Thank you everyone for your good wishes regarding my Dgd2. She is a very sunny natured caring little girl who isn’t very self confident at the moment. DD2 is keeping an eye on things.

Good morning from a very wet Costa Blanca, we took MzOops to Alicante in the dark early this morning, heavy rain, twisty roads, blind junctions all unlit, up to the top where a fast road could be found. Thank goodness for the SatNav.

She is on her way to Madrid, then eventually will end up in Aix en Provence for a week then further travels in Northern Europe.

I have to contact Insurers for a claim form to cover our attempted break in back at home, 2 doors damaged, but Nephew is staying until we get home to sort it all out, so at least they cant come back and try again.

So an indoors day today, I brought my paints and there is a Mandela painting book here for inspiration.

Good morning all. It's a 'bright grey' on the Angus coast and expected to be so all day.
I hope your mum recovers from her infection soon, Susan, and can be transferred to the care home you have found for her. How many times do we hear of people acquiring more infection while in hospital? She'll be so much better in her new home.
My heart goes out to your DGD GrannyIvy. One of my DGDs had the same all through school and it is certainly having a lasting effect on her self confidence, even now in her 20s.

Lovely to see Marydoll and her novella back! I wish I had even the tiniest scrap of your tech abilities! Mine can best be described by that awful word 'duh'. Reading your tale I started getting palpitations at the very thought of it all!
After tai chi followed by The Big Shop yesterday I spent the rest of the day falling asleep and missing the end of any programme I tried to watch on TV. Today I must do some housework as DGD3 is coming to visit tomorrow after her uni lectures in Dundee are over for the day. I don't want a bad report going back to DD 😉😂 We're going for a meal to our wonderful Chinese restaurant, which is closing at the end of the year. It is without a doubt the best I have ever known (and I've known many across the years and across the globe) but there is to be no stay of execution as their lease is up and the land is to be built upon. Ah well, such is life.
Anyway off I must go to run in circles with the hoover, gaily waving a duster as I go. Have a good day everyone x

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, but sunny spells are forecast later. Was later getting up this morning, and DCat has been sitting on my lap for an hour making it impossible for me to write this!

Spent some time yesterday booking tickets for the womens' rugby world cup next year; several pool matches are taking place in the Northampton Saints stadium, and I have managed to get tickets for all of them, including England - Samoa. Love watching womens' rugby and have been to a few England matches.

Had a good walk with the group in lovely sunshine after lunch - it's good to have company when walking.

Must clean the en-suite this morning, hoover downstairs then hopefully get upstairs done. May go to the well-being cafe this afternoon.

Not managed to read the thread yet, will pop back later.

Good Morning, another lovely dry bright day here in Co Armagh
Yesterday I did very little , took painkillers , rubbed gel on my hands , did my neck exercises and got my hands working ! They are protesting at all the crocheting
This morning I’m taking in more yarn and hoping club members are doing better than I am and wanting more supplies so we can get this blanket done !
The chairperson is very helpful and kind
Later maybe lunch out , the freezer is full , but of course I don’t fancy any of it !

I hope you are improved today Mick and getting back to normal. All very frustrating for you.

I visited town yesterday and, amongst other errands, deposited books and clothes at a charity shop. I came out with a new book though, one of those page turners you know you won't read again. I would never think it worth paying the full price for them so I let someone else do that and then I buy it later for £1.50! The charity shop will soon get it back to make more money.

Today I'm shortly off to a different garden centre as my usual one seems to have limited stock these days and doesn't have what I'm looking for. There's a lot of stuff at this other one apart from plants and I hope to avoid temptation, I'm trying to get rid of things, not accumulate more.

You're right Greyduster, it is the small things that get on top of you when you live alone. I miss DH for moral support, wise advice and practical help. Both my sons live far away and I couldn't afford the expensive houses down south when I moved out of my previous, rather remote residence. I just grit my teeth, carry on and dwell on more positive thoughts.

Good morning everyone from a dry but (seems) slightly chilly. Alexa tells me it’s 8°C and sunny and will be 14°C later and overcast. British weather eh? No wonder we discuss it so much!

I’m off to spend half of the morning with the Boy Wonder, chicken thighs and coleslaw requested for lunch today (boys of this age have hollow legs don’t they?) so I’ll pop into the larder on my way out. Mum will be home for the afternoon as she does her PPA session so Himself will wander over with their chilli and then we will use the pool car (ours really ha!) to call in on friends. The friend we are visiting has spent all summer - nine weeks - in the Manchester Royal Infirmary and ended up having abdominal surgery. He is the same age as us. Thankfully (after biopsies) it’s not cancer.

