Today , a relaxing day with some catch as to cycling on TV, general housework also .

Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, it’s dry, chilly and grey skies here in south Glos.
I spent most of yesterday in bed after walking the dog, subsequently I had a restless night. I feel blah this morning 🙄
I’m really not sure what’s going on, it can’t be Covid (I haven’t been anywhere, the surgery was empty when I had my shingles jab), I haven’t seen anyone much for a week except my sister and friend, both of whom are well.
Anyway, let’s see how today goes!
Thinking of all of you who are poorly or having buggerations in your lives 🤗💐

LaCrepescule Sun 13-Oct-24 08:15:23

Hollysteers You and me both; I didn’t think surgery would take it out of me so much and as I’m usually very active, being stuck at home has made me feel quite low.
But this too shall pass. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Good morning from a bright but cold Essex coast.
DH is back to rugby with his grandsons this morning, I have a casserole to make and more admin to get out of the way.
We had our flu jabs yesterday and I have a very sore arm and didn't sleep too well, DH as usual had no reaction.
I'm sorry to hear about your dad, Pantglas, it's very worrying when parents fall.
GM, another fan of Philip Glass here. I fell in love with his music after seeing the film The Hours.
I hope you all have a good Sunday, best wishes xx

Marydoll Sun 13-Oct-24 08:12:03

God morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where Alexa tells ne it is only 1°C.

I just wanted to send hugs to Baubles, Pants and GM.💕

I woke up during the night to my darling Dollie's arms around me. The best medicine, I could ask for. 😍

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.

GrannySomerset Sun 13-Oct-24 08:12:00

Cold and bright seems to be the forecast for today so may need to dig out a warm jacket when I go to church. Otherwise a day of newspaper and sorting warm clothes so that I don’t have to make decisions every morning. Too much choice becomes confusing and at least if I am only choosing from my winter wardrobe it will be easy. Hope today brings some joy and healing to all who need it.

I don’t normally post here but find it very uplifting; people finding joy in the simple things and expressing gratitude.
I’ve been laid up for over 2 weeks following foot surgery and had started to feel sorry for myself - this will not do!
I’m reading Dickens (Dombey and Son,) Radio 3 is on and the dog is curled at my feet. And the sun is shining in Hertfordshire today.
What more can I ask? Have a lovely Sunday all x

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. It is very cold though and the cars are frosted up.
Pantglas I'm sorry to hear about your dad. It's such a worry when they can't find out what is wrong. Brook enjoy your trip. You'll need a big jumper as it is cold here. grannygravy I'll be making the cake and puddings this week too. Hollysteers it's good to hear from you. Lots of rest. GrandMattie the concert sounds lovely.
Yesterday I was a veritable whirlwind of activity. Shopping do one, soup made, housework completed, bed stripped and other washing done too. And throw in a catch up with a friend for breakfast. We were just about to eat when two wee voices said,"grandma" and I was cuddled. Dd, Dsil and the boys were in for breakfast too. It was lovely to see them all.
Today I have to get milk because Aldi didn't have their supply in yesterday and I'm running out. I'll make a chicken pot pie mixture in the slow cooker today and have some for dinner. Lots of soup and pie will be frozen too. I'll visit mum as well. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and All from a clear South Bucks.

Will be watching the Tennis Final in Shanghai today. Fingers crossed for Sinner not Novak.

Off to NT Cliveden this morning for a walk through their lovely Oriental Garden.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks dry and clear.

Beginning to feel more like doing things and plan a potter in the garden today, some bulbs to plant. Mr C is up and down, he’s overdoing things during the good days but will he listen? Thankfully all went well for our granddaughters yesterday, they managed things beautifully, we’re so proud of them both

That weak feeling is horrid hollysteers, hope it passes soon. Pleased all went well and you’re being cared for. Take it easy, please. Sounds a better day mick. A nourishing thing to do grandmattie, a day of memories for you. Oh heck pantglas, hope your Dad will be OK, Friday certainly brought challenges.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire.

Photo of the sunrise from my window.

Sorry to hear that your Dad has had another fall Pantglass.

Lots of R&R needed now hollysteers.

I’m feeling rather battered having had three lots of bad news in the last two days.

Mass this morning the a walk with daft dug this afternoon I think.

Ashcombe Sun 13-Oct-24 07:43:27

Good morning from a dry, clear Torbay.

Your poor Dad, Pantglas2, having these inexplicable falls. It's something that seems to happen for some as our sense of balance can become less reliable as we age.

It’s good you have been able to keep active since losing your DH, grandMattie but significant dates are never easy. The concert sounds intriguing.

Good to see Mizuna and I hope you make a full recovery, hollysteers.

Our trip to the ballet was very successful. As we enjoyed lunch in a nearby pub, we were joined by a couple we know from our theatre in Torquay. She used to act and direct but is now living in Ashburton and writes murder mystery novels which I’ve recommended on here before: her name is Stephanie Austin.

They were also heading for the ballet which was delightful and performed to a virtually full house. A very accessible, lighthearted story, beautifully delivered, La Fille Mal Gardée has elements of pantomime, Morris dancing and clog dancing, a real Shetland pony besides the more traditional ballet routines, all faultlessly performed. Recommended for anyone sampling their first ballet performance.

