U3A talk this morning and then lunch and a demonstration at flower club so a busy and interesting day ahead. Hard to know what to wear as it is quite warm, possibly warmer inside than out, and I had put my summer weight tops away. Lovely pictures this morning - thank you.

Morning from a grey S Hants. Glorious WWM2 I can smell Autumn through your pictures.
A busy trip gMattie enjoy the mountains today.
A very busy pub opening yesterday, the staff worked extremely hard, we were very lucky to win in the meat draw.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a breezy South Yorkshire. Not quite as windy as yesterday when I thought we would be blown off our feet crossing the pub car park for lunch. We had a lovely meal although it took rather a long time to come, and then came back here for pineapple upside down pudding. Harri I watched Young Musician of the Year last night and Ryan Wang’s performance of the Rach 2 had me in tears. 17 years old. Wow.
Not much planned for today except to make a chicken curry for the freezer and clean my bedroom.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everybody from a dry, quiet south Manchester. Last night’s wind and rain have disappeared. I’m glad, as I’m off through the park in an hour or so to see the Boy Wonder and make his lunches all week. He’s on his own until Friday when L’il Miss and his mum finish - they are all off together next week!

I’ll get a takeaway coffee from the independent cafe in the square (Costa, Starbucks and Greggs are down there too but they wouldn’t miss my business) and take my iPad.

Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from a dry dull Suffolk. As the days get shorter our sleep gets longer,so,instead of waking at around 7.30am,it’s getting nearer 8.30am.

Perhaps we’re going to hibernate this winter.

I didn’t get round to making the Christmas cake yesterday so it’s a job for this morning. I just sloshed a bit more brandy on the dried fruit which is soaking which I’m sure will improve it.

A quiet day at home before a busy week ahead and then family visiting for part of half term next.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where all is now calm and bright.
Yesterday was a pleasant day until late afternoon. The rain had gone by lunchtime and the sun came out so I found myself out in the garden after lunch. I removed a troublesome brute of a shrub rose and replaced it with a large fern. The soil is quite waterlogged with all the rain but the ferns seem to enjoy that corner. A nearby yew hasn't, it has turned orange and is apparently terminal so I removed that too. A trip to the garden centre is now due. I also planted more tulips in my raised bed. They seem to disappear over time and I'm wondering if they're being taken from below.
The wind got going strongly by dinner time and gave one of my fences a good battering. Another thing to worry about.

Today I'll change the bedding and do a bit of bathroom cleaning before tackling a backlog of admin, an unending job.

Best wishes to all you poorlies and wishing everyone a good day.

Apologies, I said cornergran when it should have read Georgesgran. That knock on the head I had in Poland has addled my brain.🙈

Gorgeous photos of autumn colours WhiteWave. Absolutely stunning! I’ve saved the one of the trees by a lake (?) to use as my screen on my iPad for a while. I’m also going to share it with my sister in Spain later as I know how much she will love it.

Beechnut Mon 21-Oct-24 09:09:26

Good morning all.
It is a gorgeous photo WhiteWave and FGT. It reminds me of the autumn we went to Stourhead.

cornergran Mon 21-Oct-24 09:36:36

No worries bella. My brain has no excuse to be addled, often muddle posters. smile.

A late Bonjour from Paris.
I slept like the proverbial log after a lovely day pottering round the wonderful market am for ingredients for supper (Non, Madame does not require the chicken head as well, merci)
Then off to the Marché aux Puces at Porte de Clignancourt - acres and acres of stalls and shops ranging from genuine antiques and vintage designer clothes to tat that you frankly would not give house room to!
Supper back at the flat and a film on synchronised iPads.
Today I am having a lazy morning, D and SIL have taken GS to a Japanese animé film at a cinema round the corner and I am having a shower and leisurely second cup of coffee.
The Impressionists at the Centre Pompidou this afternoon I think.
Wishing you all une bonne journée- this is our little courtyard- very French!

