Ch4 Dispatches tonight about Royals making money

Just saw there's a programme on tonight at 8.10pm on Channel 4 - Dispatches - apparently showing the huge amounts of money King Charles and Prince William are making from public services. Methinks they should be paying inheritance tax along with everyone else!

It sounds interesting though - if it's what they say it is.

MissA the thing that has surprised / angered me is that they are taking £millions in rent from the struggling public sector and charitiesangry

The king could put a halt to this immediately!

MissAdventure Mon 04-Nov-24 10:52:04

I think he has only done that in response to the public response to Andrew's behaviour.

They do onlyvas much as is necessary, and only when it becomes necessary.

Does the slimming down of the RF mean less cost to the taxpayer or a bigger share of duchy dosh for those who remain?

Well, Charles has cut Andrew off financially and is trying to evict him from Royal Lodge.

Not before time.

I'm also surprised that people are surprised.

They are used to their lifestyle, which hasn't been questioned until recently, so of course, they have ensured that they can sustain themselves.

They are so far removed from regular families, that they have no consideration - they are outside of their sphere. (In my opinion)

Farzanah Mon 04-Nov-24 10:37:36

The surprise for me is that everyone is surprised.
I suppose it’s because the Royal Family have always been so super secretive. It’s quite indefensible.

MissAdventure Mon 04-Nov-24 10:35:05

I've noticed you use too many recently, recently. grin

Whitewavemark2 Mon 04-Nov-24 10:32:11

Too many “recently’s” 😊

Whitewavemark2 Mon 04-Nov-24 10:31:24

I’ve ignored this until recently, and have only looked at this recently.

No one can possibly deny that the hypocrisy is absolutely breathtaking.

I doubt that things will change very quickly though, but I do think that looking into the future they are on a sticky wicket.

Income tax is paid on the income from the Duchy of Cornwall estate.

But they’re exempt from business taxes?

Anniebach, even the Daily Mail owned by Viscount
Rothermere another very rich man, must accept facts. The people can't be fooled forever.

Some people will simply never accept the facts about the RF, no matter how you spell them out.

Allira Mon 04-Nov-24 10:27:23

Never let facts get in the way of sensational journalism, whether that be the Daily Mail or Dispatches.

Anniebach Mon 04-Nov-24 10:27:11

So every newspaper gives facts only ?

^And the investigation has thrown up some intriguing details. One 15-year deal will see the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust in London pay £11.4 million to store its fleet of electric ambulance in a warehouse owned by the Duchy of Lancaster.^

This was taken from the DM article.

So, if I’ve got this right… The taxpayer funds the NHS and the NHS is paying millions to the RF (who are funded by the tax payer) via the duchies but Charles and William don’t have to pay tax on duchy income. 🤔

Are we being shafted?

The Daily Mail is now the sword of truth .
I don’t know if it is the truth

All the fact quoted can be easily checked, anniebach.

Caleo Mon 04-Nov-24 10:17:42

Merlot, we always knew we were shafted by various sorts of fraudsters but we had believed the King was on the same side as his subjects. Now we know that with a stroke of his pen he could stop his business interests' shafting our NHS'

I must say however that many if not most members of the rich elite don't know themselves for what they are. They were all elitely and and exclusively schooled and attend elite and exclusive hospitals.

Well when they've gone, not very likely, and all their homes have been made into illegal immigrant shelters, all our history destroyed, all their lands built on with little boxes homes, even less food production, all their money spent on the feckless idle, what then. What will you all whine about then eh.
Channel four, trying to deflect from this disastrous government and its disastrous budget . Enjoy your penny off a pint.

Didn’t this documentary show who the “the feckless idle” really are, when some in this country are working 3 jobs to try and survive, and thousands are depending on food banks?

Those struggling in our society don’t make money simply by being alive.

Freya TBH the C4 documentary didn’t mention getting rid of the monarchy at all.

It exposed the huge amount of money they are taking in rent from struggling public sector organisations and from charities that they, themselves, are patrons of.

It exposed their hypocrisy with regard to environmental issues.

It gave us a glimpse of where their hearts really lie!

MissInterpreted Mon 04-Nov-24 09:58:49

And, given that the legal eagles will have been over that programme with a fine tooth comb before allowing it to air, you have to wonder how much was cut beforehand? What don't they want us to know?

BlueBelle Mon 04-Nov-24 09:51:35

Parasites I had no idea they were draining the NHS and other public sectors that are struggling so much
One bloody castle could make a dozen hospitals and nurses
So cross with them

merlotgran Mon 04-Nov-24 09:40:31

Sorry. It’s behind a paywall.
