Anyone come across these?

Honestly, talk about cruelty!

They look like those little Gremlins on the films (not the cute Gremlin, but the vicious one). Why would anyone breed such a creature, it’s beyond cruel.

BlueBelle Sat 19-Oct-24 17:57:17

These awful deformed animals always seem to start in USA
I hope no one buys them or imports them here

Babs03 Sat 19-Oct-24 18:09:24

This is so cruel, breeding pets to suit a particular market. There should be legislation against it. Whatever we wouldn’t like to have done to us we shouldn’t do to any other living thing.
And as for the people who buy these pets as status symbols or accessories, putting their pets on instagram, and indeed if we can believe it getting rid of pets that don’t look good on instagram, they are the lowest of the low.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 19-Oct-24 18:24:42

Abhorrent

MissAdventure Sat 19-Oct-24 18:26:57

It should be illegal to breed what are, in effect, disabled animals.
People are such selfish fools.

I couldn't agree more with all of that. It's abhorrent.

If nobody shows an interest or buys them the breeders will stop with these dreadful Frankenstein animals.

I agree, but the type of people who both breed these and those who buy them are clearly not decent human beings!

It’s like some sort of horrific experiment!

Hear, hear, MissAdventure,
We need to bring in far more stringent & humane laws regarding animal welfare. Animals have been exploited for far too long by cruel, ignorant morons. Yet if you try to protest your called a crank & a weirdo My awful sister said it to me when I went on a animal rights march (and said and I quote)
"What's wrong with putting a bit of eyeshadow on them"!!!!! (Ignorant fool!)
That was 35yrs ago and things have not changed very much for many poor creatures , particularly those abroad. 😢

AGAA4 Sat 19-Oct-24 19:40:32

It's vile what some human beings do to animals. Makes me want to weep for these poor creatures.

ElaineI Sat 19-Oct-24 19:43:41

That is so horrible! I think the Sphinx cats look weird but to interbreed cats unnaturally is going too far. These poor kittens. Must be freezing in this country. Are there not laws to prevent this for all animals? All my cats have been moggies. I would love another cat but DH not keen. He was very upset when our last had to be PTS (old age & kidney failure). She had a happy life though.

pascal30 Sat 19-Oct-24 19:48:20

so utterly cruel.. but of course people will buy them just because they are mutants.. and not care about their wellbeing..

Deedaa Sat 19-Oct-24 20:15:50

I'm not keen on Sphynx cats anyway (I hadn't realised that their life span only averages 6 1/2 years) but these mutants are truly hideous. The health problems they are storing up must be horrendous.

annodomini Sat 19-Oct-24 20:31:30

Who buys these poor, sad, exploited creatures? And why?

valdali Sat 19-Oct-24 20:36:04

Another who doesn't like Sphinx cats. They have been around for at least 50 years.

I quite agree with your sentiment.

We as a country are so slow to act over things like this. As you say, the damned breeders are deliberately breeding disabled cats!

... I supposed banning the breed would be regarded as the nanny state "interfering again"...

No person who had respect for animals would own one of these poor creatures, they are beneath contempt. No fur, no whiskers, short legs - for what? So that idiotic and feeble-minded people can post photo's of their latest acquisition on Instagram?

SueDonim Sat 19-Oct-24 21:15:36

Poor little animals. They’re not playthings, they’re living, breathing creatures.

I’m not keen on Sphinx cats, either, they look so unnatural. I hadn’t realised their life span was so short. Poor things. sad

Shinamae Sat 19-Oct-24 21:19:46

Sickening 😥

biglouis Sat 19-Oct-24 21:28:13

They look like something out of a horror film.

henetha Sat 19-Oct-24 23:25:30

I opened the website expecting to see ugly cats but instead I saw monsters. Who on earth would want to buy one of these?
Apart from that, they suffer so much. Poor things.

My questions exactly! They are cruel, selfish, uncaring morons and I hate them!

The poor cats . Anyone wanting to own one must have something seriously wrong with them . There are enough cats and dogs needing good homes in rescue centres all over the country. If you want a cat or dog get one from there . America has a lot to answer for but so do anyone in the UK who imports and buyers these deformed cats. It will just encourage American and breeds in other parts of the world including the UK to tinker with breeding mutant species .

Plus there should be a ban on importing animals for pets from abroad . Help the animals in this country that needs loving home . Not just cats and dogs. My brother and sister in law have 4 rescue chickens and a cockerel. They have a lot of fresh eggs that they give away when they can't use all they lay.

Sphynx cats have an average lifespan of 15 years.
