Ch4 Dispatches tonight about Royals making money

Just saw there's a programme on tonight at 8.10pm on Channel 4 - Dispatches - apparently showing the huge amounts of money King Charles and Prince William are making from public services. Methinks they should be paying inheritance tax along with everyone else!

It sounds interesting though - if it's what they say it is.

I'm presuming either Charles, William or both have been informed of the content of the Dispatches programme and are at this time, instructing those who run the Duchies for them to investigate and provide full reports.

I would expect nothing less from two men who seem to have a social conscience.

We shall see.

MissAdventure Tue 05-Nov-24 18:25:22

I've seen nothing to indicate they have a social conscience.

Anniebach Tue 05-Nov-24 19:06:22

MissAdventure what do you expect to see which would show
social conscience ?

Jaberwok Tue 05-Nov-24 19:06:54

You've clearly been asleep or perhaps not interested.

The cutting down of their expenditure for a start.
Spending time with people who are less fortunate, instead of flying in, smiling and flying off again.

Getting truly involved with the causes their names are put to.
Spending a day in a food bank, or a hospital, or a refuge, or a day centre.

Setting up something like the invictus games...

MissAdventure Tue 05-Nov-24 19:13:42

Perhaps they could spend a day visiting people living in the sub standard homes they are landlords to?
Being shown around and seeing the problems people are living with.

If people only want to see the negatives that is up to them but, as I said earlier, it's best not to have a closed mind.

Setting up something like the invictus games ...

Like these, you mean?

The Prince’s Countryside Fund
The Prince’s Drawing School
Dumfries House
Patron and President
Organic Farming
Sustainable Gardening
The Prince’s Countryside Fund

And, of course The Prince’s Trust

The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales
The Earthshot Prize
The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood

You mean like that kind of thing?
🤔

Allira Tue 05-Nov-24 19:31:52

Oh, and, of course The Royal Foundation was set up with Harry and Meghan too, but they didn't last the course.

Agreed.

All those listed plus others, and real work, not just swanning around smiling. Perhaps actually throw their vast fortunes against good works.

I do.
I wonder how involved they are with them they are?
Genuinely, because I don't know.

Allira Tue 05-Nov-24 23:25:53

Well, I know William regularly visits a homeless charity and pitches in to help.
He and his wife, before her illness, both were very involved in the Royal Foundation they set up and he with his Earthshot Prize. They gave a generous donation to a food bank after it was ransacked.

We do not hear about all the private charitable donations he and Charles make - because they are private as are anyone's.

Redistribution of their ill gotten gains

Anniebach Wed 06-Nov-24 05:11:40

Things they obtain in a dishonest or illegal way ? Do tell, when were they arrested ?

OldFrill Wed 06-Nov-24 07:18:36

Ill gotten - illicit or *unfair"
Highly unlikely they will be prosecuted, they've pretty much got that covered as Andrew demonstrated.

Anniebach Wed 06-Nov-24 07:34:19

Many who had much respect for the late Queen would not agree with you

BlueBelle Wed 06-Nov-24 07:52:57

It’s not Charles he’s just carrying on as they were
all the lovers of the late queen she was just as much to blame as all before her
I didn’t realise charities like the lifeboat were paying them good grief they really do need to disappear
Does william pitch in to help at the homeless centre with his ‘hard earned’ dosh

Anniebach Wed 06-Nov-24 08:30:50

You truly believe the late Queen and now Charles knew they
were taking money from charities ?

MissInterpreted Wed 06-Nov-24 08:33:19

Yes. How could they not?

Granniesunite Wed 06-Nov-24 08:37:11

Legally they might be in the right as they see it, to collect rent from charities, the MOD, empty prison building, the list was shocking.. but mortally? That’s an entirely different question and one that really should be asked and answered.

Absolutely no excuse for charging the MOD rent on the land they use to train the men and women who are responsible for the protection this king and country. That really shocked me.

Anniebach Wed 06-Nov-24 08:39:12

Quite easily if they are not involved with day to day running)ng of the Duchy , I doubt it you don’t

MissInterpreted Wed 06-Nov-24 08:39:44

Then they should be!

Granniesunite Wed 06-Nov-24 08:48:16

I have no doubts that they know excactly what is happening with regard to their assets.

The King recently thanked his tenants in a “jocular” manner for paying their rent… captured on film…These homes that are not fit for purpose. Awful just awful.

Anniebach Wed 06-Nov-24 08:51:21

You believe the King knew some tenants were living in houses
not fit for purpose and made and mocked them ?
