Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very grey York. Had a lovely dinner out with DS and DiL last night. Having lunch and spending the day with an old friend today. We don’t get the chance to get together very often these days so there will be plenty of ground to cover. I’ll catch up on everyone’s posts later.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everyone!

It's 8.9C. here in little Appleby.

Got up just after midnight gasping for a drink so made up a lovely mug of PG Tips and sat on the edge of the bed having it but I was also DESPERATE for a doughnut! But I didn't have any!

The shops were all shut at that time of night! How dare they be so selfish and inconsiderate during my time of need?! HA!

So I got on my mobile and Googled images of 5 big fat juicy jammy doughnuts and pretended to scoff them all! They were delicious!

Good morning everyone from a cloudy grey Northampton, but supposed to be dry all day.

Book club yesterday where we had not coffee and cake, but Fizz (Cremant) and cake! And very welcome it was, I had.two glasses.... We all enjoyed the month's book, discussed next month's read, and then looked at a possible list of books for next year. Then sat and put the world to rights for the rest of the afternoon.

Sainsbury's delivery later this morning, and then after lunch a visit from the gas engineer to service the boiler. He will also check over and clean the gas fire.
Fish and home-made chunky oven chips for dinner.

Safe journeys to those travelling today, may all your journeys end in sunshine like FGT2's!

loopyloo Thu 31-Oct-24 08:44:31

Oh a George Michael tribute sounds great.
Morning everyone.
DH has a day off and DS and DDiL coming over for lunch at carvery.
A tiny gold coin was appreciated by my GS on his 18th birthday.
Have a good day.

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset

Enjoyed coffee with friends yesterday morning before cleaning the glass doors on the oven and rewarding ourselves with a trip to a very busy garden centre before a long telephone chat with o one of our Welsh friends. She’s getting quite frail, we worry about her well-being.

Today the oven-fixer is due at any time before 11.56am. How precise is that? Laundry is in the machine, Mr C has promised to iron bedding washed yesterday while I faff about. May make it out for a top up shop later.

Safe travels to all on the move. Have the best day you can everyone.

What a gorgeous view, taichi.
Hope you remember protocols, MD. 🤞
Bon voyage, FGT2, and others in transit..🛫

EkwaNimitee Thu 31-Oct-24 08:38:36

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, gloomy and damp Carlisle.
A staying in day unless things improve radically. I've a pile of ironing to do for one thing. Then I shall feel like a bit of online retail therapy....

Yesterday I was in town for my overdue haircut, now I look so much smarter. Long, straggly air does not suit older females generally unless you are cultivating the eccentric look I think.

Town was quiet, it often seems to be on a Wednesday. The shops seem to be making more of Christmas than Halloween. I am ignoring both! My hairdresser was not happy about the expense of goodies for Halloween, maybe that's why displays are a bit muted round about here, folk need to be watching their pennies.
Speaking of which, I am gradually getting rid of mine in the self-service tills with the aim of having none left by the end of the year and a copper- less future. Weighs my purse down and is useless.

Happy travels, travellers and have a good day everyone.

Taichinan Thu 31-Oct-24 08:23:01

The phantom post muncher strikes again. I shall try again very quickly! Attached is the photo I took yesterday from my upstairs bedroom window. I went up to clean the windows but only got one done - spent a relaxing time just sitting on my bed looking at the view!
I hope everyone has a good day today x

Marydoll Thu 31-Oct-24 08:15:57

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
Little sleep was had last night, caused by high pain levels and I was thinking about my friend.
His wife is very ill and the doctors have told him her transplant looks as if it is failing. It has impacted on her other organs. I was so sad for him yesterday.

I have a doctor's appointment today, when I will be interviewed by a group of medical students. Apparently, I was such a hit the previous time, I have been invited back. 😁 Note to self: Let them get a word in edgeways and don't ramble on!
I could be doing with an actual GP appointment, for some strange reason, an RA flare up has come completely out of the blue. 😔

Afterwards, DH is coming to meet me and we are going to our favourite chippy for a fish tea.
He travelling by the bus, I wonder if he will manage to find the bus stop or me! 🤭
Then of course, he will be incommunicado, he has a history of not answering his phone even although he has a new one. 😂

Tonight, I am the duty sacristan for the Vigil All Saints Mass. The Bishop is con-celebrating, so I will need to remember the protocol I am becoming a tad forgetful.😉.
It is going to be a busy day and I advised DH, that I won't be cooking dinner, hence the fish suppers.

