Good morning from N Bucks here it is grey and chilly.
It changes fron day to day doesn’t it? Yesterday in London it was sunny and crisp and GS and his little friends , still wearing their “Greek God” costumes could carry on the fun by rampaging around the little park beside his school. The theme of the assembly was Ancient Greece and it was a joy to watch. Oh but those of you who watch/watched Motherland would have laughed at the parents! So true to life.
By one of life’s coincidences, SIL told me they had taken Flynn to some kids’ activity in Suffolk or Norfolk a while ago and he had commented how like Motherland it all was , turned a corner and came face to face with Anna Maxwell Martin with her daughter!
As always London was busy and I have woken up tired so nothing planned for today. Goodness knows how I’ll manage 4 days in Paris next weekend!
PS, yes Ash I was lucky to see “Fille” last week and it’s gorgeous. Memorable for the wit and humour especially of the chickens and of course the clog dance as well as the beautiful dancing by the principals. (And by having Carlos Acosta slipping into the seat directly behind me 🤩🤩🤩)
Kind thoughts and hopes of improvement to all who are poorly and a pleasant Saturday to you all.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and wet
Understandable about worrying gMattie and cornergran you’ll both pleased when everyone is home safely
Nothing much planned today except getting packed for a week away in a Northumberland cottage next week, DH wants to do the Hadrian’s Wall sights and I’m looking forward to the castles, wild coastline and gardens
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from a very overcast and grey Northampton; showers forecast later.

Yesterday turned out lovely weatherwise, and I got a load (woollens and jeans) dried ouside. Was up in time to do breakfast for the DGDs and get them off to school before 8am. Then it was dance classes for me and a coffee afterwards with a fellow dancer. I also popped in to the village cobbler who does all sorts, and got new keys copied for my back door.

Elder DGD was picked up for her date late afternoon, and they set off for food followed by the cinema. She was home before 10pm! DGD2 and I settled down to pizza, fries and chocolate.cake.

DGD1 has dance and stage school this morning, and will go straight to her friend's afterwards where she will spend the night. DGD2 will accompany me to the surgery for my Covid and flu jabs, then we will head to the shops for lunch and a mooch.

Hope things settle down for you Mick, and that you feel well again soon.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather gloomy South Yorkshire. Supposed to be a nice day. We’ll see. After the chiropodist left yesterday morning SiL was supposed to come and change the batteries in my smoke alarm, which I can’t reach, but he had a meeting and couldn’t come until the afternoon so it rather scuppered my plans to have a drive out into the Peak District. As it was, I had a bit of a hangover from my covid jab so I did some work in the house and had a walk late afternoon. I also discovered that the toilet is leaking in the en-suite🙄 so I shall have to call the plumber today and see when he can call. No particular plans today except a food shop and maybe some baking.
Have the best day you can folks.

Hank you for all your reassurance. DD is going for 10 days - Jo’burg, Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
I know that she’ll be safe, it once a mum…. (Also the extra of having lost one, I couldn’t bear losing another)

Good morning everyone from a grey, dry and chilly Essex. No frost though!
jax good that your pub has a ne experienced tenant, I hope it all works out well.
grandmattie I hope that your DD has a good trip to South Africa and returns safely.
bellas welcome home! I hope you can get your spectacles fixed quickly.
susan I hope you enjoy Chitty Chitty bang bang this evening. My late DH had POA for his mum who had had a stroke, some of the companies he dealt with were on the ball, but others didn’t seem to have much idea about how to proceed with a POA. Hopefully things have improved in the last 12 years! Good luck with all the admin.
corner I hope that your granddaughters visit to their grandmother goes well and that they don’t find it too upsetting.
A quiet day here, will change the bedclothes, I’m trying to decide if it’s cold enough for the 10.5 duvet!
Have a good day everyone.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a dry Oxfordshire, Alexa tells me it will rain later, we shall see, yesterday MrOops had to scrape ice from the windscreen of his car. He then spent hours in a cold house waiting for the ‘Gas man to cometh’,
MrOops isn’t well known for his patience.

Meanwhile I unlocked for the Window cleaner and had my car Valeted, both arrived early.

Not sure what is happening today, maybe pack for our holiday next week, we might pop down to see MrOops sister who’s husband is very ill.
Not sure if they will want visitors though, my SIL will let us know, their large family will be in and out with their children, so I think they might rather that we don’t go down again, BIL finds noise very trying and unless we are outdoors we will all be in the one room with the hospital bed in the middle.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can and that we get some more sunshine, yesterday was a lovely crisp Autumnal day.

Bonnybanko Sat 12-Oct-24 07:05:09

Good morning all from a very dark, windy and cold east coast of Fife. It’s expected to rain today so I’ll just pop the heating up and stay cosy watching Netflix. My friends coming today to pick up my home made lentil soup with a carton of Emlea it’s really delicious with Emlea and Elmlea has a reduced fat content (I think) anyway it’s really very tasty even if I say so myself, I might even give her the French stick I have in the fridge.

