The usual routine of having a bus trip to Bicester ,and meet some I do know , before coming home .

Good morning from East Lothian. Very late as was listening to radio 4 and then dozed off again. We had a lovely day yesterday, visiting Edinburgh’s Botanic Gardens. DD can borrow a mobility scooter there and most of the gardens are accessible (her own scooter is one that folds up to go in the car but it is not as comfy and stable as the Botanics ones). The trees were glorious in the sun. (*Beechnut*, I love your description of the lorry you were following, making the leaves dance in the road).

Today, (what’s left of it!) I will finish planting in DD’s garden and try to sort their compost bins which are stuffed full apart from the one which is ‘resting’ and may need to be emptied.

Lovely photos from those on holiday. Hope you enjoy your travels today, Mizuna 🙂. Sorry about your BiL, Oops but hope you enjoy your break in Spain.
Glammagran, how lovely that your hedgehog likes his home. My DD down south has a house but no hedgehog last winter though they have been seen in the garden.
Holly, the teaspoons of puréed food sounds very frustrating but it’s good you’ve been able to get out - don’t overdo it!
Grandmabatty, colds are horrible - one of the hazards of childcare 😬. Coddle yourself and feel better soon.
Greyduster, sneezing while driving is a nightmare - hope your attacks clear up quickly.
Jaxjacky, your mention of the cobwebs highlighted in the mist reminded me of the ones we saw in the woods last week. I’ll attach a photo if I can!

Thinking of all with health and emotional challenges 🌹

And a wave to Blossoming and Kalu. Not sure whether they might read the thread or not. My thoughts are with them this morning. x

Good morning all. Clear blue skies on the Angus coast at present.
Gingster it is the Hunter's Moon and is also a Super Moon. Even though it was cloudy and raining last night, the sky was so bright it was almost daylight. I have my fingers crossed for a cloudless night tonight so I can see it in all it's glory before it begins to wane.
Lovely pictures grandmattie - enjoy your Spanish odyssey.
I gave the class - and me! - an energetic workout yesterday at tai chi but I was probably the only one it exhausted 😉.
It was a beautiful day but the washing (hung out at first light) didn't completely dry and needed to finish off indoors.
Today is more of the same regarding weather - but no washing to do just ironing. So a good tidy round here is on the cards.
By the way, do any of you use echinea to boost your immune system and ward off colds? I read about it in an article weighing up all the pros and cons of 'alternative' medicine and it was highly recommended. I've been taking it for more than 20 years and haven't had a cold since I started it (or else I'd already had every cold known to man!). Last week I started sneezing, had a sore throat and felt feverish so I took an extra echinacea tablet - you can't overdose on them - and no cold ensued. It's worth a try, I promise.
Has anyone heard from ekwanimity? Or is she on holiday perhaps.
Have a good day all, whether at home or away.

Good morning everyone from a damp but mild south Manchester. The sun is trying to shine anyway. Alexa tells me it’s 8°C and will be 14°C later.

Himself plans to attend the coffee group at the MacMillan Centre. I don’t like going so much I find it unsettles me so I’m staying home to let the curtain man in. He’s rehanging the silk curtains that he took down and away for cleaning and pressing. I think it’s going to be an expensive transaction. His wife made these curtains for us when we moved in. Almost 15 years ago now. Cost per usage - buttons I suppose.

Jaxjacky Fri 18-Oct-24 09:12:17

Morning vrm a misty S Hants the damp is highlighting loads of cobwebs in the garden, very pretty.
Harvest Moon Gingster third of the four super moons this year.
Yesterday the violas were all potted into baskets or tubs, I prefer them to pansies.
Today Tesco delivery, pub tonight - a different one, ours re opens on Sunday 🙂.

Oops flowers. So very sad.

Grandmabatty Fri 18-Oct-24 08:41:11

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. Ash sympathy, I have picked up dgs2's cold and sore throat. GrandMattie* what a lovely holiday. You too, Oops.
Yesterday I did little except sneeze and make bread.
Today I'll do even less. I'll tidy up the kitchen and hoover, but that's all. I'm feeling a bit stuck in the doldrums and will allow a day of moping then tomorrow I will make myself get to town. Have a good day all

harrigran Fri 18-Oct-24 08:38:45

Good morning from a sunny NE.
The street is noisy, people moving wheelie bins and there have been a couple of big delivery wagons.
DD and SIL are coming today and we are going out for lunch. This evening we are going to a Sheku Kanneh-Mason concert, DD will stay overnight because they are taking me to the hospital tomorrow morning.
Happy holidays to those travelling.
Have a good weekend everyone.

GrannySomerset Fri 18-Oct-24 08:36:47

After an hour or more of workmen fiddling with my heating my bedroom radiator is still not working so I am waiting to hear if someone will look at it today. I thought I had got it sorted before the weather got cold but no such luck. I will probably miss the oldies’ coffee morning but I do need it to be working. Meanwhile we have a cloudless sky though yet more rain is forecast for later, so a short potter outside is called for.

ginny Fri 18-Oct-24 08:31:53

Good morning all. After a beautiful autumn day yesterday it is dull and misty here at the moment.

