Is everyone having these dreadful storms?

They started yesterday afternoon and have continued. I have honestly not seen so much lightning in my whole life. The sky is pink. We have had hailstones like gob stoppers, crackling lightning almost constantly through the night, rain drops like golf balls. The thunder vibrates so much it is setting off car alarms. It has flooded main roads and feels almost apocalyptic (I must stop watching all those trending films on netflix!)

I'm sorry if there has been another thread about this....I did look

One 🍷 won't hurt, you could be some time.
Although the coaster next to me says "Coffee now, Wine later".
I have a cup of tea sitting on it right now.

Yes, they're keeping us updated as best they can. It's not like going by plane where you get compensation, so there are some unhappy people, but c'est la vie.
The self-service has just reopened, now we've changed course. I'm not sure whether to have 🍷 or ☕️??!

They should make an announcement and/or send you a text message.

Yes, we set off fine at 7am, I think it got worse on route. I can't understand why Plymouth is closed down? I blame Brexit!

Oh, strange.

They seem to have cancelled any departures from Plymouth too.

@silverlining I think we're off to Porstmouth now, but all the docking berths are being used until much later, so just stranded.
Sounds like adverse weather conditions in the west of the UK. No one's fault I guess.

silverlining48 Sun 29-Sept-24 15:33:01

Hope it’s not too rough and you can dock soon

silverlining48 Sun 29-Sept-24 15:31:10

Where are you docking escaped?
Here in Kent it’s grey but not particularly windy.

What's going on in the UK???????
I'm on a ferry which was due to dock at 2.30pm. Currently out at sea bobbing about until 10.30 pm if we're lucky! 😱

We're ok here again, there was a sudden flurry of strong winds at lunch-time but they seem to have died down again now and it's just breezy.
However, we're not near the coast.

It's just started raining.

I'm fine thanks, but dog will be desperate for a wee!

Sunny but a little chilly here in SW Wales. But dreadful forecast for tomorrow. Strong wind and rain. Just getting some bedding on the line in hopes it will dry.

After 2 days of solid rain I have woken up to sunshine and no rain or wind.. long may this last..

I'm supposed to be on a ferry for 6 hours this weekend. I might have to rethink that one. 🤢

JaneJudge Fri 27-Sept-24 20:18:44

It is bloody awful 😞

M0nica Fri 27-Sept-24 20:11:06

There are now forecasts of strong gales over the weekend, with or without rain.

harrigran Fri 27-Sept-24 08:22:42

Wet and windy here in the NE but no thunder.

David49 Fri 27-Sept-24 08:19:33

Raining most of the night, in the Midlands, steady rain not stormy, rivers are rising again, fields are sodden with standing water in places more like February than September.

M0nica Thu 26-Sept-24 13:19:48

Flood warning just come through from Environment Agency and the rain has started. On Sunday the Met Office said we were heading into a week without aany rain. confused confused

JamesandJon33 Wed 25-Sept-24 19:49:12

Rained heavily most of the day, here in SW Wales.

pascal30 Wed 25-Sept-24 19:30:21

Torrential rain down here in East Sussex.. been raining all day

M0nica Wed 25-Sept-24 19:26:32

The fields around us are now as flooded as they were at the end of last winter. What will happen if we have another wet winter is beginning to get me really worried.

Etoile2701 Wed 25-Sept-24 10:45:26

We had some thunder the other night in Surrey and a quick burst the other afternoon, otherwise no, but awful rain.
