Good morning from rainy East Lothian. I really meant to post earlier today but fell asleep after cup of tea and woke up a lot later 🫤

I had a lovely weekend. DH and I took a trip over to Grammaretto’s area and visited her open studio. They were just emptying the kiln when we arrived. DH has dabbled in pottery as a hobby and very much enjoyed examining the different shapes and glazes. We had lunch in the community store and cafe - a delicious bowl of leek and potato soup and light as air and tasty cheese scone. We also visited another open studio with paintings and had an interesting conversation with the artist. We took a backroad home and enjoyed the views across the fields and hills. Unfortunately DH’s painful shoulder and arm has not been improved by all the driving so he spent most of yesterday recovering. Last night we went to see Tim Peake talking about the history and future of space exploration. It should have been DGS’s there, along with mum and dad but they had got to the national finals of their sailing competition and were in Southport. Younger twin came third. Haven’t heard about his brother yet. We may see them later. Tim Peake was very interesting with lots of funny stories to balance the tragedies there have been in space flight. There were lots of film clips of the experiences of generations of astronauts (cosmonauts if they’re Russian).

Today will be a quiet day of reading and catching up in the flat - a lot of dust has fallen since we were last here!

Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs MD 🥂
Happy 83rd Birthday to Taichinan 🎈🎂

Thoughts with Susan and GMB in such a difficult time. I can’t believe it is 16 years this December since my mother died. She went downhill very quickly after a break-in at her house. She was 92.

Re WWM, I know she was deeply affected by the situation in the Middle East which may have caused her to retreat from GN. I hope we will hear from her again soon.

Late again!! Had an early hair appointment for a colour before my sister in-law and I head to Scotland on Thursday for 4 days in Kinross. Hoping to have a day in Perth to visit the new museum.
Belated birthday greetings to those I’ve missed. Happy Anniversary to the Marydolls. Hope those not feeling well improve quickly and those with worries get relief.

Taichinan Mon 30-Sept-24 10:44:23

Good morning all very belatedly from a grey Angus coast. Thank you so very much for all the Birthday messages - I've had such a lovely time. I am now officially 83 years old! For some reason I thought I was 83 last year so I've gained a bonus year of life 😁 and had a hilarious (to those around us 😉) conversation with a friend of the same vintage as we did the maths to prove that no, we are not 84 this year!
Anyway, whatever the age I'm celebrating, lunch out with DGD1 was lovely. She's the one who I used to call Dancing GD but since achieving her degree she has said she doesn't want to take dance any further so I can't call her that any more sadly. She'll find her way eventually I'm sure, but I do worry for her.
The drive across to Perth was beautiful yesterday. As you say grandmattie, the trees are rapidly changing and the beech trees are that beautiful shade of russet now. So glorious and heart-warming as the sun catches them. Like you, I hope the autumn storms stay away long enough for us to appreciate them fully!
A very happy 47th to Mr and Mrs Doll - happy memories, and more to make. Your new PP sounds lovely, by the way, and will make all the work you do for the parish so much more pleasant.
So sorry for your ongoing concerns about your mums, Susan and Grandmabatty flowers and about your own health, Mick and Bonnybanko flowers
Keep on enjoying the lovely sunny warmth FGT and Sar - it's so lovely to hear about.
Have a lovely day everyone, wherever you are x

Good morning Mick and all from the wet northwest. Nice day in the city with pianist friend yesterday, although my lunch was dreadful in a place I usually enjoy a good meal. A mushroom pie, stodgy, accompanied by an over baked Yorkshire pudding ? and cold vegetables. My friend had delicious kebabs, just my luck. He is on antidepressants and Propanol and was rather switched off, but looked well.

I bought more books I don’t need in a quirky second hand shop that often has the obscure authors I like.
I came back earlier than usual, the back held out well after it’s recent drama, but had had enough. Then a FaceTime with soprano friend who is moving house and I can never get a word in.

Have a word with someone about your weight loss Mick, thoughts to Susan and all with worries of any kind 🌺

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining.
I was up too early to drive to the airport and deposit my young helper. She's off to warmer France. She has been a great help but felt the cold badly.
We Scots are made of stern stuff I reckon.
I then had my last tetanus jag for 3 years.
Art appreciation U3A group later. We are going to an exhibition in Edinburgh. Tonight it's history
society.
Meanwhile I think I'll have a quick nap.
Happy anniversary to the Dolls
🥂 🤎

I hope taichinan had a good birthday.

