Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Hello Kitcheners,I just had to tell you all our news.
We saw the surgeon this morning and DH is clear of cancer. We are ecstatic and so thankful, my prayers were answered.Even more thankful that because of his heart and liver conditions he won’t be able to have chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We will live with have that and after nearly six months we can breath again.

Thank you all for your support over this time it’s helped more than you realise.
Will try and catch up with you when I come back to earth.
Lots of love x

Hello kitchen people.

Well, we are stuck on the ship! Our outing to a vineyard and castle is cancelled. The river levels are dangerously high and the roads are flooded and closed so we are not allowed off the boat. If the roads are reopened tomorrow, we will have to set off extremely early for the airport in Marseille, if we can’t leave, who knows. It will cost Riviera Travel a fortune to rebook everyone’s flights!

In the meantime, we have enough food and drink and my kindle has over 300 books on it.

Thank you for all your kind messages.

NannyG4 , you are a wonderful lady. Us lot are here for you. smile

Redcar It is a relief when, at long last, the wait for surgery is no longer seemingly endless. I've had both hips replaced. Both with the best possible outcomes. Rest, relax and be assured of our continuing support.

My bed awaits. I enjoy reading for half an hour before light's out. Sometimes I awake to find that I am still propped upright and the book has landed on the floor. hmm

Bless you all. Sweet dreams. moon

I thought you might be in Pitlochry, Granmarie but didn’t want to blow your cover! grin
NannyG4, I’m thinking of you.
I’m sorry you have this further worry, Soop. You and Mr S really deserve a break from all these concerns. flowers
Hope you get your date soon, Redcar. 🤞
That’s such a sad photo,of the tree, Brook. You just think ^why?* Why would you go to the trouble of travelling all that way with presumably a whole load of equipment simply to cut down a tree you don’t even steal in order to use??

Still battling with pain here. It’s been a little less than yesterday but I haven’t done much so I’m not sure if that’s why. I’m going to soft play with dd and the GC tomorrow which may or may not be a good idea. Luckily, it’s a fairly sedate place, only for under 10’s, and they don’t play blaring music.

Sleep tight, all. Xxx

NannyG4 i know how you feel. Hang on in there, we will get through. Sending a hug.
Soop so much for you both to cope with. Sending my love and hope all is well.
👋 Hello to all.

brook2704 Wed 16-Oct-24 21:36:16

Good evening kitchen pals, it’s been a wet day here in Northumberland ☔️ we still enjoyed the day though, we’ve been exploring Roman forts and museums and had a walk along Hadrians Wall to Sycamore Gap where the famous tree was cut down last year. The good news is though that it’s sprouting new shoots so hopefully it will regrow in years to come. We rounded off the day in a gorgeous country pub, we sat by the log fire drying out and chatting
Wine tasting tomorrow sounds good llfl 🍷
I’ve given up on M&S clothes scapal nothing seems to fit me these days and I’m no good at alterations
Sending ❤️ to everyone in the quiet corner, especially nannyG4, we’re always here for you x

Evening Kitcheners it has been a dull, wet miserable day here in Central Scotland. Spent the day doing inside things making a big pot of lentil soup and a mixed fish pie. I don’t use a recipe as such just bung things in using what we have. I also took up a pair of trousers from M&S, although they said SHORT they were an inch and a half longer than any of my other ones! So wasn’t a wasted day.The sizing seems to be a bit hit or miss these days. Looks like your holiday is going well Brook loving the photos. Enjoying hearing about your cruise Lft we did a Viking cruise on the Rhône earlier in the year but you are obviously a different company. Soop I am sorry to hear of your continuing health issues hope the appointments are soon.

cornergran Wed 16-Oct-24 20:14:04

Oh heck soop, sorry you’ve more medical appointments ahead. Hope all will be well.

How’s the pain sued? I often find physio increases discomfort for a while before I realise it’s a lot better.

nannyg4 flowers. We’re all here when you need us.

Faffed at home this morning before a tedious committee meeting at our medical practice. Shattered now, it is good to be out and about though. It’s rained all day, the lanes we travelled to the meeting were flooded in places, I was thankful to have a lift. Should be fine tomorrow, hope so as I’d love some fresh air

Have a restful evening everyone and a peaceful night.

Grandmabatty Wed 16-Oct-24 20:11:12

Soop that is indeed a buggeration. I hope it is nothing at all. My thoughts are with you. Ladyleftfieldlover sounds like a great holiday. Redcar I hope all goes well with your operation plans. NannyG4 I often wonder how you are doing. We are here for a listen and a hug. Grannmarie oh lucky you. I love Pitlochry and the theatre. And a wander round the shops. Suedonim hopefully that treatment will help. Brook sounds like a lovely trip away.
I helped out by taking dgs1 to a birthday party today. Oh my, he's growing up fast. He had a good time and was very polite. The rest of the day I have pottered and rested in equal amounts. I think I'll have an early night. Toya

Hello kitchen people.

We had a wet day today after several days of sunshine. The main item was a trip on a steam train through the hills. Lunch was delicious, as was dinner. The cocktails were good too. OH and I have definitely put on weight! It is a holiday...

Tomorrow’s jaunt is a wine tasting. Then for our final evening it is the Captain’s Cocktail Party followed by the Captain’s Dinner.

Have a good evening everyone.

