Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dry but cloudy South Yorkshire. It is set to rain at some point I think. Glsd your system seems to be settling Mick. I have a sore arm from my flu jab yesterday but nothing else as yet. DS was so late yesterday that he decided to forego the football and spent the afternoon with me. We went for a walk, somewhere where I’m usually too timid to take myself as it’s rather isolated. We talked the hind legs off several donkeys. For some reason he was surprised that I could walk so far these days. It was about my limit to be fair. Today I have an empty until teatime when DD and the menfolk are coming for a roast dinner, so I shall potter. I used to love harvest festival too, especially singing “Come ye faithful people, come”.
Have the best day you can folks

Good morning all from N Bucks where our Indian Summer seems to be over. Yesterday was truly beautiful though.
51 years ago today I was in Queen Mary’s hospital Roehampton trying without much success to give birth to our first baby.
14 hours and and emergency C section later our little boy was born. Paw told me how he had walked the 3 miles home to our flat in Richmond in the middle of the night (no car) “walking on air” .
Sadly our son only lived for another 24 days but if I close my eyes and shut out everything around, I can just think back to that wonderful first week of his life, happy being a mum, proud to be a family.
Half a century ago!
Much water has passed under many bridges since then.
With kind thoughts to all for a pleasant Sunday.

Lovely display grandmattie. Quiet day today. Lovely meet-up with work friends know I’ll miss them when I retire hope to keep in touch but time will tell. Short wander round couple of shops planned essential bits needed. Then quiet afternoon planned. Love to all.

“Oh what a(nother) beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day!” 🎵 🎶

Good morning everyone from Málaga. This weather is just incredible. 🌞 🌞 Hotter than any other Sept/Oct I can recall over the years anyway. Gardens this afternoon then definitely a cocktail for me on the marina before dinner a deux down there. We are running out of days!

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Oct-24 08:54:21

Morning Mick and everyone, it’s overcast in S Hants, I heard rain overnight.
Beautiful gMattie it stirred my childhood memories too.
My daughter has my car now until Monday, hers needs the brakes fixed, so I’m marooned!
MrJ has been called in as emergency ref for the under 12’s that Finley plays for later or they would forfeit the game, hope it stays dry.
I’ll get out for a walk and finish reading yesterday’s paper.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I’ve just woken up having gone to bed at 8.30 pm! I was exhausted and achy all day yesterday after my flu and Covid jabs on Friday. I feel okay now.

A quiet day today apart from cooking a shoulder of lamb to transform into a shepherd’s pie and I’ll make a raspberry crumble too.

I might watch another lecture on the history of railway stations which my daughter sent me a link too - yes, I know I’m a nerd!

Have a good day.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's been raining but is fairly mild.
I have Quaker Meeting here this morning and either a classical concert or a Harvest service this afternoon.
Yesterday I sat nearly all day in a zoom church meeting. We prayed for peace and reconciliation in the Middle East.
Tonight there's a film at the community cinema. Daughters of the Dust.
I am now making soup for our lunch.

I hope those who are poorly, feel better soon.
Such a quandary Marydoll
Should you have the injection or not.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

GrannySomerset Sun 06-Oct-24 08:49:15

Think you are right, GG, because I still feel awful after having the two together on Friday, so another non-day for me. Not sure I shall even bother to get up but will need a hot drink so will have to make the effort. Good thing that “tomorrow is another day”!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Oct-24 08:42:10

Morning all 🙋‍♀️

I have a very sore arm thanks to the flu jab yesterday. I am having Covid booster in two weeks, I still am nervous about having them both together.

We are meeting friends for a meal and his afternoon at a trendy Bistro in our road. We have been friends for 44 years, through thick and thin.

Will catch up with your news over my cup of tea

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday

Good morning from a dull Suffolk where there must have been rain in the night.

I managed to do quite a bit of tidying up in the garden yesterday and potted up a bag of tete a tete daffodils. I enjoyed being out in the sun after a few days indoors horsing my cold.

Today I will have no excuse not to tackle the ironing piles. I’ve decided to put all my summer holiday clothes away and accept that autumn has arrived. I collected a huge bag of conkers from the churchyard yesterday for DGS3. He will want to collect his own when they visit next weekend but they are falling fast and I don’t know how many will be left then.

Hope today is the best one possible for all.

Good morning all from a dull but dry for the moment Black country.
Well I feel a lot more refreshed this morning I actually had 8hrs sleep, most unknown for me usually mange 6hrs with a small disturbance by DH trip to bathroom.
gMattie that's a lovely display I do admire your many talents.
May get my ironing done these last few nice days of sun have sent me on a washing frenzy.
Roast beef for dinner.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Oct-24 08:21:49

Ash that's such a pity when you've enjoyed taking part. I'm glad you can contribute still. Corner take care x

Marydoll Sun 06-Oct-24 08:20:53

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 10°C.
I too have been awake half the night.

Sorry to hear so many are unwell.
Feeling grim, my chest hurts and I have a headache. A dilemma for me, my biologic injection is due and it is advisable not to have it if you have an infection. If I don't have it, it will knock everything out of sync and my pain levels will increase.
I'm going to wait until lunchtime and see if I improve.

I hope all those seeing family today, have a great time. Much as I love mine, Ihope no-one pops in! I want to be alone! 😉
Enjoy your day, folks.

Good morning from Severnside. It’s dry outside.
Yesterday I put up my garden umbrellas to dry ready for storing away. The oldest is looking very tatty so may not come out again. I then cut down the rest of a shrub I started last week.
Finished my day with SOAP that I’d put in the slow cooker and watched Gardeners World on iPlayer.