Taichinan Mon 21-Oct-24 09:39:37

Good morning all from a sunny but breezy Angus coast. I'm glad to say Storm Ashley was a non-event here in the east.
Glorious photos Whitewave.
Nothing to report from here - I kept battened down yesterday. Today I must stir myself and 'get things done', particularly some paperwork in connection with tai chi.
Have the best day you can everyone x

Good morning from a very grey north east. HGV lessons this afternoon.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 21-Oct-24 09:51:43

Good morning from a sunny morning between Calpe and Moraira,

MzOops has managed to lock herself out of the Annex to the house, so we are waiting for a locksmith, despite me putting the key on a lanyard and telling her 50 times to keep the key with her at all times………..stop nagging mum she said grrr. Problem is the key is still in the lock on the other side of the door…..l

Anyway, it’s no hardship to sit by the pool.

Hope everyone has a good day. Hugs for the poorly grans and for those who are stressed ( today that includes me)

Good morning from Central Scotland. Quite a few leaves lying about after the wind and rain yesterday. Wasn’t as bad as expected here though. Will miss reading Grandmabatty’s posts while she has a break from social media. I quite understand it as I am a lurker and only post occasionally, usually because I am up so much after the rest of you I do like my bed!!
I do enjoy reading all your posts though and following your travels. Looking forward to Cyprus next week although it is not too far away from Lebanon etc. Thoughts as always are with those with health and other problems.

hollysteers Mon 21-Oct-24 09:52:55

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast. A change from yesterday’s howling gales.

The district nurse took my stitches out yesterday, pretty painlessly, unlike some a remember many years ago that were like black barbed wire, ugh.
DD leaves today for the south and DS takes over, I’m sure I could manage, but it’s nice to be cared for. My Dsister from the south is hoping to come soon too. I’ve now lost one stone in twelve days.
Another quiet day in the offing. Lovely pics again and I’m jealous RosiesMaw, I love Paris.
Thoughts to all🌺

👋 to you whywhywhy. HGV lessons? I’m intrigued!

whywhywhy Mon 21-Oct-24 10:56:01

Thanks. I decided to give it a go before it is too late. Don’t worry I won’t be driving those massive lorries on the A1 or anything. Just something to tick on my bucket list.

whywhywhy Mon 21-Oct-24 10:58:11

Hugs for Harrigran. I know what you are going through. flowers

GrandmaC47 Mon 21-Oct-24 11:06:18

Dry, calm and brighter here. I too am a lurker and rarely post but so enjoy reading everyone’s doings. Wish I had as much energy and enthusiasm.
Biking to nowhere ( to quote on of you) while trying to post.
Wishing a better day to those with illnesses and happy holidays to those lucky travellers.

TheWeirdo Mon 21-Oct-24 11:59:30

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

It's 13.9C. here in little Appleby. It's been torrential rain most of the night with very strong winds, I love it! I had the bedroom window open all yesterday and last night and it was great! It was like poltergeist activity with all the winds gushing through and blowing my curtains around!

I've still got this bug and still on Amoxicillin but it looks like I'll be back to work in a couple of weeks.

I watched Wishmaster 1, two nights ago and number 2 last night staring Andrew Divoff as the djinn demon. Will be watching number 3 tonight!

I've just came back from having a pub breakfast and am snuggled on the settee with my lovely fleeces and a mug of tea!

Worrying not to have heard from MaryD for a few days.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 21-Oct-24 13:13:26

whywhywhy you are very brave with the HGV lessons 👏

Usedtobeblonde Mon 21-Oct-24 13:30:11

Marydoll has been posting on another thread as recently as yesterday.

Marydoll Mon 21-Oct-24 14:19:22

Thank you LLF for your kindness.

In response to the comment that I posted as late as yesterday, I posted ( from my sick bed) solely on a thread to respond to Mizuna about a health query.
In fact, I have gone from a prolific poster, to rarely posting on GN recently.

My health is very unstable at the moment, as the Glasgow Grans know and consequently, my mood is very low. A heart scare a the weekend has knocked my confidence again.1
Being very unwell first thing in the morning does make posting difficult, hence my absence from the GM thread.
By the time things settle down, its rather late to post.

However, after seeing the comment that I have been posting, I realised that I need to clarify.
Better to read and enjoy all your upbeat posts, than be a grumpy old woman and bring down this lovely thread, with my moans! 😉
The photos and news of holidays brighten my day.

I am feeling rather overwhelmed and frustrated at the moment, knowing that not much can be done to improve my quality of life.
I will do what I always do, hunker down, and hope this passes.

Love to all those kind and supportive posters, who have shown concern. X