Have a good day my friends stay warm and safe.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry. GrandMattie of course you worry. I don't think we ever grow out of that. I'm sure your dd will be fine though. Ash have a lovely time at the ballet. Bellasnana good to hear that you are home safe. And your Florida family are ok too.
Yesterday dd popped in with dgs2 after playgroup. Unfortunately grandma had no soup and dgs2 was inconsolable. He cried for ages and would not be diverted. Eventually he came out of it but he hasn't had a meltdown like that for ages. It isn't really credit to my soup! He doesn't like change to his routine at all. After they left, I pottered about and my missing packages arrived.
Today I'll go to Aldi and stock up with food supplies. I'm meeting up with a friend for breakfast. We haven't met up for a few weeks, so it'll be nice to see her. Then I'll change the duvet cover for my new autumnal one and get the washings all done. A pleasant day ahead if mostly house based. Have a good day all

Jaxjacky Sat 12-Oct-24 07:01:17

Morning, it’s dry I think.
Understandable to be worried grandMattie how long is she going for?
Good you are back home Bella enjoy this evening.
The best news yesterday, our community pub is being reopened, there is a new, experienced, tenant coming in soon.
I have no great plans today, newspaper, might bung the vacuum round, pot roast for dinner.

Good morning from s somerset, gloom for a few hours then a bit brighter for the rest of the day

The temperature inside is definitely dropping and is one whole degree less in my living room this morning. I have slowly adapted and am warm in my hand made long Woolen dressing gown. I got fed up of electric shocks from man-made fleecy fabrics and I never wear anything poly now and the shocks have stopped

I did a lot of outside work yesterday in the communal turning paved area. It started with me, only ever me, cleaning out the nearest storm drain. I took out the tiny weedlets from the big area of pavers and did a lot of brushing with a hard brush. It was a good form of exercise so I abandoned my walk. As always this neatness is only ever done by the mysterious magic fairy

Lots of knitting done and I am pleased with my jumper, I tried it on with the aid of barber cord, to hold all the stitches safe. I have one and a half sleeves left to knit and this time I will make the effort to block properly. Being indoors and needing a break from knitting every so often, I browsed for some more good knitting notions, which I duly bought, plus another nice project bag from etsy

More knitting today, perhaps a walk, definitely watching youtube and am liking what I find, especially a particular male knitter who has a lovely voice and makes beautiful garments.

Have a good day

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, dry (I think), decidedly chilly corner of Somerset.

A short walk on an empty and beautiful beach left me cheered if exhausted yesterday. Mr C is so much better he cajoled (bullied!) me into the car. Poor man feels responsible. Back to dust watching for most of today I think. Still positive so not getting near others.

I’m concerned for our teenagers this weekend. Their dad is driving them to visit their maternal grandma who is three hours away and living with advanced dementia. Our granddaughters really want to see her which is wonderful, my worry is their reception as sadly she can react violently when disturbed. It is thought best that our son does not visit so our granddaughters will be alone with a carer. Sensibly overnight accommodation is booked to allow processing space. I’m probably worrying for nothing but will be pleased when they are all back home.

Take it easy mick, hope you remain settled today. Understand your worry grandmattie, we never stop, do we? Welcome home bella.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a dry and calm Torbay.

Your worries regarding your DD are understandable, grandMattie. I expect the charity will liaise with local security forces in the interests of protecting their staff but, as mothers, we do worry, no matter how old the offspring.

Today we are going by train to Plymouth for a performance of La Fille Mal Gardée with Birmingham Royal Ballet. I believe RosiesMaw2 enjoyed this in Birmingham recently. We are lucky that such a prestigious company comes to Devon.

It’s a relief to know your Florida family is safe, Bellasnana and I hope you’re now home in the sunshine and feeling fully well now.

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩💐🩰🥰🦩

Bellasnana Sat 12-Oct-24 06:28:26

Good morning from Malta where a pleasant 27°C is forecast.

We had a good last day in Krakow, visited the Schindler Museum which, again, was harrowing . Our guide was extremely good and also told us about how her grandparents and great-grandparents had been involved in the holocaust.

We had lunch at a restaurant we discovered earlier in the week. The food was so good and the vegetarian options suited me very well indeed.

Flight home was the usual, lots of standing around waiting to board, then a very noisy family sitting behind me who kept kicking and banging my seat.

I was so glad to get home! It has been a mixed week, I’m glad I went, but I will not be in any hurry to go travelling any time soon.

This morning I will pick my dear dog up from his holiday at kennels. It’s very quiet without him!

Later I will take my poor broken glasses to the optician to see if they can be fixed. One of the lenses is badly scratched and the arm broken after my fall in the Salt Mines.

This afternoon I have a hair appointment and will then go to babysit my beloved boys while DD3 and SiL go out for the evening.

Take care all and hope you have a good day.☀️

Good morning from Bristol. We’ve had rain in the night and more i# forecast for this morning.
The Spanish class went well, although 5 of the 9 students were absent. There’s one young woman (we’re mostly over 50) who comes in with her breakfast and consumes it during the class!
Straight after, I took a different bus to DD’s. I was anxious because I lose myself incredibly easily and then panic, but it was all ok. We had a quiet lunch together chatting as we rarely do, since the whole family is usually around, noisy, demanding…. It was really lovely.
She helped me with various things, legal paperwork mostly - again. Then we talked (very little) about her upcoming trip to South Africa with Christian Aid. I’m dreadfully worried as she will, naturally, be going to the most dodgy area of town/townships in the biggest cities, to see the work the charity is doing. She’s going this evening.
Today, we have church coffee. A Green Bristol MP was coming to join us to talk/discuss environment but has called off; “something has come up”. A real shame.
I think I’m going to a Philip Glass concert this evening in the local Methodist church, I need to confirm…
I hope the poorlies can manage their symptoms today. Hugs and 💐