I hope you can get that juice on prescription hollysteers. As a consultant said to Himself “it’s all about calories in”. The drinks are to sip in between meals. You should be nicely plump by Christmas!

Good morning my dear friends, popping in to say Hello.
There is so much kindness on this thread especially when I have felt quite overwhelmed and sad about my failing health.
Although I had no energy nor inclination to post, I have loved hearing about the and seeing the photos.

After days of angina pain, things seem more settled this morning. It left me quite anxious. I had been lulled into a false sense of security, by a good spell. I wonder if it is a coincidence, but it all started after my Covid and 'flu vaccinations.

I don't really have any news, as I haven't been able to do much and consequently haven't been anywhere!, apart from an appointment yesterday, where I tried to make an effort with my appearance. Unfortunately, I was oblivious to the fact that I was wearing two odd shoes, until it was too late. 😂 DH was worried, when I declined lunch and/ or a trip to the shops.

I got a new phone last week, but I knew that in my present state, I would make a mess of it, so left it until yesterday. Big mistake!
The WiFi transfer didn't work, therefore I had to search my stash of cables ( a throwback from my IT co-ordinator days, I hoard them, in case of an emergency 😉). After hours of slowly transferring data, I somehow, managed to:

• lock my credit card ( three unsuccessful, automated phone calls to the provider),

• I couldn't install the credit card app on my new phone, because there was a device limit, but couldn't remove the app from my old phone, because the account had been locked.

•My Disabled Persons Railcard hadn't transferred, I needed to log onto my account on another device, to get a special code, Unfortunately that account was set up with the email account, which Virgin Media have still not sorted. 🤬

• My WhatsApp wasn't working, (therefore, no contact with Glesca Grans, who have kept me going) )

•My SIM wasn't working, so I could not make calls, nor receive them.

•My Microsoft password was wrong ( If I change it, it means I cannot access my Safeguarding files, which have layers of security)

None of my important shopping apps worked, without logging in again, but the passwords didn't work.😤

and so on and so on!

In the middle of it dinner the landline rang, it was one of the GPs, who had been trying to call me on my mobile. Now was it my new one or the old one? Well it didn't really matter, for neither was working! She asked if I was free next week, because she wanted to see me.
I think she thought I was mad, when I came back and said that my two phones and both tablets were still talking to each other and I couldn't access my Google calendar.😂
There may now be a note on my record, about a confused and rambling old lady.

As you may have guessed, due to my sheer bl**dy mindedness, I have resolved the majority of problems, but it certainly didn't do my BP any good. My days of working in IT have paid off. What scares me is how easy it is to find backdoor ways of sorting things, using multiple devices. No wonder hackers are so successful.

Today, I plan to add my banking app 😱 and set up DH's new phone, because he cannot be trusted. Hopefully, I have learned from yesterday's fiasco.😉
Apart from that, a day of rest ahead!

Susan, I hope your mum improves soon. What a difficult time for you and your family. 💐

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very foggy South Yorkshire. I have boiler troubles again this morning🙄. I got up to cold radiators and the boiler low pressure light flashing. I’ve repressurised it but will have to call the engineer yet again.
It’s the small things that drag you down when you live on your own I’m finding. I was so tired yesterday evening that I nodded off halfway through writing a letter! It wasn’t even seven o’clock!

Have opened the curtains to check that there are no cows in the garden after yesterday’s little drama. Two helpful neighbours have made a temporary replacement for the damaged fence panel using a pallet and a fencer has pronounced it sufficient until the fence is replaced in a few weeks. Fortunately I spotted the intruders very quickly and they didn’t get into the main part of the garden or the damage would have been considerable.

Going to sign my new will this morning and singing this afternoon and am hoping my blood pressure will have returned to normal after yesterday’s excitement. Can’t cope with so much drama.

Good morning from what was predicted to be a foggy morning but just a very light mist so that’s good.

I’m off to my keep fit class in less than an hour and then going out with a friend from the class for coffee in my local market town where we’ll be joined by another mutual friend who moved to Essex a few months ago.

She lives alone and is missing Suffolk and the places she loved here. It will be good to see her and she intends to spend time wandering around her favourite haunts, sunshine forecast for later which is good for her ramblings.