Soop, I had pain and discomfort recently in the breast I had the cancerous tumour in. I had a mammogram and examination and it turned out to be ‘muscular’.

Jaxjacky Wed 16-Oct-24 19:37:48

Oh buggerations indeed soop you both need some TlC , as well as swift appointments.
Fingers crossed that physio has made a difference SueD.
Happy memories of that area Grannmarie many years ago I had a happy week in Killin, beautiful.
NannyG4 you’re in my thoughts, we’re always here 🌹
A dry but very dull day until about 5 when the rain came down and is still going, but I got the old baskets and tubs cleared for refilling. Good chat with a friend this morning when she called in for coffee, I spent some time helping her with online bits and bobs.
Remind me not to wear anything light coloured when I’m in the garden please kitcheners!
A day off will do you good GG13 all work and no play..

GrannyGravy13 Wed 16-Oct-24 19:20:46

Oh dear soop it seems to be one thing after another at the moment for you and your DH

I had plans for today, not one thing on my list has been accomplished, but hey ho, tomorrow is another day 🤷‍♀️

PJ’s on DH is out and I am making an even longer list of must do jobs for tomorrow 🙋‍♀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 16-Oct-24 19:15:34

‘Evening All’.

A very relaxing day here. Listening to our book club read on Audible was very pleasant. Then I went out to watch L’il Miss in her swimming lesson. She’s a natural in the water (like her mum). Home now, baked potatoes and chicken thighs in the oven are ready to eat. No effort, no faff. I’ll put my pj’s on first. I do like to dress for dinner. 😁

brook2704 Wed 16-Oct-24 17:46:23

Hoping all goes well with your hip replacement redcar it’ll soon be here, good that you’ve got your important dates in the diary 😀
Hoping it’s sorted soon soop with no additional worries 💐

Redcar Wed 16-Oct-24 15:25:22

soop I hope that you and your DH get your appointments through soon. Pictures online of floods in parts of the Sahara desert, I hope your DS manages to avoid them.
nannyg4 thinking of you, please offload some of your sadness on this lovely kind kitchen!
I’m feeling shell shocked, I’ve just had a phone call from the hospital where I’m having my hip replacement early in November, and have dates for my pre op assessment, pre op physio session (!), more blood tests, etc! It all seems very real now, but I know what to expect this time round. Now I can plan when to do the many tasks that need doing before I’m out of action for 6 weeks at least.
Lovely day here, and warm, shame I’m not up to doing any weeding outside.
I’m at DD1s tomorrow again, looking after the dog and being on standby to collect the granddaughters from after school club.
sued I hope your shoulder improves soon.
Enjoy the rest of the day!

Grannmarie Wed 16-Oct-24 11:24:13

Aww, Soop, hoping and praying that you are both seen very soon. Take care.💕🙏

Naughtyneine Tue 15-Oct-24 23:38:13

Soop...yet another buggeration it seems. 🤗🌹. X

soop Tue 15-Oct-24 23:17:45

I've been experiencing pain in the area of the breast that was removed when I was diagnosed with cancer just over five years ago. GP sent me for a chest Xray on Friday. This afternoon the GP phoned to say that the troublesome area was clear. However, there is a shadow on the opposite side of the chest. I will need to go to Oban hospital for a scan.

Mr Soop remains positive as he awaits his important referral.

My bed calls. Hot milk and the latest Rebus await.

Sleep tight, dear Kitcheners. I shall return tomorrow. smile moon

soop Tue 15-Oct-24 23:07:54

Thank you to those of you lovely lot who have shared some very special photos with we Kitcheners.

Son has biked through Todgha gorge and over the top . His friend also managed it in spite of an attack of dysentery. There are a number of groups participating in the Monkey Run Morocco. Every one of has encountered buggerations of one kind or another. All for charity. Here is the latest photo of son taken a few hours ago.

Grannmarie Tue 15-Oct-24 23:02:35

Good Evening Lovely Ladies..... Just popping in to wish you all well and say I think of you often . I've not much to report, feeling very low so won't linger and spoil the mood of this lovely thread. Love to you all. 💕💕

Grannmarie Tue 15-Oct-24 22:23:01

brook, you are absolutely spot on! We are indeed in Pitlochry, across the road from the Festival Theatre. Enjoy Hadrian's Wall tomorrow.

SueD, I'm glad you've had a consultation. Hope it brings you some relief soon.

SueDonim Tue 15-Oct-24 22:10:52

What fabulous photos today! Alpacas, golden pumpkins, river and valley views, a playmat that looks identical to one we have. I’ve enjoyed looking at them.

I did manage to get a physio appointment upon phoning the surgery this morning. For next Monday. hmm I took it because it’s all they had but I found a private clinic and went to see someone there late this afternoon. She diagnosed a problem with the trapezius muscle - a body part I didn’t know I had! It stretches from the back of the head to way down the back. It’s inflamed and rubbing on a nerve that runs from the spine to the arm, which is what’s causing the pain. She did some massage and ultrasound to unknot it, then said it might get worse before it gets better. Yikes! I’ve exercises to do, should apply heat regularly and take paracetamol (not ibuprofen as it doesn’t work on this particular type of problem). I’m going back next week to see her again. If it stops the pain, it’ll been £75 well spent. At times today I was beside myself in agony.

I’m off to have a hot bath now and to get comfy in bed. Sweet dreams everyone. Xxx
