Unexpected lovely moment

My dog's totally soft &, I think, rather gorgeous but if people try & cuddle him when he's out he always acts distinctly unimpressed, it's rather embarrassing. Children, he'll raise a tail wag for. If strangers come to the house, he's all lovey dovey, he was on the sofa with the dog-loving Openreach engineer this week, leaning into him & staring soppily into his eyes.

My little dog (on lead) approaches everyone with tail wagging and body wriggling - most people make a fuss of her, and one lady said that the encouter had made her day. However, some people inevitably walk past wthout looking at her, and she seems to wilt. Not everyone likes, notices or wants to pat dogs of course, but I do feel sorry for her when her loving overtures are ignored.

Two weeks ago I was walking out of the nearby woods on a narrow pathway between two hedgerows and came face to face with a young badger. I was close enough to touch it but he looked at me then shuffled across my path and into the opposite hedgerow. It was a magical moment. I rang the Badger trust when I arrived home and a lovely man told me it was highly unusual to see a badger during the day.

It made my day.

I love the dramatic dog 😂

I had a lovely moment the other day at a family 'do'. My three year old niece asked me to draw her a wolf. My drawing skills are seriously lacking, but I obliged within the limits of my ability. I could see by the look on her face that my niece was unimpressed, but she called for her mother and said 'Look Mummy - Auntie Doodle has tried her very best to do this wolf.'

I felt very encouraged and promised myself I'd do better next timewink

A few days ago a crow was drinking from a puddle of water. Not wishing to disturb it, I took a wide berth, but, being hesitant, the crow jumped back about 5 feet and looked at me. I carried on walking and, 50 feet later turned around to see it carrying on with its drink. Such a small pleasure from an everyday bird.

I was recently in Corfu Airport, feeling a bit stressed after a bit of a hiccup coming through security. I queued up to buy a bottle of water and the assistant was quite snappy saying that she couldn't accept a 20 Euro note which was all that I had on me. I turned away a bit upset and this lovely young man behind me offered to buy me the water. I nearly burst into tears but managed to say No and Thank you. DH eventually came to the rescue. I had to go and thank the young man again when I'd regained my composure, but I was really touched and it cheered me up no end.

I had one on Sunday when I had a local walk that I take quite often in a now wooded area that used to be mine workings. I never expect to see much wildlife there, but on Sunday, a female roe deer trotted cross my path. We stared at each other for a few moments and then it was off, leaving me open mouthed. I’ve been doing the walk for twelve years and never seen sign of deer. Where there is one, I hope there are others. It out a spring in my step all the way home!

Am still not feeling great after nasty long cold but today brightened up immeasurably. Walking along the road, I saw a man with an enormous dog. It was huge, furry and gorgeous. While the dog stopped to sniff a lamp post I said, 'What a lovely dog. Is it a Pyrenean?'. The man agreed and asked if I would pat it. Would I?! While I was having a terrific cuddle with the very friendly creature the man explained that the dog really, really enjoyed being patted and fussed and sometimes collapsed with disappointment if nobody came along and did it. It's his mother's dog and he likes ladies.
Just an unexpected encounter that really cheered me up.
