A very late good morning from a warm (ish) sunny Angus coast. I had a dreadful night's sleep, so when I surfaced at 6.30 I told myself to have another hour. I did -but added in another two hours for good measure!
So I'm all behind.
I hope all those with fluey cold symptoms feel better as the day goes on.
To counter the awful weather some of you are experiencing - buy a SAD lamp. It certainly works because everyone since I bought mine the weather has been lovely 😍😉
FGT2 that's my mantra!
Cornergran I do hope you're not feeling as poorly as those diagnoses would suggest you might be flowers
Marydoll 😂. Hearing loss is the most misunderstood condition - but you would think that the doctor's surgery would have a modicum of understanding!
Happy Birthday to Iris and congratulations to her on her decision to enjoy her new school - that's half the battle! Looking forward to seeing this new quilt in the fullness of time grandmattie.
Yesterday for me was very productive. I taught the tai chi class how to walk! Yes - honestly. It's a very slow, controlled and meditative action - but not one to be practised going up and down the High Street 😉
After the class I went up home for an hour before attacking said High Street myself - at full speed of course - visiting as many shops as I could and depositing the tai chi money in the Bank. The latter is not something we'll be able to do for much longer - our last Bank is scheduled for closure in six months' time. And before you ask - I've no idea!!
Ash I do hope that injection has done the trick for you this time.
Now I'm off for a brisk walk round the garden while I wait for the washing machine to finish. I shall then hang everything out in the confidence 🤞that it will be dry before the dew starts to fall at around 4pm. Enjoy your day as much as you can x

Good morning from cloudy but dry East Lothian. We had a dry day yesterday too, but with a cold north-east wind. We took a bag of unneeded stuff to the Zero Waste shop in Dunbar. Of course we had to look around and see what others had donated so DH bought a rusty looking hammer (the one we have at the flat is a small one apparently) and some rawl plugs ( they are also bigger than the ones we have 😳). I don’t know what project he is planning! DD found a water heater (kettle alternative) as their very fancy one is slowly dying. This one is only one cup but better than nothing and cheaper, DD says, than a kettle tipping device (she has limited muscle strength).

We rewarded ourselves with coffee in the lovely community bakery and also bought a sourdough loaf to take home. We then checked out the two charity shops and I found a good warm puffa jacket - I had managed to leave my everyday, winter quilted coat at home in the south as it was still upstairs on the landing having been in winter quarters. DD found a lovely cardigan for SiL whose current one has worked through irreparably at the elbows. We stayed for a meal at DD’s and hung around for the evening hoping for glimpses of the DGSs. They spent most of the evening (not) preparing for today’s maths test but appeared down when I asked for help with the tv (mum & dad had gone to a meeting). Their current viewing is The X-Files which I have never watched so quite enjoyed seeing what story went along with the well-known theme tune. DGS then played a shooter game of some sort and then insisted I have a go. Needless to say I had no idea what I was doing so no lives were lost except my character’s.

Today we must finish the furniture rearrangement I started on Monday. Then, if it stays dry, I will go over to DD’s and do some gardening.

I hope all with colds and flu symptoms like Mick and Grandmabatty, recover quickly. Glad you had a good holiday, Liberty. Sorry about the cold at the end.

Good morning everyone from a very damp Northampton, not actually raining but looks pretty miserable out there. Didn't let up all day yesterday, so no well-being walk, and a long day of staying in and reading enlivened by a visit from an engineer to check and service my security alarm system. I caught up with several magazines from my unread pile.

Book club this afternoon, hopefully with cake and/or wine! So an early lunch after a spot of tidying. Will be nice to see everyone again after our summer break.
The library has emailed me to say my reserved book is in, so I shall collect it tomorrow.

May today go well for all.

Morning from a dull but dry S Hants, I too have the remnants of a cold, but it’s the cough at night which is very aggravating.
Yesterday we cleared the greenhouse, it now needs a good clean and we’ll pick up some farm manure for the veg patch.
Today we’re off to the New Forest at our friends for lunch, it’ll be a pretty drive.
Happy birthday to Iris good she’s settling.
I hope that injection brings some relief Ashcombe
At least you’ve had a full diagnosis corner and in one visit, result.
Off to check my PB’s!

Good morning from a grey but dry NE.
Yesterday I had a dental check up, sister took me and dropped me off at the door, I was about twenty minutes early but I was seen almost straight away.
DIL is still poorly so DS can't take me to my RSV vaccination appointment, sister is helping me again.
Sorry to hear some have flooding, I am lucky to live in an area that never has a problem.
Ha e the best day you can.

