Anyone remember him? Lovely soothing voice.

I remember listening to his LP titled “Bread Winners” it was cover versions of the soft rock band Bread - always loved those songs and they take me right back to about 1973/4 aged 12 or 13🫠

I saw him on stage many years ago. Such a velvety voice and such a good-looking man.

My dad loved his music. He used to sing all the songs to us. I loved the song "Wives and Lovers"

But have you listened to the lyrics?
‘ Day after day, there are girls at the office
And men will always be men.
Don’t send him off with your hair still in curlers
You may not see him again’!

But he was so gorgeous, I’ll forgive him!

( And I am reminded of my friend’s mum, mother of six, who took off the apron and put on pearls and lipstick every night before daddy came home )

It's interesting Jack Jones grew up in the rock and roll era, but instead of wanting to be the next Elvis, he chose easy listening instead and covering other musicians songs in this style. Not really a singer I know a massive amount about, but he was popular on the live circuit and on television for decades.

He had a long term relationship with Susan George in the 1970s. There’s a video of them singing together on YouTube- she has a fairly forgettable voice.

He was certainly a very attractive man.

Goodness, just looked at his many LPs I have last week. I went to a few of his concerts met him 4 times (one back stage due to the job my DH had at that time). His eyes, his voice, I just melted. RiP

Jack Jones was part of the soundtrack of my childhood, along with Frank Sinatra and Matt Monro,

I can remember my parents buying a Jack Jones LP in the seventies, where Jones sung covers of songs by soft rockers Bread called Bread Winners. He was quite good at singing covers and was also well known for singing the theme tune to The Love Boat.

I thought this referred to the trade union leader at first, and was thinking I never knew he could sing!

So did I. Jack Jones, CH MBE
Died in 2009 aged 96
After his retirement he campaigned for pensioners' rights.

And me! Jack Jones, general secretary of the TGWU, chairman of the TUC, I knew him at the TUC, he was a lovely man, very kind, very helpful to a very junior member of staff. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Jones_(trade_unionist)

And there now is yet another Jack Jones, a Welsh singer and poet, apparently.

Sorry I missed this, and posted another thread! The Bodach and I saw him many times in Glasgow. He was a very handsome man, and could sing too.

And he was Jack Jones junior - his father was a popular singer, too.

Redhead56 Fri 25-Oct-24 15:00:34
