Good Morning Everyone,
Just twilight here in brackley at the moment but its dry .
Todays itinerary includes a coach trip to the preserved Great Central Railway at Loughborough, it also includes afternoon tea on the train .
Otherwise would be a normal day in today .
On the health front , my weight is low at the moment , but mainly its a case taking each day as they come good or bad.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Enjoy your trip Mick, it sounds fun.

We’re off to Northumberland this morning. The forecast is for pleasant, dry weather. I do hope it’s accurate. The plan is to have a wander around Bamburgh before heading on to our hotel in the afternoon.
I’m still full of the cold but will have a pocketful of cough lozenges. Sod’s Law!

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a dawning Bristol. We too are forecast an agreeable day.
Yesterday flew away with goodness knows what. Church coffee, oiling a hair I wanted to protect. Such excitement!
I woke up convinced it was Monday, and still need to readjust my brain. Church etc. instead of various commitments, dry odd.
Hope today brings you some contentment. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick - I thought you’d slept in and was ready to deputise 😀 before trotting off for my paper!

A lovely night (with cake 😋) was had by Dad and my siblings followed by more drinks and presents by half his village joining us - some of the young lads told me he was a legend! Thank you all for you best wishes x

Roses, I’m so glad you’ve finally got the summerhouse of your dreams after the earlier debacle and I don’t doubt you’ll make best use of it all year round where you can. Mine is due for a spring spruce in March and I’ve bought seaside themed paints for Mr PG to utilise his O Level Art to good effect on the interior…🫣

A peaceful Sunday to you all x

RosesandLilac Sun 15-Sept-24 06:27:04

Good morning, it’s dry and chilly here in south Glos, I’m hoping for another lovely sunny day like yesterday (and many more to come but that’s probably being unrealistic!)
My summerhouse is all set up and I am so excited after all the stress and hassle. I actually shed a few tears when I sat in it for the first time 🙄
Today’s task is to get the living room clean and tidy, there seems to be so much more room now 😊
All the washing dried nicely yesterday too so a good day one way or another!
I hope you all have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning from a calm and fine Torbay.

What a great trip you have to planned, Mick, which I’m sure you'll enjoy. Safe travels to you, baubles, and I hope your clod (DH's word!) won’t spoil the trip.

Early church for me then I'm going out for lunch with the “girls” in the Props team as a combined celebration of various birthdays, etc. Only one has a full time husband as two are divorced, one is widowed and my DH is semi-detached as our (now retired) priest described him!

A nearly full house for the Agatha play last night ensures a most successful run. The AC festival attracts overseas visitors: on Thursday I met someone from Norway then last night I chatted to a lady from Estonia who was delighted to discover that both the Front of House Manager and I had visited Tallinn.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Good to shed tears of joy at last, RosesandLilac after doubtless too many of the opposite kind along the way!

RosesandLilac Sun 15-Sept-24 06:33:13

Last try!

Pantglas2 Sun 15-Sept-24 06:36:13

Wow Roses that’s a decent size! Here’s some Cava for the inaugural event 🍾🥂 and the rest of my Dad’s cake…🍰

RosesandLilac Sun 15-Sept-24 06:50:53

Thank you Pantglas, it’s 11x9’, I wanted it big enough to use as an extra sleeping area if necessary as well as somewhere to sit and do my needlework or painting all year round. I do have the little bedroom for my crafting but I love being able to see the garden and the birds. I’m going to be spending a lot of time in it!
DH will join me, obviously, but he prefers to have the television remote to hand….🙄😊

Good morning from Shropshire.A day of sunshine and showers forecast.

We had a lovely day yesterday with DD1 and the children yesterday.Tiring though, I did over 16,000 steps😴

Today will be a day of rest!

Wow Roses I love your summerhouse.

Sounds like a good day out Mick.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and damp. RosesandLilac that is a lovely summer house! I wish you joy to use it. Ash you must meet some interesting people at the Theatre. Baubles enjoy your trip. I hope your cold goes quickly.
Dgs1 and I had a lovely time yesterday. He taught me how to play his Nintendo Switch and was raging when I beat him! It didn't happen much.
Today he's been up for a while. I was awake for a few hours in the night so I'll not be worth much. The poor boy had an 'accident' in the night but didn't tell me and he slept on the floor. He does that at home, but he has a lovely fitted carpet at home, not a thin rug! I suspect he'll be tired too. We will go out for breakfast later then his mum will pick him up at lunchtime. Afterwards I'll visit mum then an early night for me. I'm going to make a rich chilli in the slow cooker which will do me a couple of meals and extra to freeze. Have a good day all.

Good morning from s somerset, a sunny day today

Roses that was very worth waiting for, your own cave. it is lovely

I did the rest of the summer to winter transition in my wardrobe, very much inspired by some posts on yesterdays thread. I only moved 7 items out to another wardrobe and 6 in but I am finished

I noticed that too much of my hair is suddenly falling, my follicles are having a transition time. I too oiled my head, put a cap on for an hour before washing my hair. There is still plenty of hair but the crown feels thin.