Grammaretto Wed 02-Oct-24 08:49:22

Marydoll Did you 😃 or did you 😢
You couldn't make it up.

I'm reminded how after accidentally leaving my phone behind on the plane, I asked at the information desk at the airport what to do.
Just phone this number....
Oh no you've lost your phone well email the lost property.... erh no, can't email either.
I never did get it back.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. Blinking cat has had me up and down half the night. Combined with my frequent ‘comfort’ calls, it’s been a short night.
Music club went well yesterday and I was in charge as well as singing. One kind member gave me a beautiful scarf for my efforts. Hardly effortfull as I enjoy it so much.
DS birthday today, 49, hard to believe. I gave him a subscription to a motorbike magazine, although I’m not keen on him biking.

Off now to have my roots touched up and a trim. I go into the city, nearly twenty miles away as they are easy going, do what I want and don’t fuss me.
Hope you feel better Mick and thoughts to all🌺

RosiesMaw2 Wed 02-Oct-24 08:41:50

Good morning from grey N Bucks.
I too felt a bit “fluey” yesterday Mick and found it hard even to watch my film for tonight’s “Movie Mix”, I just couldn’t summon up the concentration . Given that you travel a lot by bus you may well have picked something up.
See how it goes today, I am well stocked up with Lemsip if necessary.
It seems not to be raining but more is forecast ☹️☹️ and it never let up all day yesterday. There is so much flooding around us, the countryside is beginning to look like paddy fields!
Keep well, keep safe and keep dry everybody.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 11°C.

Yesterday, I had a very busy day, between picking up parcels from M&S, (they don't fit) , my trolley wheels locked by an anti theft device in Tesco and blocking the exit and the difficulties of having a pain free mammogram with little upper arm movement. The radiographer was so kind and gentle.
Unfortunately, when my wheels locked, the security guards were dealing with shoplifting schoolchildren. Oh the embarrassment of it all, because people were tutting, as they squeezed past.
The security guards kept shouting to me that they were coming to help! I began to feel quite anxious and unwell, as I was coughing badly and just wanted home.

As for the GP consultation, IT NEVER MATERIALISED!
As soon as the surgery opened after lunch, I called. I explained that I was calling, because Mr MD, wouldn't be able to hear her. Due to GDPR, she of course had to get his permission to speak with me. However, she soon realised why I was the one doing the phoning.🤣
Effusive apologies ensued. He will have the consultation today.

I have a meeting with the P.P today to try and resolve some ongoing issues. I cannot believe how kind and grateful he is. It has unnerved me a bit, as I have been conditioned to work with a difficult P,P.

I hope the knee benefits, Ash. A guided injection by a radiologist usually get much better results. It is fascinating watching the ultrasound.

GMB, thankfully this is not a childminding day, so rest up!

Best wishes to all.

Good morning all from a damp and dreary looking Suffolk. I feel out of the loop and haven’t yet read today’s posts as I have kept away from any mobile devices apart from my kindle whilst on holiday.

We arrived home in the early hours of yesterday morning after a really lovely holiday in Majorca. The weather was wall to wall sunshine, brilliant blue skies and sparkling Mediterranean and the hotel was delightful. Our room had a sea view and the hotel had its own small bay and beautiful gardens.

It has been owned by the same family, who live in,for over 70 years and we met several people who have been coming for years, one couple for over 30 years. When I asked them if it has changed much, they said ‘No’. That is why they love it so much.

The only downside is that I developed a nasty cold a couple of days ago so am not doing my 2 classes this week as I don’t want to spread the bug.

Hope those who are unwell get better soon and those with worries find comfort.

luluaugust Wed 02-Oct-24 08:28:44

Good morning from a grey N Norfolk. The people in the cottage next door gave up and went home yesterday. They had young children so u don’t blame them. I got a couple of bargains at a local charity shop, unworn merino cardigan , cheered me up.
Happy birthday to Iris. It is our SIL’s birthday today.
Best wishes to all

GrannySomerset Wed 02-Oct-24 08:18:46

Chilly morning and for some reason the heating hasn’t come on so not looking forward to my shower. Thought I had set the heating clock for current needs but obviously need to check. Bother! Have a busy day, too - someone coming to advise on replacing the sitting room gas fire, singing and then first local history society meeting of the season.

Glad to read all the positive news and thoughts with everyone facing challenges and worries. The news doesn’t help, does it?

NanKate Wed 02-Oct-24 08:16:41

Good morning Mick and All from a cloudy South Bucks.

