Just curious if everyone has a favourite chair, what it is and why :-) I mentioned on another thread I've been looking for a new chair. Haven't decided on anything yet but probably will soon.

As long as it has a high back to rest my head on I'm fine. If it's a recliner too so much the better.

My favourite is a leather rocking recliner. It is big enough for me to sit in cross-legged and is just so comfortable.

My wooden rocking chair. I love it.

I have a Parker knoll three piece suite with two recliner chairs, one of which is in my garden room and my late husband occupied it almost permanentl!!! I now use it all the time and there is a slight indentation on the left arm where he used to rest his hand and a screwed up loose cushion on the seat that fits into my lower back and eases my aches in that area. I get huge comfort from sitting in it, imagine we are still holding hands by putting my hand where his used to be! Soppy old fool, aren’t I? Xxx

I have one chair I sit with both my legs over one arm :-) Not sure I could manage to just put one leg over!

Not one to lounge in, but...
About a year ago, I was visiting the local tip and I saw this chair frame, pretty shape, wood needing lots of TLC, seat in rags with horse-hair hanging out.
Gave £4 for it, took it round to friend who knows about antiques, anin one of her books, a whole page picture of what my chair frame had been: early C20 Sheraton revival.
I paid £100 to have it restored and I really love having it in my newly decorated bedroom. IMO it is both pretty and distinguished.

It's a one-off, but I can't remember the name of the upholsterer company. I'm hoping to get a similar one in coffee and cream for our bedroom makeover. I will admit they're not overly comfortable unless you're a cat!

Love that chair escaped - was it upholstered especially for you or is that original?

Will a bench do? Beside the village pond.

At the moment I'm still using the higher hospital style chair from the Trust as my sofa is very low.

Mine is an old and very tired leather armchair. It is repaired with leather patches and even they are looking a bit tatty. I have a blanket over one arm as that somehow makes it look a bit better. I too sling one leg over the arm from time to time and I LOVE IT because it is so comfortable! smile

I love my grey chenille recliner..so comfy and relieves my aching back and elevates my legs😀

This is such a lovely read :-) I'm also looking at chairs with footrests that come out :-)

I have a favourite one in the study. Its made with cuts of plush material, and is unique.
Only trouble is, it has been hijacked.

My lovely dark blue upholstered reclining chair by the fire is lovely.
I've had it for years.
Trouble is, I tend to nod off in it...
😊

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Oct-24 15:00:31

No.
I find one chair easier than others to get "out" of - but like them all.
Ill use any of the chairs at the dining table - and don't care which side of the bed I sleep.

I think I must be unusual looking at the replies here.

I used to sit like that Jax and so did my dad.

JamesandJon33 Tue 01-Oct-24 13:39:44

A four seater sofa covered in William Morris ‘Marigold’. Long enough to stretch out on .

TerriBull Tue 01-Oct-24 13:03:25

Mine is purely for outdoors, an egg shaped pendulum swing chair, sadly seasonal. I can't see it being used anymore this year.

I actually find the drivers seat in my car very comfortable, right height and a supportive back. But as I can’t stay there all day, it’s my armchair in which I can very inelegantly throw one leg over the arm with the other at a right angle to my thigh. Looks odd, but very comfy.

nanna8 Tue 01-Oct-24 12:37:11

I have a brown leather end of a 3 seater settee and you press a button and the electronics send out a comfy footrest. You can also charge your laptop and phone from one of the arms. I love it. If you want you can lie flat on it but I don’t do that .

Allira Tue 01-Oct-24 12:03:48

hulahoop

Mine is a Gplan recliner have feet up most of the time only drawback is GC also like it so I have to unplug when they are around 😂

DH has one like that.
When we looked after the DGD before they started school, they used to take it over to sit and watch Peppa Pig and Mister Maker 😀

MissInterpreted Tue 01-Oct-24 11:50:45

I like one end of the couch - with my table next to it for all my bits and bobs.

annodomini Tue 01-Oct-24 11:48:16

Swedish Stressless chair - cream/beige leather - with matching footstool. I can set it to recline when I have an afternoon nap. However, I can foresee a problem one day when I might not be able to get up from it, as it's quite low.

Grandma70s Tue 01-Oct-24 11:40:35

Mine is an old Parker Knoll. Beech frame, seat and buttoned high back upholstered in dark green velour. I think they were brown tweed originally, but I can hardly remember. There is a matching rocking chair, but I prefer the one that stays still.
