Good Morning from mid-Lancs. Storm Ashley been and gone and now it's oddly mild - 14 degrees before 6am? But no rain....yet. Fingers crossed!

Good morning from a dark Durham. The wind has been horrendous and I had to switch off the security lights - they were
going on and off like Christmas decorations!
It was after 2 when I went to bed, then coughed all night, rounded off by a nightmare. I’m exhausted, but I’ll come back later and read later posts.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a still dark NE where it has been windy all night, so ad I had to wear earplugs to get some sleep.
Been awake since 4.30am with a sore arm where I had my covid and flu vaccinations.
Yesterday was very emotional. After dinner DD, SIL and I watched the final of young musician and I spent the evening in tears. Both pianists played my late DH's favourite concerto and on the anniversary of his death was just overwhelming.
DD and SIL return to Brussels in the morning, it was wonderful to see her three days in a row.
Quiet day for me with my book.

Good morning from a quiet dry South Downs. What a contrast in weather we are having! The photos show autumn colour last Friday, which was the most beautiful autumn day you could wish for. Compare that to our weather yesterday, which will have brought all the leaves from the Hickory tumbling down. Blink and you will miss that glorious yellow. It was green last week and turned to yellow during the week - now is gone.

Enjoy your day all

Peace and harmony

One more😊

Good morning from sunny northern Spain.
Yesterday was packed full. First we went to Santillana del Mar, reputed to be the prettiest town in Spain. The golden sandstone are frozen in XVIIc. We had more time than usual and pottered through the church cloisters also found an improbable exhibition of embroidered Chinese silk vestments.
Next to the reproduction Altamira caves. I was disappointed by them as they were not guided and are much, much smaller than the Lascaux caves.
I wasn’t looking forward to going to the Cabarceno safari park but , as the site is so enormous in a vast disused opencast mine, the animals had plenty of space to roam.
Today, we’re off to the Picos de Europa, a long journey from here. Hope the weather holds.

Good morning from s somerset, might be dry today and sunny this afternoon, I hope so

I don`t see dust on the skirtings so I never dusted them, no doubt running a finger along would gather dust but who cares. Out of sight, out of mind. No housework yesterday apart from the daily routine stuff. I forgot to listen to the archers but good, that might be done today, unless I am concentrating again

I have started a new intricate jumper knitting pattern, no being quick with this as it is top down with german short rows as well as blocks of pattern. I am using my own spun yarn, It is beautiful, so even, soft and neat, 3 ply but woollen-spun ie more lofty. My stash is saving me a fortune

Today I am finally getting rid of two large indoor plant pots, self-watering so are bigger. The plants in them are past their best and they don`t give me that Marie Kondo happy feeling any more. Every bit of de-cluttering helps

I want to sort a better system for storage of my many fixed circular needles. I need better, easier, labelled access. More money but what the heck, I spent enough this weekend on beautiful tactile storage for my many chiaogoo interchangeables.

A walk as soon as possible, past a mill stream that is now loud and rushing, mucky underfoot as the water is only evaporating slowly off the tarmac, which is lumpy and broken as befits an old town

Have a good day

Good morning from a dry and calm Torbay.

The worst of the latest storm largely passed us by. Reading some of the earlier posts today makes it sound horrendous elsewhere. I hope no damage has been suffered.

Beautiful photos, Whitewavemark2!

A day and night of coughing has left me worn out! Another friend and I had hoped to visit a member of the Props team today who is still in hospital, nearly four weeks after her cancer diagnosis. It’s out of the question now as I dare not risk her catching this. Thank you for the get well wishes yesterday.

A good week is wished to you all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Malta where it’s cloudy with rain expected later. The predicted rain never materialised yesterday, it was sunny all day.

Sorry you are having problems Mick, it can’t be easy for you.

Hope you get the chance to have a nap to catch up on your interrupted sleep last night cornergran.

harrigran 💐

Lovely pictures WWM and gMattie.

The boys visited yesterday morning and were happy with all the things I had brought them from Poland, mostly musical things.

Littlest did not want to leave but I was going to Mass so he insisted on holding my hand as we walked to the church then cried piteously when his mum took him to the car. I know he s fine after a few minutes, but it breaks my heart.

Having my nails done this morning, a luxury I allow myself once a month, otherwise no plans.

Wishing you all a good day ☀️

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark dry if soggy underfoot corner of Somerset.

A wild day kept us indoors yesterday. Couldn't settle to anything and became seriously grumpy with the world. As the wind has dropped we’ll wander to a shopping mall today, checking out microwaves and air fryers. Also plan to use our final afternoon tea voucher.

Sounds a super holiday grandmattie.

flowers harri.

Beautiful colours whitewave.

Sorry you’ve been unsettled again mick, hope today is better. With thoughts to everyone finding life a challenge, hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from my hillside in south Glos, it’s dark but dry at the moment, hopefully dry all day as I really should do a bit of tidying in the garden. I’m reluctant to do much yet because everything is so green and lush, so many plants still in flower.
The woodland behind us is slowly changing colour, few leaves are falling.
I enjoyed several hours of needlework yesterday, more today! I had a lovely video chat with DGCs and DS, they’re coming down next weekend for a couple of days, very much looking forward to that.
Nothing much planned for this week, plenty of time for walking the dog and enjoying being outside.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Morning all, it’s still dark.

Beautiful pictures Whitewavemark2 and grandMattie

Oh well it’s Monday again, how time flies. Off to the gym first thing, then I need to go to the farm shop for veggies and there home grown and made sausages and bacon.

