Breaking news all over the telly.

FriedGreenTomatoes- I understand that you are a supporter of Mr Trump.
What do you like about him?
How are you with his views on women?

Trump yesterday:

“I tell you what, I had a good life before I did this. Nobody was shooting at me,” he joked, to laughter from the crowd.

Go Trump.
Sorry everyone in this echo chamber.

Go Trump

Well, if he did just that and quietly then people might not keep taking pot shots at him.

The remarkable thing is - neither of the would-be assassins have been very good so far, have they! Strange, that.

It's interesting stuff, (did a google) but what matters politically is who were there at the point of colonisation, established and organised societies, and the costs of what happened to them subsequently.

Someone mentioned the original inhabitants of America. Surely they are the Native Indians?

Yes, it was me. I used original inhabitants to indicate they were there before the Europeans and other nationalities.

The original inhabitants are known as Indigenous Americans.

Even they came from elsewhere., Asia. They didn't just appear .
There is some new research that shows America was inhabited 30,000 years before even they arrived, who seemingly decimated the large mammals living there, due to population increase. Interesting research from Oxford University.

Fingers crossed for you 🤞Gundy.
Trump is a worry for everyone, but especially for the women of America.

Wyllow3 Mon 30-Sept-24 00:20:10

Thank you for clarifying, Gundy: I agree.

Gundy we are at a distance here - it's easier to see the Trump Cult when your nose isn't pressed up against it.
I hope some of the Republicans Against Trump (with their new adverts) help in the swing states and that the attitude of Trump/Vance puts undecided voters off.

Kamala Harris needs to say more to show she has a good grasp of the economy before people will vote for her though.

Vance appears to be a bit ridiculous and quite unpleasant - but having studied Law at Yale (which used to have a very low acceptance rate), presumably he must be brighter than he seems , I really hope he's as hopeless as Trump in the debate and that Walz is busy prepping.
🤞

Wyllow3 I was totally referring to the Trump supporters who love to invade sites like this to start a more disruptive conversation. You can read in their words how misinformed they are ofTrump’s previous record. He did VERY LITTLE good during his administration and a lot of chaos.

He’s had four years to hone his plan for a comeback. In that time he’s become more hateful, more racist, uses more autocratic speech, is more unhinged with his lies and conspiracy theories, showing signs of dementia.

He’s starting to lose some ground in the national polls, but still a tight race. Those uniformed voters are his CULT and they’re not going anywhere.

NotSpaghetti I’m a total Kamala Harris supporter. She has a solid platform she’s running on to counter Trump’s Project 2025 (his plan for dictatorship). I hope even more people wake up as we approach Election Day. She presents a positive, strong, hopeful future for this country, compared to going backwards into the dark - stripping away (especially!) women’s freedoms and catastrophic financial outcomes for middle class Americans, and a bloody deportation of immigrants starting on day one! He will also denaturalize immigrants! I’m an immigrant and naturalized citizen… is he really going to go after me in my old age? Read all about the above and more in his Project 3025 - all 922 pages of what he will do‼️

It’s insane; he’s the most dangerous person to ever run for office. He’s running on his revenge and retribution platform.

There are MANY people on GN that are staunch supporters of freedom, democracy and law and order. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of you❣️

If every person who had ever accessed a porn site and expressed their enthusisam for something unpleasant were stopped from standing for office or working in a job requiring interaaction with the public. There would be a lot of job vacancies. These posts were written more than a decade ago and a lot of change can take place in a dcade.

Having said that this man sounds deeply unpleasant and continues to sound deeply unpleasant, but the same could be said for Domald Trump. The Republicans currently seem to see the possession of a bad character as a prequisite for government, that and extreme stupidity - look at the Trump and Vance - Such men are very dangerous, one can only hope that Kamala Harris wins.

Wyllow3 Sat 21-Sept-24 09:46:50

How can Trump allow this man to remain in the party and as a major candidate?

edition.cnn.com/2024/09/19/politics/kfile-mark-robinson-black-nazi-pro-slavery-porn-forum/index.html

" Mark Robinson, the controversial and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, made a series of inflammatory comments on a pornography website’s message board more than a decade ago, in which he referred to himself as a “black NAZI!” and expressed support for reinstating slavery, a CNN KFile investigation found.

Despite a recent history of anti-transgender rhetoric, Robinson said he enjoyed watching transgender pornography, a review of archived messages found in which he also referred to himself as a “perv.”

"Many of Robinson’s comments were gratuitously sexual and lewd in nature. They were made between 2008 and 2012 on “Nude Africa,” a pornographic website that includes a message board. The comments were made under the username minisoldr, a moniker Robinson used frequently online.

Robinson listed his full name on his profile for Nude Africa, as well as an email address he used on numerous websites across the internet for decades.

CNN is reporting only a small portion of Robinson’s comments on the website given their graphic nature."

Another “put-up job”?
Trump crying “Wolf” ?
Security marksmen conveniently missing?
Just asking for a friend

Yep.

Mind you I read a lot of Patricia Cornwell novels.

“ According to national polls, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris outperformed Donald Trump during the presidential debate last week. Unfortunately for the veep, her televised victory over the 78-year-old GOP candidate didn’t move the needle much – Harris and Trump are still neck-and-neck in the polls.

The debate was the second most-watched broadcast on TV this year (behind the Super Bowl), and was viewed as Harris’ chance to introduce herself to the nation. It seems like she didn’t fully accomplish her goal, though – the percentage of voters who said they wanted to know more about Harris was identical both before and after the debate.

One of Harris’ problems right now is a bloc of Democrats who plan to vote “uncommitted” come November. They’re refusing to vote for the vice president because she’s decided to toe the party line in regard to Palestine, refusing to endorse an arms embargo on Israel as part of her platform. Things aren’t going so well in the Trump camp either though – he’s trailing well behind Harris in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania, and shares in his Trump Media & Technology Group have begun to tumble as the stock’s largest investors were finally able to sell their stakes in the company yesterday.”

This is an interview with "MAGA Granny" you may not have seen.
She has decided to support Kamala Harris.

Gundy I have very positive feelings about America. When I lived there I met some of the kindest and brightest people I've ever known.

Unfortunately, like the UK your country has its fair share of charlatans. We had Johnson, you had Trump.
Johnson didn't quite make it to cult status but sadly, Trump has.
It's hard to extricate yourself from the hold of a cult which, as we know feels like a family.

There are plenty of decent Republicans but until Trump is "over" they will barely get a look in.

Wyllow3 Fri 20-Sept-24 14:31:36

Au contraire, high information politics followers who have a lot of respect for Kamala and millions of others and a positive view going forward.

Gundy Fri 20-Sept-24 12:25:06

Well, you can see what we’re up against here in the USA, some low information voters who have a very jaundiced and negative view of America. Sad.

Wyllow3 Thu 19-Sept-24 22:59:38

The first half on Trump is laugh out loud.

Oh yes, if course one should never assume anything.

I had heard of this periodic invasion of Painted Lady butterflies which is wonderful.
I hope they survive as the number of butterflies in this country seemed to be decreasing.

Or aliens.

M0nica Wed 18-Sept-24 22:44:02

But I wanted Cavery to come back and say what she was referring to. It says so much about her and her views that she expected us to know just what she was speaking of, without her actually saying so.

I mean to say it could have been butterflies, I believe there is one every years, or students celebrating the end of their degree courses, or school graduation teenagers, so many things it could be,

But she just assumed we would know she was referriing to immigrants and I refuse to be complicit in her racism. If she refers to an invasion, let her come back on the thread and make it clear what she was referring to, otherwise, until she/he tells me, I haven't a clue what she is talking about.