I woke up to cooked porridge today, I am experimenting with making it in my rice cooker. It was lovely, less water tomorrow

An evolving day today, no plans but perhaps a short car ride and a walk amongst trees and greenery

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s dry, sunny and 8 degrees.
Your summerhouse looks lovely rosesandlilac, I’m sure you’ll be making good use of it.
baubles enjoy your trip to Northumberland, I hope your cold gets better soon and doesn’t spoil the trip.
DD2 came over yesterday afternoon and helped me to clear some plastic boxes from a high shelf in the kitchen. I can’t reach high shelves any more!
DD1 May call in today but has a cold and doesn’t want me to get it, but I’m snuffly this morning so she may have already shared it!
Will be planting bulbs today but not much else planned.
I hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Morning Mick, morning All. Decent day forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Roses tamed yesterday we discovered the ancient pergola has rotted behind repair and is unlikely to last much longer. Oh heck. Not sure how we progress, I’m sad as I love those roses. The afternoon was spent reading in the conservatory waiting for a promised phone call that didn’t come. No matter, we enjoyed our afternoon.

Off over the bridge to see our friend today. It’s always exhausting, too long for a day now really. As she’s not able to drive at the moment. we’ll pick up some groceries for her on the way. Nothing planned tomorrow, it will be a recovery day.

Like the sound of your day out mick. Your summerhouse is wonderful roses, looks as if it’s been there forever. Enjoy lunch ash, the semi detached husband comment made me smile. Wonderful celebration for your dad pantglas.

Best be off. Need half a sense of organisation this morning. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a glorious day on the South Downs .

The weather couldn’t be better, and looking at the bbc weather app, looks set for the next 2 weeks, so I shall use it to push on with the autumn clear-up because October looms which is often stormy and wet. I’ve made a start on the Japanese anemones , nepeta and hardy geraniums. One I’ve cleared them I will give the ground a boost with some garden compost.

We have a south facing wall that is covered in Ivy and it is just at the moment coming into flower and is an explosion of bees and butterflies. If you disturb then it is like walking through a cloud of butterflies - mostly red admirals - the bees ignore me.

Planning next spring’s tulip colour combo - at the moment I have decided to go very pale - last year was very dark. So pale yellow/pink and lilac , but will probably change my mind.

I’ve nearly finished knitting some snazzy long fingerless gloves for the winter garden, using bits of wool I have left. They look a bit weird, but will do the job.

DH has just announced that he isn’t feeling very well - sore throat etc. whether this is a man cold or real, we shall see as the day develops!

I shall get up and leave him in peace, and enjoy the peace and solitude of the morning after feeding the birds.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony to our world.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 15-Sept-24 07:25:30

Good morning everyone from sunny Es Caña. I shall be jumping into a swimsuit and summer dress soon.

Yesterday, near our sun loungers I was admiring this plant. It has large glossy leaves that look like shiny cabbages. Any gardeners amongst you who can tell me the name of it?

Also to share … Manchester International airport was brilliant on our way out as security (usually a nightmare - remove belts, watches, fluids in see-through bags, iPads & phones placed it the tray) was so easy! Nothing now. “Just put your grip bag unzipped in the tray Sir with your cardigan”. “Yes madam, your denim jacket folded and your handbag please”.

So easy. Finally! Trust it’s the same at other UK airports now. It will be interesting at Ibiza airport on Friday to see what their security requirements are!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 15-Sept-24 07:26:04

roses a garden room! How lovely. I would spend my life in it.

Bellasnana Sun 15-Sept-24 07:28:37

Good morning from Malta where it is feeling cooler at last.

Had a good day yesterday with the boys. It was very windy but they enjoyed the bird park, stroked a snake (😱) and afterwards we took them to a lovely park where there’s plenty to play on.

Mass this morning then a quiet day as my friend feels like a lazy day at home. I might get some cleaning done as it has been neglected somewhat.

Wow! That is certainly a summerhouse to be proud of Roses. I’m so happy for you that you have what you’d envisaged and you can put all the hassles behind you and enjoy it.

That sounds a fun outing Mick, enjoy your day. 🚂

Have a good day all.☀️

Good morning all from a sunny but cold Black country.
Today is our 51st wedding anniversary.
Mick that sounds a great trip planned enjoy.
Roses loving the summerhouse may you have many happy hours in there.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 15-Sept-24 07:32:02

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Church this morning and then a bit of shopping. I’m doing shoulder of lamb for dinner and I need some more vegetables. I have unearthed a chocolate sticky toffee pudding I made a while ago from the freezer. Just need some whipped cream!

OH has some clearing up to do from his bees and he needs to take half a dozen jars of honey to the farmer who lets him put the hives on his land.

Have a good day everyone.

NannyJan53 Sun 15-Sept-24 07:34:20

Good morning from a bright Black Country, where there is now definitely an autumnal feel.

Housework yesterday and sorting out clothes to pack, which we will do today.

Sat here half an hour ago on sofa with a coffee when there was an almighty bang! The living room door had come off it's hinges and crashed onto a side table which was glass topped. It shattered into a thousand pieces! We have just finished sweeping up, but I am sure will find pieces over time.

So new table, and someone to hang the door in prospect. It will have to be after our holiday now.

Lovely summerhouse roses at last! Hopefully worth the wait.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday

Good morning all from acbrightish North Leicestershire.

Today, our Sing it Happy Choir is singing at an event in a park in town.

Mick, I am sure you will enjoy your train adventure. Loughborough is our local town and we have done many trips on the GCR. I think your tea might be served overlooking Swithland Reservoir which is beautiful and very peaceful. DH used to travel on GCR daily from his home to school in Loughborough. I feel the need to find a willing grandchild and revisit.

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Sept-24 07:34:43

Monk a very happy anniversary to you both.