Pick up the 9yr old and The Imp from school and keep them amused until DD finishes work.

Finally feeling normal after Covid booster.

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a mild Black Country. Curtains not opened yet, but I think it is dry.

Had an hours long video call with my cousin yesterday, who recently had an operation. Then had to go back in with an infection. All seems ok now, fingers crossed.

Up early so made my chicken and vegetable soup.

Back to normal today. Walking group walk and Line Dancing this afternoon. Forecast is for no rain today!

Stunning photo's WWM

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning from Cheshire where a sunny day is forecast.

We stayed at mum’s overnight to cut down on travelling time and costs. This morning we are visiting a care home and then straight on to North Wales where we are looking after the children overnight.

Thinking of all our absent friends and all struggling with illness and other worries💐Life can certainly be challenging.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Redcar Mon 21-Oct-24 07:16:30

Good morning everyone from a dark and mild Essex. Yesterday was showery and breezy, but nowhere near as bad as in other parts of the UK. I hope everyone survived with no damage.
Lovely photos whitewave and gm . I hope that those who had sleepless nights manage to get some rest today and that the coughs improve soon.
I have my pre operation assessment today, a long appointment, but nothing else planned for the day. I may try to repot some houseplants, but may not!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Grammaretto Mon 21-Oct-24 07:22:40

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It was wild in the storm yesterday and last night but is quiet now.
I'm going on a walk with U3A in West Lothian so had better make a picnic.
Yesterday my garden and kitchen hosted apple juicing and many litres of beautiful juice produced and enjoyed.

Your Spanish holiday sounds very special gMattie

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from a still dark but, I think, dry North Leicestershire.

Our gardener is coming this morning (she wasn't well on Friday) and I have to take a duvet cover to the curtain lady as she is making it into a runner for the bottom of the bed. I also have to tackle Mount Everest .....again.

And, Sainsbury's have 25% off wine so a trip there is called for.

Have the best day possible all.

Mizuna Mon 21-Oct-24 07:28:25

Good morning from a damp though very still Cornwall where a bit of cool air is wafting over my bed. Last evening my son and his 14-year-old turned up with a McDonald's meal and we watched rubbish TV, which was all thoroughly guiltily enjoyable.

I am Mrs Smug 😂 because my enforced staying-in has resulted in some therapeutic sorting including a wonderfully tidy shoe/boot cupboard. Today I'll make something from some lovely charity shop rose-print corduroy I discovered in a drawer. Maybe a waistcoat.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 21-Oct-24 07:29:02

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where it feels mild. I’m still in bed so there might be a raging frost!

Our cleaner is due today. I normally do a Waitrose shop on a Monday, but I had to buy quite a few things on Saturday.

OH has to buy wood to make another woodpecker guard for his bee hives. He isn’t a handyman by any stretch of the imagination but likes to have a go.

I may visit some much older, unwell friends, if they are up to it,

Otherwise, a quietish day with maybe a bit of ironing.

Have a good day especially those of you with illness or difficulties.

glammagran Mon 21-Oct-24 07:36:55

Good morning from Wiltshire.

On Saturday we went to Gloucester to see DGS1 swimming for his club in heats alongside other 13 year olds. He came 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st in his 4 races winning the last by a considerable distance of almost a length. I’m so glad we went as we haven’t been to one of his competitions before. I had an aching and stiff back after hours of sitting in the uncomfortable seats. It was lovely chatting to DS through the day as we don’t see him that often - he is so busy as his boy has early morning training 5 times a week. DGD2 trains with another club so we will see her compete in December - her mum handles her schedule. Afterwards the 4 of us had dinner in a lovely pub in Birdlip in the middle of nowhere.

DGD1 is doing the university rounds at the moment. She went to Cardiff open day on Saturday. Her favourite so far has been Nottingham.

We will pick DGD3 from school today - at least we won’t be doing it in the rain this week. As DGS2 has an extra day at nursery now it isn’t our turn to have him this week. He seems to prefer his new nursery as it’s on a farm and they spend a lot of time outdoors which suits him.

Have good Monday everyone. Hope everyone with colds and other ailments gets better soon.

BlueSapphire Mon 21-Oct-24 07:39:36

Good morning everyone from a dry Northampton, forecast to be sunny later, so a load of washing is in the machine ready to hang out when I get back from yoga.

Did very little yesterday apart from tidying the kitchen, reading the paper and watching tv.

Probably be another quiet day again today - will try and get into my new book club read, 'The Queen's Gambit '.

Have a pleasant Monday everyone.

monk08 Mon 21-Oct-24 07:43:24

Good morning all from the Black country curtains still closed but think its dry and the wind has dropped.
Lovely photos on here once again.
No plans yet again will take the day as it comes.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

luluaugust Mon 21-Oct-24 07:45:02

Good morning from a damp W Kent. The cleaner will be coming this morning after a break so plenty for her to do. This afternoon we are off on a U3A outing to a house Charles Dickens lived in.
Best wishes to all

ginny Mon 21-Oct-24 07:48:05

Good morning everyone.
We had a social weekend. Dinner with friends on Saturday and yesterday lunch with DD2. It was nice to have her to ourselves. She is in the process of buying a new house so, hope that all goes well.
DH is just finding out if his golf is still on.
I have written my ‘To Do’ list it is quite long but I am determined to work my way through it today.
A good day wished for all, special thoughts for those with illness or problems to cope with.