Baubles, enjoy your visit and time with your family, albeit in sad circumstances. My family also have the tradition of the deceased reposing and the Rosary being said.

Grammaretto, I hope your appointment went well yesterday.

GM, good to see you back.

Safe travels to all, including FGT and her DH.

Have a good day folks.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
To lunchtime concert yesterday, not right after my op, but making an effort. Chap next to me in the recital had ants in his pants. Non stop movement and fiddling🙄 Good recital though.
Bought a few more soft food items I can manage, then a quiet evening watching tv and reading new book. DD out with childhood friend.

I have a little stack of goodies for tonight, we’ll see who turns up.
Bon voyage to our travellers and thoughts to all🌺

GrannyGravy13 Thu 31-Oct-24 08:03:39

Morning Mick and all

I am looking forward to a lazy day, no GC (I have been on Granny duty since last Thursday evening 🤣💙) lots of Halloween themed fun.

I have also managed some finger shopping and the Christmas gifts are slowly accumulating 🎄🤶🏻

Safe journeys for our travelling good morning friends.

Good morning from crisp and clear Somerset.
Lovely day yesterday walking in the grounds of a nearby NT house then a superb lunch at the Lord Poulett if anybody knows it.
Played Risk all evening and OMIG these gc play to WIN! Unlike Granny whose military strategic skills come somewhere behind Liechtenstein!.
Lyme Regis today - I hope with fish and chips, then back to decorate the house for a Halloween tea.
Wishing you all a pleasant day and may you all enjoy more treats than tricks. 🥳👻 🎃

Jaxjacky Thu 31-Oct-24 07:57:02

Morning from a grey again S Hants, happy travelling to oops baubles and FGT.
Yesterday dental checkup, phew, all done and I joined the village WI.
Today lunch out with a friend and I’ll try to sort out the sat nav in my car, if not it’ll be a dealer visit - it’s irritating me not working.
Happy Halloween!

Good morning all and it’s rather gret here in Essex.

We’re heading up to our Suffolk bolt hole soon and will stay just a few days. My book club is this evening and it will be good to catchup with the others who I haven’t seen for a couple of months. I’m sure sure if we’ll be there before Christmas as we (I) have lots going on back here in Essex.

Safe journeys to all travellers.

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Off to art group this morning and an afternoon baking as DB is coming for a couple of nights. Good catch up with DF yesterday, she is permanently busy with all her AC and GC living nearby.
Safe travels FGT.
Enjoy your day out gM
Best wishes

NannyJan53 Thu 31-Oct-24 07:44:01

Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country.

A day yesterday of Admin, and sorting some more clothes for Charity Shop.

Walking group walk this morning. Then off to Birmingham this afternoon to check into Hotel, ready for seeing a George Michael tribute tonight. Have to travel on the bus as there is no trains between here and there till Friday.

After breakfast in the Hotel tomorrow, arrive home, then off out to meet the family for lunch at 1pm. DD, DS and 3 of the DGD's. One will be working. So no evening meal cooking tomorrow either.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

brook2704 Thu 31-Oct-24 07:36:50

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the sky looks a gorgeous shade of pink and a dry day is forecast
Baubles 💐
Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better this morning Georgesgran
I’m off to DD2s this morning, there’s another house viewing this afternoon so a quick tidy up is needed. I’m not holding out much hope again, the estate agent seems to give her false hope with the assurance of offers but nothing actually materialising.
Safe travels Oops, Sar53, fgt and everyone on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 31-Oct-24 07:34:05

Oops ha! 🤣

Redcar Thu 31-Oct-24 07:28:38

Good morning from Essex. It’s grey again, seemed mild out when I got the milk in, but the heating has been on and the radiators are hot, so obviously not very mild!
Went for a short walk yesterday, then made some phone calls re insurance. Called in to both DDs, taking Halloween treats for the granddaughters who will be out trick or treating this evening. Did a load of washing, so have a pile of ironing to do today.
sar I hope your journey to Leamington goes smoothly and you have good time with your DD1 and family.
Safe travels to all on the move today and thoughts to all who have worries and anxieties of any kind.
Have the best day possible everyone.