Church and a Wind in the Willows rehearsal today. A blessed Sunday to all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

brook2704 Sun 13-Oct-24 07:40:22

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a cold and frosty start to the day
Hope you’re well on the road to recovery now Holly what a kind DD you have
We’re off to Northumberland today for a change of scenery and to explore some new places - I’m hoping the weather isn’t too wet! Stopping off at Stirling Castle and the Kelpies en route
Sorry to hear about your dads fall Pantglas
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Sun 13-Oct-24 07:37:42

Good morning everyone from Essex where it’s dry, sunny and chilly. I hope it stays dry today so that I can maybe do a little gardening. pantglas sorry your dad is falling over more, my dad also had frequent falls, but I don’t think a cause was ever discovered unfortunately.
holly I’m pleased your surgery went well and that your DD is looking after you so well. I hope the pain and discomfort ease soongrandmatty the concert sounds interesting.
A quiet day for me yesterday, changed the sheets and washed them, didn’t bother to hang them out as there wasn’t much wind. I used the dryer today, so they are ready to iron today.
Hoping to see one or both DDs today, there are a few things I need help with! I need to put some of the garden chairs away but can’t fold them up myself.
I hope Sunday is kind to us all.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 13-Oct-24 07:33:57

Morning all

Mick good that you are on the mend

Hollysteers rest, rest and rest some more 🌸

DD and boys will be here for dinner later (roast chicken), I need to check I have all the ingredients for my Christmas puddings. Onions are now in jars pickling away.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone 🙋‍♀️

hollysteers Sun 13-Oct-24 06:52:42

Good morning Mick and all from a chilly northwest coast.
After laparoscopic op for double hernia on Thursday home the next day and pain and discomfort since, to be expected, but DD a star, really looking after me. I’m very blessed. I’ve forgotten how weak one is after surgery and looking forward to feeling stronger.

Been thinking about you and your health troubles too Mick, it’s no joke.
Thoughts to GM Pantglas and thanks to Jackjasky for remembering me🌺

Bellasnana Sun 13-Oct-24 06:43:25

Good morning from Malta where the weather is still sunny and a high of 29°C expected.

Sorry your dad had another fall, Pantglas. It must be concerning when there doesn’t seem to be a reason for it.

grandMattie I’m glad you found something lovely to do on what was a day of bittersweet memories for you.💐

Yesterday I was glad to be able to watch the tennis semi finals from Shanghai having missed all the matches leading up to it.

Had a much needed hair do in the afternoon then went to the boys who both gave me such lovely cuddles. I stayed on to babysit. Both DD3 and SiL said they would not be late but I actually had to message them at 1am as I was worn out.

Both boys were unsettled, coughing and sniffly so I had one or both of them up all evening. Poor little souls, it’s miserable when they are unwell.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning then I will see how I feel. FaceTime with my friend in Leicester at some point, maybe Mass, and tennis final.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

karmalady Sun 13-Oct-24 06:43:19

Good morning from s somerset, it may well be rather sunny today

I spent all morning in the garden yesterday, probably doing the last winter tidy with three big trugs going to recycling. Knitting is also proceeding well and just one sleeve left before I need to unearth my blocking mats

I feel the surrounding change in energy, the season transition. It is nice to be able to go with the natural flow so again I will take today as it comes. I can see me going on a longer cycle ride, on my pedelec bike but only if the sun entices me this morning

I have ordered a knitting hat kit for one dd, she has knit her first scarf and it is time to progress, I will be there to get her started with dpns, the pattern is not beginner, but she handles tiny implements every day so small dpns won't put her off.

Have a good day

Mizuna Sun 13-Oct-24 06:39:30

Good morning from my patio swing seat in darkest Cornwall. Not a glimmer of light yet. A lovely little breeze is wafting from the sea. My Dry Robe's wrapped around me and a mug of coffee is nearby. Bliss.

Susan56 Sun 13-Oct-24 06:24:47

Good morning from Shropshire where a dry day is forecast.

We had a lovely day in Liverpool once we eventually parked🤯Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was really good.

Today DD2 and family are coming over so she can help me activate POA for my mum.

Sorry your dad has had another fall Pantglas and really hope a cause can be found. An emotional day for you with completion on your Casa too.

Sounds like a brilliant evening grandMattie.

Glad your health is settling down.

Thinking of all unwell and those with worries and struggles and wishing everyone the best day possible🦩💐

grandMattie Sun 13-Oct-24 06:07:12

Good morning from Bristol.
Mick,I’m glad the drugs are starting to work.
It would have been our 47th wedding anniversary today; we just missed our 45th.
I went to a little talk, then concert of minimalist music by Einaudi and Glass last night at the local URC church. I’m so glad I went; I haven’t been to a proper concert for years.
The Einaudi was a revelation. I had heard a lot of the beautiful film music, but this was something else. The exquisite and minute changes that occur in each repetition are both soporific and fascinating. Glass, in this case his violin concerto, is louder but also requires attention to notice each tiny changes in key or whatever. A very enjoyable evening.
My quilt isn’t proceeding very fast, mostly because I have”gone off” it. I shall have to apply myself.
Just church today and, possibly, make a squash chutney with the ginormous squash given to me by the vicar.
Carpe diem. 🦩🦩🦩🦩