Good morning from a dry NE.
This morning there is a man coming to look at my TV aerial, I can no longer receive high definition channels and a box keeps popping up saying there is no signal.
I often just watch programmes on my tablet but the main TVs are better for films.
Sister and BIL are taking me shopping this afternoon so that I can stock up. They are off on holiday again tomorrow to see their GC, the four boys are aged 6 to 15 so activities will be interesting.
Still have a very sore arm after vaccinations but that is just a minor inconvenience.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning from N. bucks where the weather is still and dull.

Had an uncomfortable night with shoulder pain and the arthritis in my hands . Still , I’m up and about to get ready to go to a talk and lunch with WI pals.
Later I shall make some lists re. materials needed for craft Club projects and hopefully some painting.

Good morning from a clear-skied Cornwall with sun promised. I'm out today after four days inside, unheard of for me! However, did some baking, also unusual for me. Today I'm on my usual Wednesday rota at my youngest grandchildren's house, bridging the after-school gap. Can't say these vicious tablets are helping my lungs yet but I desperately need a change of scenery! 😄 The bus takes me almost door-to-door so that's useful.

Morning, dry in S Hants after showers yesterday where my nose check up at ENT went well.
Today my hair gets a trim, possibly a library visit then I’m making chicken and leek pasties.
Darn it Susan I hope that clears up soon.
Young girls can be so snide GrannyIvy may the school sort this out quickly.

Today, we are going pumpkin picking at a farm near Hexham with a soft play session afterwards - for DGS2, not me!
Although I’m still coughing, we’ll be outside most of the time, then I’m bringing Little Dog back here with me for a couple of nights.

Children can be so cruel -*GI*, I hope this is nipped in the bud, so to speak. Fingers crossed your Mum is soon well enough to be discharged to her new Home Susan

Such a lovely sunny day yesterday. We managed to tidy garden and fill the garden waste bin. They charge £36 for the year to empty it now, so need to get our monies worth !

MrJ should have gone on a bike ride yesterday, but after his bout of Covid he has been left with a bad back. Same happened to my brother in the summer. Took weeks to right itself.

Today I am meeting DGD2 (16) for lunch in town. It is lovely she is at college here now for 2 years. She has made quite a few new friends.

So sorry to hear about your DGD's so called 'friends'. Basically it is stealing! I hope the school can sort it out.

Mr C’s blood letting went without drama yesterday, no energy for walking though. We have covid jabs this morning and must visit our front door installers as they have ignored phone requests for help with the door which seems to have dropped. Mr C can close it. Me? No chance. Could be awkward.

So sorry about your Mum susan. Friendship groups can be anything but grannyivy, one of ours had similar issues and it really undermined her. Hope the school can sort it quickly, as they should. Welcome home grandmattie, your holiday sounded so interesting. Can’t help thinking you should report your ongoing issues to your team mick, hope today goes well.

Tonight I have a taster session for a choir. I’ve been sent a welcome pack but I’m not sure it’s for me. I’ll see how I feel this evening.

grannyivy that’s really sad for your DGD, hope it can be sorted out soon. My 9 year old granddaughter has been having similar problems but hopefully sorted now.
susan I hope that your mother’s infection can be cleared soon and that she can still be moved to the home you’ve found.
I saw the hygienist yesterday, she’s very gentle and I don’t mind seeing her! I have another appointment in a year’s time. Saw my friend with dementia in the afternoon, she was very quiet and calm.
This morning I am seeing the physiotherapist about my aching knee. Then I have a food delivery. I plan to put more bulbs in pots and possibly cut back a large fuchsia which would take over the whole garden given the chance. The grass is lovely and green and growing fast, but too wet to cut now.
I hope Wednesday is kind to everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, sunny weather later today

I popped my head into the loft yesterday and everything is secure and in place, I was very relieved as there had been problems, which I fixed last year. A yearly pre-winter visual check will do from now on.

I cut out the last of my cosy rib layering tops last night, it did not take me long at all. I have the motivation to get those tops sewn up today as I don`t even have to look at the pattern, I already have some in a drawer, very useful too. I need to get enough mojo to get that last corduroy sleeveless layering dress done and then believe me, I will clean everything in my sewing room and shut the door to close off the room until spring

There are no plans for anything else today, apart from making kefir and I have a free day until someone comes to service my boiler. I would love to sit and knit but won`t until I have finished my sewing UFOs