Today I’m going to do crafting and have some paperwork to look at which I’ve been putting off for weeks.

Enjoy your roasts 🌺

Morning Mick, morning All. From what I can see out of the window our corner of Somerset is cloudy and dry.

It will be a quiet day and indeed week here as Mr C has kindly shared covid with me. Nuisance for sure. I sorted this and that yesterday and can rest with a clear conscience. Feel ‘odd’ rather than ill. Mr C is fortunately on the mend.

This mornings posts have triggered happy memories in me. Often enjoyed watching the Morris men as a child and teenager. Not seen any for years.

The image of your beautiful arrangement reminded me of harvest time as a young person grandmattie. Although we lived on the edge of a crowded suburban area my dad was what was called a farm bailiff, the farm ran from a busy main road down to the Thames. Every year a couple of hay bales and farm produce were contributed to be transformed into a striking display in my small junior school hall. Dad’s arrival on a tractor and trailer caused some excitement in the majority and acute embarrassment in me! It was a far from affluent area but each child brought something to add, often a tin or package. After our thanksgiving service the bounty was packed into bags to be delivered by the older children to local retired people. Dad turned up again with the tractor and removed the hay bales. Simple, happy times that had slid to the back of my memory.

Sleep was elusive last night, I imagine I’ll make up for it today.

With thoughts to all managing difficulties. Have the best day you can everyone.

Sadly, no speaking part, Grandmabatty for Wind in the Willows as my TIA took away my ability to memorise lines to any extent. However, the directors want me to help swell the singing and I might be given a few odd lines, perhaps. I enjoy reading in for absentees at rehearsals.

kittylester Sun 06-Oct-24 08:06:38

Good morning all from a dry North Leicestershire.

Not much going on here today. DH and I are both feeling grim after our flu jabs. I had a very disturbed night with alternating sweats and shivers

Pot roast chicken later.

Georgesgran Sun 06-Oct-24 08:05:53

Good morning from Durham - it’s dark, soggy and miserable.

Sis-in-Law went home yesterday so I’ve the house/day to myself, which I’ll enjoy.

Going back 30 odd years, the DD’s school only requested non-perishables at Harvest Festival to donate to The Peoples Kitchen in Newcastle.

Best wishes to all. X

karmalady Sun 06-Oct-24 08:05:16

Good morning from s somerset, rain starts today

A good day yesterday, outside stuff all morning, sewing most of the afternoon and evening reading, knitting and youtube

More of the same today but I will put a film on this evening.

That is a beautiful traditional harvest display GM, I remember feeling so disappointed when the school did not want real veg, only tinned stuff and harvest supper no longer felt appropriate to our end-of-harvest in the uk. I was in touch with actual veg harvest

Have a good day

Good morning from a grey W Kent. We got our flu/covid jabs yesterday morning, three receptionists and a nurse, nobody else around, not our usual experience. This morning my arm is very sore, DH is fine which is just as well as he is driving to DS’s for GD1’s 18th birthday lunch.
Love the arrangement gM
Best wishes

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Oct-24 07:49:47

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and wet. Nice display GrandMattie. I can't work the oven in dds house brook! Ash do you have a specific part in Wind in the Willows?
Yesterday I felt a bit better and got my usual housework done. I managed to eat more too.
Today I have a food shop to do at Aldi then this afternoon I'll visit mum. Otherwise a quiet day. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Sun 06-Oct-24 07:44:09

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it looks a bit grey but dry.
Gorgeous vegetable display gmattie
Yesterday was sunny and warm so we went for a walk to the local park, watched eldest DGS play football then wandered back. Last night DD1 and SiL went out early evening, I cooked dinner and was pleased that I could work all the appliances in the kitchen. It sounds daft but she’s got high tech everything. The boys were really good and so easy to look after.
Today I think we’re all off out somewhere but not sure where yet
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

harrigran Sun 06-Oct-24 07:43:33

Good morning from the NE where we have had a brief rosy glow in the sky. It is starting to rain now.
Yesterday DS arrived before 10am and brought a surprise visitor with him. GD1 had come up from Leeds on the train. We had a lovely day talking and shopping.
Late afternoon DS collected GD2 from school where she had been rehearsing for Chicago. It had been open day at school and she had played the piano for prospective pupils and their parents, she is now working on her grade 6 pieces.
Today is going to be a quiet day, no visitors.
I shall spend time reading.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a cloudy and dull Black Country,

It was a lovely sunny day yesterday. My friend and I caught the bus to Wolverhampton. Had lunch in a cafe there called Lupo Lounge. There are quite a few of these 'Lounges' in the country. I had the Buddha Bowl and it was delicious.

The play Wonder Boy, was certainly different. I thought it was ok, my friend loved it. There was quite a lot of swearing though. It was a relaxed performance and the dialogue was up on the screen, which I like as with my hearing, I do miss a lot of it when I go to the theatre.

Today we are invited to DS's for Sunday lunch with Mum. DIL parents will be there too, so there will be at least 9 or 10 of us.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday

Good morning from a damp Torbay.

Hope you manage more 💤, Taichinan and Puss; DH regularly has wakeful periods but then dozes in the day. I think having part of his thyroid removed might explain it although he is taking Thyroxin.

Today we have our Harvest Festival, too, but non-perishable food only has been requested for the food bank, to which our church regularly contributes. Later I have a rehearsal for Wind in the Willows so DH will enjoy cooking our evening meal in my absence.

I love watching Morris Dancers, Susan56; I expect H was fascinated and perhaps it provided a chance for you to put your worries to one side, if only briefly.

A blessed Sunday to all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩
