Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark with signs of overnight rain here in brackley .
Been feeling a little bit cold/flu?
Today I would like to get the bus to Bicester and see friends for an hour.
Hoping that I feel OK .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dark Bristol. Not looked out.
Iris is 12 today. I’m spending the evening there with the other grandparents.
I hope your injection worked, Ash. MD, do let us know how the ridiculous telephone appointment for your DH’s hearing went, please.
I switched one night storage heater on last night as I had been cold all day, but it does seem to have come on. 😡
I pottered and did a lot of sewing yesterday. Actually, it was cutting out. I have made the necessary 70 squares for a full sized quilt and need 35pieces of backing/interlining it took most of the day. I am also on the last furlong of a knitted woolly had for one of SiL’s nieces as X present. (BTW I saw my firs5 Tay ad for said festival last night. Going to be a long haul…).
Today is busy. I shall regale you tomorrow…
May all go well for y’all today.
Carpe diem.🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and following GNs,
I do hope you feel better soon Mick, there’s a lot of lurgy around at the moment.
It’s damp here in south Glos, very dark and I have been awake for a while 🙄
Yesterday I had a good sort through the stuff that seems to gravitate to the chair I sit in in the living room, very strange 🤔, it’s almost like a magnet attracting metal!
Anyway, it’s all sorted nicely, I am well set up for getting on with knitting the Aran cardigan for my great niece that I started last year 🙄. It will be big enough won’t it?! She has a baby sister so if it doesn’t fit it will still be used.
I also tidied the freezer, I really don’t need any frozen food for the foreseeable future, just perishable items.
Another quiet day today which suits me fine!
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹

Ashcombe Wed 02-Oct-24 06:02:06

Good morning from a cloudy but dry Torbay.

I would advise staying indoors and keeping warm if you think a cold/flu is brewing, Mick, although I know you like to be out daily.

Yesterday the steroid injection was administered as planned by a lovely doctor in radiology and I was able to watch the screen as it happened. It was very painful but only briefly. Time will tell if it has been effective. DH was great, running round after me, despite being tired from a lot of travelling since last Thursday when he arrived.

Happy birthday to Iris, grandMattie. I hope she has settled in at her new school now.

Today, he will help me host Wednesday Club although just opening up the theatre and the catering part. Another Toads member will be running a quiz.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Wed 02-Oct-24 06:19:00

Thanks Ash. After worrying about “big school” for nearly two years, DD told me that apparently Iris has “decided to like it” so is now happy there! 🤨

Bellasnana Wed 02-Oct-24 06:36:38

Good morning from Malta where it is going to be 30°C today.

Had a good day with the boys yesterday and was able to watch the tennis as well.

They are going back to nursery today despite littlest protesting and saying he wanted Nana to look after him again,

Happy birthday to Iris. I’m glad to hear she has decided to like school. 🥳

Sorry your injection was painful Ash but glad your DH is around to support you.

I’m going to watch the tennis final between Alcaraz and Sinner this morning. It should be a good one! NanKate will you be watching?

Other than that there’s a small pile of ironing needing my attention plus trying to decide what to take for a trip to Poland. It is so difficult imagining the need for warmer clothes when it has been hot here for the past 5 months or so.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Good morning from a dark Cambs. I feel decidedly grumpy having been awake for most of the night. I just could not turn my mind off last night. DH seemed awake too and sighing and puffing all night which added to my irritation !!
I have to be at DD2 for the electrician at 7.45 as she needs to leave to take the children to school. Getting around at the moment with our local flooding isn’t easy.
We are then meeting some friends for a meal in Milton Keynes. I really hope firstly we get there with the gridlocked and closed roads and I can stay awake.
The heating is making all sorts of weird banging noises as well this morning.
Have a good day everyone onwards and upwards as they say!

kittylester Wed 02-Oct-24 06:44:51

Good morning all from a dry North Leicestershire. At least for now.

We have spectacular flooding in the area but, thankfully, there appears to be little damage to homes.

Our cleaner is due at 9 am and DH will disappear to the gym. I have admin to do. I have a oom Carer course this evening. The last of this course.