Yes Bellasnana I am rooting for Sinner such a lovely young man who never throws his racket or misbehaves, a little like our dear Rafa. 👍

EkwaNimitee Wed 02-Oct-24 08:06:11

Good morning Mick and everyone from brightish, rather cloudy Carlisle.
I've been mostly awake since 4.30am so will be feeling frazzled later no doubt. I am off to Newcastle shortly-probably why I woke so early-so must get my skates on and go. Fingers crossed the train isn't cancelled like last time-whilst we were all waiting on the platform for it.
Have a good day everyone and hope you are good for that trip out Mick.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 02-Oct-24 07:58:05

Good morning everyone from a sunny Málaga where high temperatures are forecast again. This wall-to-wall sunshine suits me just fine and dandy.
#lazygran

We both slept well under duvets, throwing them back as and when. A bit too warm early on in the night but snuggled underneath in the wee small hours!

No plans for the day ahead. Gardens? A walk? The marina for dinner? We’ll get there yet …. 😁

NannyJan53 Wed 02-Oct-24 07:57:46

Good morning from yet another dull and drizzly Black Country.

Managed to convince Mum to try Meals on Wheels. In fact they do a first meal as a free trial. Then give bank details if you want to carry on with it.

DGD2 is coming here for a meal from college at 4pm, then has to be back at 6pm for a Careers Fayre. Her Dad will come over and take her back home as the coach home will have long gone!

I can only imagine how your DH's telephone appointment regarding his hearing loss went Marydoll . Oh the irony.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Georgesgran Wed 02-Oct-24 07:56:30

gM I saw my first Xmas ad last night - for Balsam Hill Trees.

Bonnybanko Wed 02-Oct-24 07:54:29

Good morning from a sun rising, cold east of Fife. I’m almost sure I’ve had a variant of the covid state of play. Thankfully it’s receding now and I’m feeling lots better, paracetamols are finished no need to send for any more. I’ve been sending for my Christmas presents off Amazon before the big rush. Itll soon be here and I’ll be happy having bought all mine.

Keep well my friends and warm, lots of love to you all

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry and bright start to the day with light grey clouds
A very 12th Happy Birthday to Iris gMattie, pleased she’s settled into school well.
We enjoyed a really long walk down the canal yesterday, across the locks and back up the other side. There’s a really nice cafe at the locks so we rewarded ourselves with treat of coffee and a cake. Later today I’ve got a volunteering session then we’re going to DD2s for something to eat and a catch up on news
Pleased you’ve got a diagnosis corner at least you know where you’re up to now
Hoping you feel better soon grandmabatty and everyone else feeling under the weather today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Wed 02-Oct-24 07:52:52

Good morning from Durham, where it’s grey and still, but at least forecast to be dry.
Sis-in-Law arrived safely, although the drive had taken her over 4 hours. I took her to see DD2 and DGS2 after his nursery day, before we ate back here.
Today, we’ll be hitting the shops - wherever she wants, then we will be eating out with both DDs later.
Do take care Mick - not just yourself, but think of others.

Best wishes to all. X

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Oct-24 07:52:09

Thank you Grammaretto, Gingster and Susan. My glands are swollen, sore throat, bit of a cough and feeling generally yuck. I had emptied the food cupboard last night ready to give it a good clean and get rid of anything out of date. I'll see how I feel in a while.

Grammaretto Wed 02-Oct-24 07:49:12

I hope you feel better soon Grandmabatty
Sorry for the Corners too. You really have been through the mill.

Hilarious front to part of my paper this morning. I didn’t find —Wally— Meghan…

karmalady Wed 02-Oct-24 07:46:20

Good morning from s somerset, it will be dull all day today and I mis-read the weather forecast, so I will hang my washing out knowing it won`t dry well

Ash, I hope so much that this injection finally does the trick and enables good mobility without pain

I have no idea for today, I thoroughly enjoyed a productive calm day yesterday and think it will be more of the same today. I did finally try my new red dress toile on and it is a lovely fit so it is going into a wardrobe for next spring. I made underwear which is now in a drawer. Perhaps I will do some deep diving in my sewing room as that is a happy place

Have a good day

Greyduster Wed 02-Oct-24 07:35:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary South Yorkshire where the forecast was for a brighter day. Yes, well…. I cannot loaf in bed this morning as the heating engineer is expected early to service the boiler. Had a lovely long phone conversation with a very old friend from our military days last evening - we try and catch up with each other every now and then. Hope to meet up with her later this month. Writers group this afternoon, and must put fuel in the car.
Have the best day you can, folks.