Good Morning from a wet Co Armagh, not looking forward to this mornings shopping !
Happy Anniversary to Marydoll it would have been ours on the 7th .I remember it was very foggy as we left the cake over to the hotel , my hairstyle collapsed in the damp and got redone in the morning 🤣

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 30-Sept-24 09:40:22

Many congratulations on your WA today Mr&MrsMD a real achievement.

Where is Whitewave these days? I hope all is well. She discontinued her long running thread which seemed unusual and concerning. I loved hearing about her garden.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s wet outside, no rain forecast for the rest of the day.

My Saturday was busy is. I hoovered out the car and gave it a swill over. I then cut down a big shrub at the top of the garden. Yesterday I went and did a top up shop and ended up buying more than I intended then went to a model train exhibition. Today I’ve got house tidying and sewing.

Happ wedding anniversary to you both Marydoll 🥂 my neighbours are nearly halfway through sixty plus wed.

Have the best day you can all 🌻

Good morning from South Lanarkshire and belated birthday wishes to Taichinain, I hope you had a lovely day.

I’ve had a really nice weekend with my friend in Seamill. No rain, a blustery walk along the front in Largs, a visit to Nardini’s, lots of chat and laughter and a wonderfully clear view of lovely Arran.

DD4 has been here overnight so that’s been good too, we had a good catch up last night and she has exasperatedly taken charge of my ongoing chaotic dealings with BT and Sky. They won’t know what’s hit them😂!

Chair yoga this morning and lunch afterwards with my neighbour. She’s been on holiday in the Channel Islands and I’m looking forward to hearing about it.

Good wishes to all especially those with extra worries just now, I’m thinking about you.

Good morning all and Happy Anniversary to the Dolls 🎉🎊
We made our 47th seven years ago and while no celebrating was possible, it was a good feeling and a time to reflect and be thankful.
So it’s another wet Monday! Whoulda guessed?
Can’t really complain, we had lovely weather over the weekend but I am keeping my fingers crossed that the roads are clear (they seem extra busy) as I need to pop some laundry over to my friend in a village just 5 miles away who was flooded out last week and will be moving to rented accommodation for the next 3-6months.
Hope to make Art History this afternoon too as while Zoom is better than nothing, it’s not the same as human contact with friends.
Wishing you all a pleasant day, respite from your troubles and safe journeys if out and about.

Good morning from a grey Glasgow!
Happy anniversary Marydoll 💐
Church cafe service went well yesterday. Everyone enjoyed the change of style but unfortunately it didn’t make much difference to the numbers….all the younger families are still awol!
Not sure what we’ll do today…it’s a holiday Monday here which always makes everything seem different….not like when we were working and were desperate for these extra holidays!
Thinking of everyone going through worries with family.

grandMattie Mon 30-Sept-24 09:02:02

Happy anniversary, the MDs. We would have been the same on 15 October!

TillyTrotter Mon 30-Sept-24 08:54:02

Good Morning all and Happy Anniversary Marydoll.
47 years wed is an achievement and we are one year behind you. 😊

Good morning from a grey NE where rain is forecast.
I should do the washing and ironing today as there are appointments for the rest of the week.
Had a quiet day yesterday watching TV and doing crosswords. DD rang from Brussels and we talked for an hour. She had not heard from her niece at university or about the younger one getting into the rock band.
Happy belated birthday Taichinan.
Have a good day everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 30-Sept-24 08:45:03

Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga. Highs of 32°C are expected today. I love it because it’s not humid.

I’ve got the sheets and pillowcases in the machine just spinning now then will peg them out. Breakfast then into the gardens again is the game plan. A perfect way to spend a Monday.

I can’t believe it’s the last day of September. Summer months have flown by for us as we’ve been so delightfully busy. 🌞

We think we may stroll down to the marina for dinner and I plan to enjoy a porn star martini first while enjoying the beautiful view. ⛴️

grandMattie Mon 30-Sept-24 08:39:24

llfl, when I kept bees and had honey, I made my own labels, glued on with acrylic stuff - children’s or wood. You could use blank sheets of self-adhesive labels if you like
Just follow the legalities, such as font size and address etc., and he should be fine.
The labels are very individual and a heap cheaper!