Yesterday, we 4 gners had a fun meetup but the drives somewhere interesting with various roads closed.

Good morning from dark South Lanarkshire, I don’t know what the weather is like but I can hear the birds awaking and starting their morning chorus.

Yesterday we foolishly believed the weather forecast which predicted a dry, bright day and drove down to the Botanical Garden only for the sky to darken with every mile. By the time we got there it was pouring rain so we had lunch in the cafe and headed home again. In the evening we went to a meeting of the local gardening club to hear a talk given by the head gardener of our nearest NT property. It was fascinating, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the work behind the scenes.

Out for dinner with a couple of friends this evening but I’ve no plans other than that.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Oct-24 06:57:52

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and dry. Yesterday both boys had difficult days for various reasons. Today I have woken up with a nasty cold and I'm feeling decidedly under the weather. I may go back to bed in a while. Have a good day all.

Pantglas2 Wed 02-Oct-24 07:01:29

Good morning Mick and early birds and happy birthday to Iris 🎂 may she enjoy school as much as I did (I wasn’t hugely successful but loved going…😇)

A flu jab is the sum of excitement for Mr PG and me later today with a fish’n chips supper on the way home 🤗 so I hope to see lots of lovely pics of all your trips and ‘tivities to entertain me 😉

Belated anniversary congratulations to the Marydolls and 🥂to anyone else with stuff to celebrate 🍾 - hope those fluey symptoms that seem to be around disappear by magic 🪄

GrannyGravy13 Wed 02-Oct-24 07:14:23

Morning all

I am off to the gym mid morning, then I am going to the posh hotel on our seafront (near Sar53 for a spa experience.
It’s the last of my Mother’s Day gifts, massage, facial followed by afternoon tea.

Happy Birthday Iris, good to hear she has settled and likes her big school.

Hope the injection works Ashcombe

🙋‍♀️

Grammaretto Wed 02-Oct-24 07:16:15

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's dry and about 10°.
My Gaelic classes started again yesterday. The class has grown and we are no longer beginners! Our excellent teacher had us Speed Dating in Gaelic to get to know eachother! It was hilarious.

Tonight our badminton group are going out to dinner at a local Indian
restaurant. I'm now conflicted as my DGC are performing in their school concert but I have only just heard that I'm invited. 😳

Happy birthday Iris. I am glad that she's settled at school.

Yarn group today and more decluttering.
Hope everyone has a really good day.

Redcar Wed 02-Oct-24 07:18:06

Good morning everyone from a very mild, grey and damp mid Essex.
Yesterday was fairly quiet, a visit to the doctors, then another walk to the pharmacy (next to the doctors) later to pick up a prescription. My hips and one knee protested at the unexpected use of walking sticks instead of the usual rollator! I stand straighter with the sticks, so should use them more.
Back to the surgery again today for my rsv jab!
DD2 will work here today for a couple of hours, it will be good to have some company, although there’s not much time for chatting.
Have a good day everyone.

cornergran Wed 02-Oct-24 07:18:07

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is definitely dark and I think dry.

Heck of a day yesterday. We left at 10am to have time for lunch before my appointment, arriving home at 7pm. It was worth a very long hospital session as not only did I get two diagnoses but won’t have to return tomorrow as yesterdays doctor was able to have advice from tomorrows consultant, one happy patient here. Eye-wise uveitis is confirmed, next appointment in six weeks. After apologising for not forwarding the blood test outcomes a worried looking doctor shared they had identified systemic lupus markers, some symptoms are very similar to those of fibro so no big changes for me, just another name. It does explain other niggling symptoms which have been with me for years though. A letter to the GP with the missing blood test results will request a rheumatology referral.

Mr C was feeling unwell yesterday, a full blown (and blowing!) cold emerged in the evening. Suitably dosed he was dispatched to bed and I settled in the guest room. Will I avoid it? Doubt it as I’ve an itchy throat this morning.

No idea how today will unfold. I could do some admin and some ironing, notice the could!

