Morning all from a wet West Oxfordshire. No change from yesterday where we had a very wet day including hail.
Our daughter is coming today for the weekend. I will cook her favourite food. Roast chicken and all the trimmings tomorrow but Finnish Salmon Soup today. We both enjoyed it on our trip to Helsinki. I’ve made it a couple of times since and it’s delicious.
Gosh, I can hear the rain thundering down (we had thunder and lightning too yesterday!) It’s good that OH cut the lawns and our gardener came last week. It is looking so very green,
Have a good day everyone.
Morning all, it’s grey but mild here.
We had a lovely time with The Imp at Hyde Hall yesterday, his last day of freedom before starting school on Monday.
Today I must go to the butchers and Aldi. This evening we are going to DS4’s for dinner along with the other grandparents to celebrate GS’s fifth birthday (it’s on Monday, his first full day at school, like The Imp, different schools, same road)
Enjoy your day follow 🙋♀️
Where are you off to this time, FGT2?
Good morning everyone from a dull but mild south Manchester. Bits and bobs to do this morning - putting away holiday items back where they belong, sorting out my handbag, folding the laundry I did yesterday afternoon - I don’t iron (!) - then shower and hairwash before brunch downstairs with the Boy Wonder, L’il Miss and their parents. Be great to see them all again and we have holiday presents for them.
I will nip into our larder this afternoon to get the shopping my stepfather wants and pass a key and money over to the decorator who is coming to emulsion our main room next weekend while we are away. It’s ideal to come home to a freshened up room and no hassle for Himself.
Babysitting tonight too as it’s our son in law’s birthday and they are having their own date night.
Hope the weekend is kind to us all. x
Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s bright and dry. It was a very mild night and what with the warm night, coughing and an uncomfortable hip, I found it hard to sleep. Fortunately I’m not doing much today so will take it easy. DD2 and family will call in later this morning for a little while. DD1 is busy trying to rearrange their garden before the winter.
I cut down the last of the hollyhocks, then discovered a lot of brambles coming in from my neighbours garden, so attacked those. More of the same today. No point in trying to plant anything because the soil is compacted and like concrete. rosesandlilac you’ve reminded me that I need to wash and pack away the garden furniture!
pantglas I hope the jam making goes well.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment but stormy weather forecast later⛈️
A very lazy day yesterday in between the school runs.H’s first solo sleepover has gone well.He won star of the week at school and has been a star here too🌟
DD will drop DGD off at a party then come over here to take H to a party. We will have a quiet morning then we are going over to DD’s so DH can help them paint the living room.
I hope Marydoll is feeling better.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning from Malta where the weather looks as though it might rain.
It is Independence Day today so it’s a Public Holiday. Makes no difference really as it’s a Saturday.
Yesterday the heavens opened just before I had to go to my hairdresser appointment. The road was like a river and I had no choice but to wade through the rushing water to get to my car so i got soaked.
Today I’m having littlest while his brother has one on one time with DD3. Should have been yesterday but was postponed due to the weather.
Must get up and shower before he arrives as it’s all go when he’s here!
Wishing you all a good day☀️
Good morning all. My bit of North Leicestershire is beginning to brighten up.
Dh has a brewery tour booked for today - a Father's Day present from the children - guess who is driving him there and back?
There is a lovely garden centre close by so I will indulge in tea and cake while I wait.
Good morning from a drizzly Cornwall. I'm in the process of renovating my son's acoustic guitar but one tuning peg refuses to budge so when the new set arrives from Amazon he'll have an odd one. He won't mind though, as long as it makes a good sound. I'll get new strings too. He's been learning to play for several months and is doing well.
My daughter and I have no plans today, will probably flollop around watching Christmas films which we love. I've booked the whole of Christmas week in the Premier Inn in Liverpool so I can spend time with her and my son-in-law. Their flat's too small for me to stay in. I miss Liverpool so much and am already beyond excited. 😁😁
Good morning from south Glos where it’s dry at the moment and 15°.
I pootled around sorting out bits in the garden yesterday, before the rain started. The tomato and cucumber plants are in the compost bin, the garden chairs wrapped up for the winter and all I need to do now is make my way around the borders tidying up the plants (not too tidy because I like to leave cover for the insects etc) The birds are still feeding and emptying the feeders, it’s lovely watching them.
