This morning I need to make soup, make bread, clean the downstairs of the house, then walk the dog we are temporarily looking after.

This afternoon I need to be suited and booted for a work meeting, home to change, finish off bread and probably cleaning then another dog walk and supper prep.

So why am I sitting her wasting time on SM and drinking tea?

If there was a gold medal for procrastination I would get it. However, I am feeling smug because I woke up this morning not wanting to go to the gym and thinking of all the other less strenuous things I could procrastinate on but ... I got up, donned my gym kit went to the gym and I am not feelinng great!

Large expanse of glass to be cleaned in the conservatory but, the fairies must have heard me moaning!!, as GD said (2 days ago!!) "I will do them tomorrow" and again today "can't do them today, or Saturday, will do them on Sunday"!! Think I will shut the blinds and forget about it until 'tomorrow' comes!! At least I HAVE got the vacuum out but, so far, no inclination to plug it in and push it!!

This made me laugh TanaMa.. I even got as far as plugging in the vacuum.. then it sat there for days..

If procrastination was an Olympic spirt, I’d be Team GB’s Gold medallist. I don’t do it all the time - life’s too short; but when I have boring/difficult/unpleasant tasks to do, I can always find 100 other “urgent and important” tasks to fritter away the time. Took me a long time to recognise my procrastination avoidance techniques, but once I did, I started doing the most unwelcome or difficult tasks first, then rewarded myself with the easier or more enjoyable ones afterwards.

Car insurance renewal. Since Mr C turned 80 every year seems to be think of a number and double it.

Car insurance is a nightmare isn't it? Last year I added my daughter to mine and it went down by about £100! I felt rather insulted as I've been driving since 1968 without a claim.

I started painting the garden fence before I came in for lunch. I need to finish it today because it’s going to rain tomorrow. I’m sitting here reading about procrastination and writing this. Get your ar*e off the chair my mind keeps saying but my body’s not listening.

I’d love to have a really do nothing day where everything is done and there’s nothing to worry about.

I think we would all like that! Sadly that day only comes when we stop procrastinating 😄

Pulled bags of clothing out cupboard to sort out for charity shop. Bed and floor now covered and I've ran out of steam. I've pulled the door over!.

I’ll read it another day!
I’m soo glad it’s not just me that puts things off!
I get fed up with people saying seize the day.
I’d love to have a really do nothing day where everything is done and there’s nothing to worry about.

I don’t know where to start my housework as everything needs doing so I’m just sitting here on my phone. Must really look into travel insurance and shop around for a chopping board/butchers block. Or might it wait until Monday …

Procrastination is the thief of time.

Shopping for DD38’s birthday present. I’m meeting DGS7 from school and taking him to get something too, he usually chooses a scarf or a candle in her favourite colours. I won’t get clothes or toiletries, she’s very fussy and I seldom get it right with homeware, she’s not a keen gardener. Probably a bottle of something, and a houseplant.

The GYM.
After spending 7hundred pounds on a year's membership I have only been 5 times. I feel guilty every day. So I eat some chocolate. Will go tomorrow.....

AreWeThereYet Fri 20-Sept-24 13:08:21

Beechnut 😁 I could procrastinate for another week then 😁

CariadAgain Fri 20-Sept-24 12:59:55

I think (or my excuse is.....#cough) that procrastinating partly comes from there's many fewer "new" type things to do as one gets older. One has pretty much done all the "new places/new people/new things to do" stuff one is likely to imo. I was going to do a Open University degree (just to prove I could basically) when I retired - but, as soon as I realised that a lot of qualifications had been "devalued" and, though about 5% of people are capable of University/used to go and it's now a case of about 45% of other people are going as well and coming out with a piece of paper saying "degree" I think "What's the point? I wouldn't be proving anything" and I know Open University courses are a much more reasonable price in Wales than they are these days in England (I have no idea why....). So I keep procrastinating rather than doing "more of the same as usual" - except I am now doing odd bits and pieces of "Swedish Death Cleaning" (if only so that I can find things quicker myself - rather than thinking "Do I own a such-and-such?" before checking to see if I do).

Avoiding washing floors today, I could have done it twice /thrice over if I hadn’t been browsing GN MN and Amazon.

^Thing is, the beds look so inviting it was very tempting not to jump in, however, I resisted.^

😄😄 I always feel like that after making the bed.

Still not started packing. MrA is already packed!!

You’ll have to get on with it, he might go without you 😂

I hadnt realised that - ie re car insurance shooting up at 80. Is that a common thing?

I used to be a dreadful procrastinator. I have found the only cure is to JFDI* (immediately) It's hard but it does work! Well most of the time
