Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and wet outside here in brackley this morning .
I did not go out yesterday one reason being I had a call to say that they would fit my smart meter in the morning .
Locally some areas may have had flooding , today I will chance it and hope a bus service is running to Bicester .
Return hopefully have lunch plus cycling on TV .
Take Care,
Mick

Afternoon all. Grey, cold and very wet here.
Late reading and posting as I had a migraine. Dinner will be baked potatoes and bits.
Mizuna. Well done. When I use WD40 I think of the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding 😂.

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It is overcast but no rain forecast. I feel for those in flooded areas or kept at home by fear of the road conditions.
Yesterday was quite sunny and I got a load of washing hung out before cycling into town with some bags of donations (I am decluttering - again!). I was somewhat upset when they told me they could only take two bags - I would have been left with one small cotton bag and a jacket over my arm 🙁. I had a bit of a tantrum and they gave in. Now I am embarrassed. I think my moods are more erratic since my head injury. Mind you, I didn’t ask if it makes any difference what size the bags are - is it like cabin baggage? I know charity shops have to control what comes in for health & safety reasons but it is very dispiriting when you’ve made an effort and no-one will take your stuff. Rant over.

Sorry to read of your mum’s decline, Susan. *Blossoming”, I hope your ‘patches’ of blue expand - it seems quite autumnal this week but I usually get a few warm sunny days around, if not on, my birthday in October.

I should be packing for our trip to Scotland but feeling lazy after my out and about day yesterday. Maybe once my coffee kicks in!

So late this morning haven’t caught up with you all. Slept in then early hair appointment. Hope everyone is well. I’ll read your posts over lunch.

Good Morning from a sunny but cool Co Armagh, yesterday was very grey all day
We went to the NTgarden and had delicious scone and coffee first , a slow walk round the walled garden was broken up by chatting with various groups of volunteers happily sorting and weeding , they were so helpful with information and we left with smiles on both sides 😊
Today is my “ day off “ when I have no commitments so I stayed in bed reading till I heard the bin men !
Enjoy the day as much as you can x

Good morning from cloudy Lancashire. It’s 13°C , the trees that I can see from my window have only just started to change colour and the few leaves on the ground are more the results of heavy rain and strong winds than autumn, yet it feels more like November than the end of September. The sky is starting to brighten and I can see a few patches of blue sky, not large enough to mend the sailor’s trousers just yet.

Good morning all - it seems to have stopped raining here and my strategically placed washing up bowl has remained dry since the last time I emptied it. It has made me quite miserable- as if my “safe space” has been breached. How I would cope with the sort of real flooding my book group friend (see pic) and others have had to cope with I don’t know. I feel such a wimp. I didn’t risk driving out of the village to Bedford for my Art History class as the roads were at best passable with great care(second pic)
Anyway, worse things happen at sea and many of you are coping admirably with worries and sorrows which put mine to shame.
Wishing you all a pleasant day, keep dry, keep safe and keep warm.

Good morning Mick and all from 13C lucky for some Sunnyside northwest coast. Rain later.
DD still here and brought me tea in bed earlier, something I miss now I’m widowed.
The pork casserole in wine I cooked on Sunday when I spilt the wine after cooking🙄turned out very well. On my own, I’m rather out of the habit of cooking casseroles.

Music club this afternoon and will have a warm up warble. DS and DGD due later. They are cook👍
The back is taking its time to improve, it feels as if it’s locked in some way. I have an electric massager but it’s rather heavy on the pummelling. After years of visiting osteopaths/chiropractors etc, I’m reluctant to spend the money. I would go in a flash if they could completely cure it.

Bon Voyage FGT and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, we haven’t had rain for a few days although it’s been overcast.

I didn’t pick up my crochet yesterday at all, I think I overdo it sometimes and put myself off. I will try to do a few more today.
What I did do was make a big pot of lentil soup and also the ragu for the large lasagne I’ll take to DS on Friday.

This afternoon I’ve the dental hygienist which I hate but I don’t have good teeth and gums so needs must. When we visited the Beamish Museum last week the dentist’s surgery took me right back to the drill and fill days of my early teens even although the set up was much, much earlier than that.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Morning from a sodden, but not raining S Hants. Enjoy your course Roses and a smooth flight FGT ☀️
Quiz ran late last night, then I finished my book in bed, hence later up today, just had to close the windows upstairs as the window cleaner is coming today.
Library yesterday, then on the way back I picked up three trays of violas, they got a good soaking, it was non stop rain all day.
Must sort my prescription today and put it in online.

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
It rained all day yesterday so window cleaner didn't come, he sent a message to say he would try again today.
No problem with flooding, I live on a hill.
Spent the day reading my book.
Safe travels FGT.

EkwaNimitee Tue 24-Sept-24 08:48:21

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle where we have evidently had a spot of rain during the night.