A very happy birthday to Iris, I smiled at her decision to like school, one of ours makes similar comments, the latest is a welcome decision to actually study. Hope the injection helps ash. Same around here kitty, our little river is making use of the flood plain from the other bank, first time we’ve seen it. Disappointing I know but perhaps a day to rest at home mick, could help those cold feelings pass. L

I’ve rambled far too much this morning. Thinking of all with personal mountains to climb, hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Gingster Wed 02-Oct-24 07:26:04

Good morning all and it looks dull but no rain, yet, here in Essex.

Today I’m meeting my friend for coffee and then on to seeing Dd and dgd1 for lunch. DGD loves the charity shops and we have a very large Barnados one in town. She loves the books and will scour the place for a few bargains. ☺️.

I hope you find some relief after your injection Ash.
Take care and rest up Grandmabatty.

Enjoy the day, whatever you have planned. 🌻🍁

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.

Yesterdays visit to mum was slightly less awful.I visited the hospital chapel and spoke to the chaplain who later visited mum. They had a nice chat and mum spoke more lucidly than she has for a week.I think I may need to buy a dog collar!A member of the team or one of the volunteers will visit daily.I am so thankful for them.

This morning I have a podiatry appointment.Luckily he comes to the house so no need to go out until school pick up time.DD1 wants to visit mum so we will collect H.

I’m sorry you are feeling under the weather Grandmabatty.I hope a day in bed sees you feeling better.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 02-Oct-24 07:29:14

Morning all from a grey and wet West Oxfordshire.

We were supposed to be looking at cars today for me. I think we’ll leave it until we get back from holiday. We are going to France on a cruise next week for 8 days. I have a WI committee meeting this evening and still have one or two things to do in preparation.

I also need to get round to booking a flight to Australia for next February. It is my brother’s 70th and he came to my celebrations last year.

Have a good day everyone - and happy birthday Iris.

Gingster Wed 02-Oct-24 07:31:52

GG enjoy the spa experience. One of my favourite places.
Our honeymoon hotel! Although it’s changed ‘just a bit’ over the last 53 years.😂

Greyduster Wed 02-Oct-24 07:35:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary South Yorkshire where the forecast was for a brighter day. Yes, well…. I cannot loaf in bed this morning as the heating engineer is expected early to service the boiler. Had a lovely long phone conversation with a very old friend from our military days last evening - we try and catch up with each other every now and then. Hope to meet up with her later this month. Writers group this afternoon, and must put fuel in the car.
Have the best day you can, folks.

karmalady Wed 02-Oct-24 07:46:20

Good morning from s somerset, it will be dull all day today and I mis-read the weather forecast, so I will hang my washing out knowing it won`t dry well

Ash, I hope so much that this injection finally does the trick and enables good mobility without pain

I have no idea for today, I thoroughly enjoyed a productive calm day yesterday and think it will be more of the same today. I did finally try my new red dress toile on and it is a lovely fit so it is going into a wardrobe for next spring. I made underwear which is now in a drawer. Perhaps I will do some deep diving in my sewing room as that is a happy place

Have a good day

grandMattie Wed 02-Oct-24 07:46:48

Hilarious front to part of my paper this morning. I didn’t find —Wally— Meghan…

Grammaretto Wed 02-Oct-24 07:49:12

I hope you feel better soon Grandmabatty
Sorry for the Corners too. You really have been through the mill.
flowers

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Oct-24 07:52:09

Thank you Grammaretto, Gingster and Susan. My glands are swollen, sore throat, bit of a cough and feeling generally yuck. I had emptied the food cupboard last night ready to give it a good clean and get rid of anything out of date. I'll see how I feel in a while.

Georgesgran Wed 02-Oct-24 07:52:52

Good morning from Durham, where it’s grey and still, but at least forecast to be dry.
Sis-in-Law arrived safely, although the drive had taken her over 4 hours. I took her to see DD2 and DGS2 after his nursery day, before we ate back here.
Today, we’ll be hitting the shops - wherever she wants, then we will be eating out with both DDs later.
Do take care Mick - not just yourself, but think of others.

Best wishes to all. X
