Just curious if everyone has a favourite chair, what it is and why :-) I mentioned on another thread I've been looking for a new chair. Haven't decided on anything yet but probably will soon.

Mine is called Lovely Seat and its at the top of Swaledale on Gunner Fell, the most glorious view. I have been lucky enough to have been up there several times when there is not another soul about- glorious.

A thirty year old Parker Knoll recliner that is showing its age, and is confined to the conservatory now, but cossets me whenever I sit in it. GS likes it too - it suits his long legs!

A two seater sofa because I like to do handicrafts and spread my stuff around 🙂

Mine is similar to Bluebelle’s - but burgundy red leather. It too has a lever which releases the foot rest, which I hardly use. My savvy daughter saw it advertised on Gumtree for £50. It’s very comfortable and large enough for me to curl up in and have my 40 winks. Love it !

Mine is the window seat in the kitchen which overlooks the garden.

Other that that it is a large armchair in the 'playroom', still with a view of the garden and the 'borrowed' trees in everyone else's gardens, but also a good view of the tv.

Mine is a Gplan recliner have feet up most of the time only drawback is GC also like it so I have to unplug when they are around 😂

Mine is in our sitting room near the window - and a heater! I have all my bits and bobs and books and newspapers etc etc around me - and also the television should I wish to switch on.

Mine is close to the fire with supportive back, arms and headrest.

Mine is an old Parker Knoll. Beech frame, seat and buttoned high back upholstered in dark green velour. I think they were brown tweed originally, but I can hardly remember. There is a matching rocking chair, but I prefer the one that stays still.

Swedish Stressless chair - cream/beige leather - with matching footstool. I can set it to recline when I have an afternoon nap. However, I can foresee a problem one day when I might not be able to get up from it, as it's quite low.

I like one end of the couch - with my table next to it for all my bits and bobs.

DH has one like that.
When we looked after the DGD before they started school, they used to take it over to sit and watch Peppa Pig and Mister Maker 😀

I have a brown leather end of a 3 seater settee and you press a button and the electronics send out a comfy footrest. You can also charge your laptop and phone from one of the arms. I love it. If you want you can lie flat on it but I don’t do that .

Jaxjacky Tue 01-Oct-24 12:55:21

I actually find the drivers seat in my car very comfortable, right height and a supportive back. But as I can’t stay there all day, it’s my armchair in which I can very inelegantly throw one leg over the arm with the other at a right angle to my thigh. Looks odd, but very comfy.

Mine is purely for outdoors, an egg shaped pendulum swing chair, sadly seasonal. I can't see it being used anymore this year.

JamesandJon33 Tue 01-Oct-24 13:39:44

A four seater sofa covered in William Morris ‘Marigold’. Long enough to stretch out on .

Beechnut Tue 01-Oct-24 14:01:00

I used to sit like that Jax and so did my dad.

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Oct-24 15:00:31

No.
I find one chair easier than others to get "out" of - but like them all.
Ill use any of the chairs at the dining table - and don't care which side of the bed I sleep.

I think I must be unusual looking at the replies here.

My lovely dark blue upholstered reclining chair by the fire is lovely.
I've had it for years.
Trouble is, I tend to nod off in it...
😊

I have a favourite one in the study. Its made with cuts of plush material, and is unique.
Only trouble is, it has been hijacked.

gentleshores Tue 01-Oct-24 16:07:06

This is such a lovely read :-) I'm also looking at chairs with footrests that come out :-)

Bea65 Tue 01-Oct-24 16:15:50

I love my grey chenille recliner..so comfy and relieves my aching back and elevates my legs😀

DanniRae Tue 01-Oct-24 16:25:40

Mine is an old and very tired leather armchair. It is repaired with leather patches and even they are looking a bit tatty. I have a blanket over one arm as that somehow makes it look a bit better. I too sling one leg over the arm from time to time and I LOVE IT because it is so comfortable! smile
