Not just lovely as an adjective but as a personal pronoun - people in shops seem to call me ‘lovely’ all the time eg “Thank you lovely.”

Everything I type "lovely" on my phone, my finger slips and hits the "i" key, so my messages read:
"I had a lively time with a lively group of ladies doing lots of lively things."
The mind boggles! 😃

Oh I agree with you. It’s become a very noticeable habit hasn’t it?

Well, I had a lovely walk up the road today and bought some lovely flowers. A lovely man then caught my eye, so I gave him a lovely smile and a naughty but lovely wink. All in all, a lovely morning.

What about ‘National Treasure’ often attributed to some obscure personality?

I think it is like referring to grumpy people as "a character".

Too many people with extremely restricted vocabularies?

Plus this modern need to be forever praising everyone that breathes for fear of missing someone out and bruising their egos.

What they wanted to say was

What a fabulous day out with our lovely WI ladies to The Kings Gallery and the Royal Mews - plus we were joined from a couple of ladies from xxxxxxxxxx WI too, despite not having invited them
A superb day out with lots of lovely chats over wishy-washy tea and coffee getting to know one another a little better than I wanted😍 and two fabulous exhibitions that we all really enjoyed 🎉
Huge thanks to lovely xxxxx from xxxxxx Coaches for getting us there safely despite driving like a maniac, and huge thanks to all the lovely ladies on the trip

No UANBU! I too am sick to the back teeth of every tiresome moaning Minnie being described as a “lovely lady”

Why is everybody referred to as “lovely” ?
You know the sort of thing, I suspect I am guilty of it too.
“My lovely cleaner, my lovely hairdresser, my lovely gardener etc?”
This from a post by our local WI FB group (place names redacted))
