning all and it’s another lovely day. Indian summer ?

Yesterday was …. 🤔.
We set off on our coach trip to the Saville Gardens, Windsor. We’d only been travelling for 10/15 mins when the traffic ground to a halt. A really bad accident only a couple of minutes ahead (A127, GG and Sar) . Ambulances, police and air rescue. Sadly we heard a fatality.

We had a vote whether to go home or carry on as we were an hour behind time. We plodded on. Traffic was horrendous and we arrived at Windsor 4 hours later. Should have taken 2 and a half. The driver wasn’t great, took us down narrow country lanes, sat nav trouble 🤔, and then got lost. . 🫣.

What a beautiful place, though. Had a quick lunch and walked around and 2 hours later we were back on the coach heading for home. Thankfully I was with a jolly crowd and no one moaned .

This is the second coach trip that has been held up and caused us to be in the coach for several hours. It will only get worse with so much traffic on the roads.

Lovely summerhouse RosesandLilac - so worth the wait and I know you will love it , spending many happy hours in there.

Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Monk. 🥂.

Mizuna what a lovely day you had at your allotment. Don’t over do it though. 👩‍🌾.

Love to all and enjoy your days.🌻🍁

GrannySomerset Sun 15-Sept-24 09:12:31

With a several fine days promised am planning a washing blitz on summer clothes, little worn and needing to be put away, but not till later in the week. Meanwhile we have a special service for our wildlife photography exhibition which had plenty of visitors yesterday who kindly consumed much tea and homemade cake. Hope today is as successful.

Reading about various family activities reminds me that I am often quite lonely and need to do something about it. It’s not the children’s role to keep me entertained so I must think of a plan, but I am struggling a bit. It’s partly that I feel September is the start of the year and of new beginnings- years of sewing on name tapes is to blame, I think!

Blossoming Sun 15-Sept-24 09:38:59

Good morning everyone. It’s raining here in Lancashire and feeling cold. I’m snug in my bed drinking my morning tea after taking all my various morning meds. My belly had a tantrum yesterday afternoon but settled down after a few bathroom visits. I had some delicious chicken and vegetable soup for dinner then watched a couple of documentaries about farming in the US, so different to farming here,

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone 🌹

harrigran Sun 15-Sept-24 09:39:16

Good morning from a dry NE, it was a very windy night.
DS and GD2 arrived at lunchtime yesterday and GD spent the day doing homework including playing the piano as she will be playing at the scholar's concert. She intends to play Einaudi which is very fast in places, amazing to watch as GD is double jointed.
GD1 is off to university today, her mum's car has a roof box on but we still don't think she will get everything in.
SIL coming this afternoon, we will make dinner together tonight and sort out arrangements for my hospital appointment tomorrow.

Love the summerhouse Roses.
Enjoy Northumberland Baubles, I have happy memories of holidays there.
Happy anniversary to the Monks.
Have a good day everyone.