I did some embroidery and sorting out my threads too, I want to do some slow stitching as well. I have a lovely stash of bits and pieces so that’s the plan for today after usual housework stuff.
Chicken and chips for dinner 😋
I hope we don’t get the month’s worth of rain today!
Have a good day everyone 🌹
Good morning from s somerset, rain for most of the day today
Have a lovely few days Pantglas
I am abandoning my planned bus ride because of the weather and I am staying indoors today, I have plenty of sewing and knitting to do and perhaps a bit of a dust and tidy up. This time I am making a wearable toile of a lovely shirt dress, fitted darted bodice, lightly gathered skirt, short sleeves. Red in a light poplin, so it will go into a wardrobe for next summer but it will be the foundation pattern for a long-sleeved winter dress. It is a complicated slow sew, very enjoyable.
I am looking forward to the day and will sit out for a bit, if I get a chance. I am liking the colour change in my garden, the blueberries are always first and the leaves are turning red
Have a good day
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Quiet so far and dry.
I have open studios today and tomorrow so yesterday afternoon was spent setting up having washed the floors and priced the work for sale.
I noticed a flat tyre so pumped that up and had it sorted at the local garage. My friend came for a salmon supper so we had a relaxing evening with a bottle of wine and some good chats with my helper.
How exciting to have DGD wedding pantglas. Have a wonderful time.
Thinking of our poorly grans and their families.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning all from dark and dry South Lanarkshire.
It was a good day yesterday with the DGC, they were all delightful the entire day, which isn’t always the case if I’m honest.
Today I have no plans other than to have a fairly lazy day doing whatever comes to mind.
Hoping all those who have been feeling unwell have a better day and safe travels to those on the move.
Good morning from a mild and dry Torbay.
The social evening at the theatre was pleasant enough but I found the noise of a game of Jenga going on at one end caused sensory overload so I was home by 9 o’clock. I was pleased that a good number had turned up which made it worthwhile for the bar manager (volunteer) who had opened up the bar for the evening.
What a busy day, grandMattie! I’m sure you will enjoy having an air fryer as I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t. It sounds like you have an exciting time ahead - I hope all goes well for your DGD'S wedding, Pantglas2.
An early Lidl trip for me. Happy Saturday and safe travels to to FGT2 and GrannyIvy. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning from Olbia. Yesterday was spent on a very posh sunbed on a beautiful little beach and I even swam in the sea beautiful warm turquoise water and white sand. A perfect last day in this pretty Country.
Today will be the transfer home, and hoping all will go smoothly. I managed to lose my bright pink North Face wet weather jacket which I have had for many years🙈 Left it on a local bus! I hope whoever has it will enjoy it as much as I did😂 It has been a good friend in the rain!
Wishing a healthy happy day to all.
Good morning Mick from a quiet, dark and dry North Wales where I’m enjoying the chamberpot ☕️ of Yorkshire gold before my perambulation into the next village for my TV pages (the newspaper is by the way really 🤔)
Will trot off to DDs in Llandudno later to instruct DGD on how to make raspberry jam for her wedding favours - I’m starting her on the easiest one 😋
Her big day is on Monday and I’m overjoyed that my dad has made it through - nobody else I know has had a great grandparent attend their wedding! I have a photo of him holding her as a baby along with my daughter and me so will replicate the pose but sitting on the grand staircase of the venue 🤗
I’ll pop in later to read of your bizzinesses….x
Good morning from Bristol. The forecast heavy rain turned out to be only a long-ish shower in the mid-afternoon! Today may be worse…. It was very mild though.
My first Spanish class of the academic year turned out to e excellent; we are supposed to have three new students, only one turned up. He has a very loud voice…
Today, I’ve got the RSV vaccine, then I’m cleaning “my” aisle in the church, after which I shall spend a few minutes with the coffee group.
I’m rushing home awaiting a delivery - 13 minutes past the hour. How can they give such exact times? It seems idiotic! It will be a small air fryer given tome by one of my lovely Sandwich friends as a late house warming present. I feel overwhelmed by her kindness an£ generosity.
In the early evening, I’m going to a talk by the artist who sewed the “Threads in Revelations” panels. If you an, they are really worth seeing, and the exhibition is free… Phew, a busy day.
I hope FGT2 and himself had a good journey home, and MD is feeling a bit more herself today. 🫂
Hav3 a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