Yesterday was dry but cool. I had to pop into town to collect a prescription and post off my hearing aids to Audiology, they have stopped working again. Then it was back to the round of usual Monday chores which I will continue this morning.
I'm hoping to get out in the garden for a bit more bulb planting and/or put the autumn feed on the lawn. Then put my feet up and catch up with my magazines. My thoughts are turning to a heavier duvet and warmer clothing but I am determined to last till October. September should be a warm month in my view!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a grey Cambridgeshire. I need to finish my holiday washing, weather been so awful since we got back so doing a little at a time.
We had a good home based day with the GC yesterday, they played board games and painted pictures and a little tv too! We did manage a short walk out without getting too wet.
Today I’m planning a walk followed by more washing and ironing and a bit of house tidying. As the GC go back to school next week the arty craft stuff covering a lot of the kitchen can be put away. DH has a dentist appointment followed by bike maintenance with the help of the 5 year old.

Wishing a happy healthy day to all 💐

Good morning everyone from a still damp Northampton, after torrential rain all day yesterday. Reports on local radio of flooding; luckily I live on a hill.
I stayed in all day, and like a previous poster took the opportunity to have a good sort out and swap my summer/winter wardrobes. Also re-organised some drawers and cupboards to make a bit of space.

Spent the afternoon reading from my stash of magazines and then continued with a Joanna Trollope novel which is turning out ok; for once it's not for book club, as I am up to date there.

A morning of pottering, and then if it stays dry will attempt to get to our well-being walk; be good to get out and have some company.

Hope everyone manages to dry out today!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 24-Sept-24 08:19:04

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp but mild enough.

Our main room is prepped for the decorator who will come while we are away. It sounds very echoey in there and I keep looking at the wall for the time where the clock usually is!

Not long to go now and then we’re “jolly well orf” as the late Jimmy Young used to say. Excited and grateful? You bet!
✈️ 🌞

Good morning all from the Angus coast. Broken cloud, bits of blue and the sun making an effort. But rain by 11, according to my weather app. That's better than I was expecting though, so I'll take that. Feel sorry for those of you having so much rain.
A worrying time for you Susan flowers
Enjoy your time with the twins Bellasnana and I hope they're better soon.
I had a lovely long chat with DS2 yesterday. He has just landed himself a new job which will start just before Christmas, and sounds very happy about that. Nothing stays the same for long in this modern world, does it.
Tai chi for me again this morning, followed by shopping and a lazy afternoon. I forgot to switch my alarm on, so I was lucky to wake up in time this morning (with a start and an omg 😉 ). I hope you all have a lovely day - in spite of the rain.

Enjoy your happy place, fgt2l 🫂

Good morning all from a dull but dry at the moment Black country, a welcome change after almost nonstop rain since Saturday.
Dgs2 is 6 today will video call him later after school.
Housework and reading plans for today unless a better offer appears.
Safe journey fgt2 and anybody else on the move, take care all ☀️

Good morning from a damp W Kent. Another quiet day with packing and sorting.
Best wishes

Perhaps start a new thread Catherine2.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a gloomy South Yorkshire. Looks as if it’s going to be another wet day. Yesterday it stopped just long enough for me to walk down to the pharmacy to pick up my meds. It’s cold too. Volunteering this afternoon. I will have to drive to school by the look of it.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Catherine2 Tue 24-Sept-24 07:55:35

Has anyone had to complain to L’Oreal about a product?
I have issues with a face cream but consumer support seems non existent

Gingster Tue 24-Sept-24 07:51:26

Good morning all and it’s very grey here in Essex. After the heavy rain first thing yesterday, it turned into a ‘mostly’ warm and sunny day.

Music and memories was great fun with audience participation and our ‘leader’ giving it her all. It cost us £1 and an extra 50p for tea and biscuits. U3A - what a brilliant concept someone had all those years ago. Something for everyone,

Today I will throughly clean the bathroom, the shower needs a good scrub rather than a quick wipe down. 🙄. Hate the job!

Brilliant job with that guitar Mizuna. We have some really talented grans on here. I’m still looking for my ‘talent’. 😂.

Bridge club this afternoon, with cake, of course.

Take care and I hope the day is ‘good’ for you all. 🍁🌻

GrannySomerset Tue 24-Sept-24 07:50:14

Yesterday’s monsoon has closed some local roads so am hoping Wonderful Cleaner can make it this morning. Not sure that supermarketing couldn’t wait for another day as there is no need to risk getting stuck in flood water. Nothing else planned so will take the day as it comes. Hope all is well with everyone after yesterday’s rain.

grandMattie Tue 24-Sept-24 07:47:06

Bellasnana, the RSV vaccination is a new thing here. It’s being offered to babies (newborn?) and people between 75and 79 (or very recently 80). I think it’s a lifetime thing.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Sept-24 07:36:32

Morning all, still grey here.

Ned change, first thing, blood test this afternoon, then pick up the boys from school and then the dreaded swim lessons.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️