Off to the hairdressers is a short while and then to a local nursery to buy a few more bulbs and some winter pansies.

Lunch out with 3 friends , a pudding to make for tomorrow and then babysitting this evening.

Healing thoughts for all who need them and a good day wished for everyone.

Beechnut Fri 18-Oct-24 08:30:27

Greyduster I had a many sneezing episode after being out in the woods a few weeks ago. Could that be your cause?

Beechnut Fri 18-Oct-24 08:28:20

Good morning everyone from Severnside. Lots of light cloud up there. The moon was lighting up the patio when I went to bed last night.

On my way to do the grocery shop yesterday I followed a lorry who was making the fallen leaves dance in the road.

I’ve got some washing in the machine and when it’s finished I’m going swimming. I’ve not been for a few weeks and I’m hoping a different day with a later start will mean I will go more as the mornings get darker.
Oops💐

Enjoy your day all 🌻

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk day. Yesterday was beautiful after a dreary start.

We’ve been so lucky weather wise in this part of the country..

We’ll probably go to the local common with the dog for a stroll and coffee and cake if DH feels up to it. He started feeling nauseous and unsteady on Monday afternoon and was very tired. He self diagnosed an ear infection and took seasickness tablets!

He felt better yesterday so hopefully today will be a good day for him. Thinking of those who are unwell or caring for others.

NannyJan53 Fri 18-Oct-24 08:14:06

Good morning from a misty Black Country.

Still feeling a bit off colour, and now MrJ has it! Should be taking Mum for her two jabs, but postponed it yet again. Someone I know has been in Hospital for the past 2 weeks with Covid, despite having up to date jabs! So be careful out there everyone.

Lovely photo gM where are you? Must have missed the post about where you are going.

No plans today again, just another day of rest.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

grandMattie Fri 18-Oct-24 08:03:40

Sorry, having problems with internet and flaky hotel WiFi.
Uneventful journey here. To my utter delight, the tour guide has given me a permanent seat towards the centre of the coach.
Bilbao and the Guggenheim today.
Nice hotel, WI ladies need taming, although travelling on my own, I don’t bite!

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Housework and decluttering are on the cards today. I also need to make sure I have everything I need from Aldi they are shutting Sunday for a refit reopen next Friday.
Condolences to you and your family Oopsadaisy 💐
Take care all enjoy your day whatever your plans ☀️

brook2704 Fri 18-Oct-24 07:56:55

Good mourning everyone from Northumberland where I’m looking over the hills, it’s a clear sky but misty in the valley
Sorry to hear about your BiL Oops sending condolences 💐
We enjoyed a long walking day yesterday so today I think we’re going to explore Warkworth and a couple of the coastal villages.
Gorgeous pictures gMattie beautiful view
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

hollysteers Fri 18-Oct-24 07:54:45

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Quite active yesterday, a week after op. DS took me for a gentle drive. I had a cushion between the seatbelt and my stitches and we tried to avoid bumps. Sunny day too.

In the evening I walked to the postbox with a birthday card and it seemed to have moved further away….
The teaspoon puréed food continues and ‘mealtimes’ are a real chore.
Lots of tv being watched, not my usual activity.

Lovely view grandmattie and thoughts to all🌺
.

Morning from a misty corner of S E Essex

The 9yr old has enjoyed an egg and back sandwich, he is ready to go to school.

I have woken with a headache, rather annoying as I have a busy morning, gym, coffee and catch up with some friends, then the dreaded but much needed Covid booster.

A long shower and hair wash, school pick up, then it’s glamour on for dinner with DH at a local Malaysian restaurant, the food is divine as are the staff and decor.

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

NanKate Fri 18-Oct-24 07:53:02

Good morning Mick and All from a misty South Bucks.

I went to my 92 year old friend’s Memorial Service yesterday it was done so well. I didn’t cry until the end when they played ‘Time to say goodbye’ by Sarah Brightman., such a beautiful song. Her family had flown over from Colorado.

I couldn’t access Rafa’s match Bellasnana but maybe that was for the best.

BlueSapphire Fri 18-Oct-24 07:44:49

Good morning everyone from a very foggy Northampton, but sunny spells are forecast later. I still hope to get the towels out on the line before I go to my dance classes. My load of bedding dried beautifully outside yesterday, and I was able to get one of the spare room beds made up again.

Finished my spy novel yesterday, and am keen to start the next one in the series so I think a visit to the library is on the cards. Noticed the rest of the series on the shelf last time I was there.

Early dinner then out to rugby, Friday night under the lights again tonight, and we have another light show with our phones as our team comes out. Must wrap up warm tonight so it's on with the thermals!

Best wishes to those travelling and hope today is kind to all.
