Ginny I have worn varifocals for years. I did have a problem with one pair. Went back to opticians several times. Finally a senior optician was called who spotted the problem straightaway. The glasses needed to be tilted towards my face. They were then perfect

I love my varifocals. I needed a reading and distance pair, when I was teaching. I was forever losing them. (One pair was usually on the top of my head.)
I was reluctant to try them, but within an hour, I was wearing them all the time.

Harrigran I once worked with the DiL of a previous owner of Whitworth Hall and we had a tour. Lovely place.
I’ve had a struggle with my printer and reached screaming point so DsonoutL has collected it to try and sort it out. Once upon a time I could have sorted it myself. I feel very old and useless.
Have a good day everyone.

It never goes away, does it Maw? Thinking of you and hoping the good memories triumph over the bad.

Awaiting imminent arrival of the new rear fence. No cows in the field at present but who knows whether they will turn up once the old fence is down? So a domestic day today keeping the workers happy, and then out this evening to a flower arranging demo where I will be amazed at the skill of other people, being of the clutch and drop school myself. At least it’s dry though there is no sun in the forecast till Thursday.

“Clutch and drop”😆
I call myself a plonker when it comes to flowers.

Ginny I had a similar problem and eventually went to another optician, they retested my eyes, the original prescription was wrong. It might be worth a second opinion, good luck.

Georgesgran, DD and SIL were at the zoo in Brussels which has a hotel with rooms looking into various enclosures.
I do know about Whitworth Hall, I live next door to a previous owner.

NanaBabs1 Mon 04-Nov-24 09:18:47

Ginny, I gave up on them in the end. They never seemed to be quite in the right position on my face and I was constantly adjusting them. Stairs were worrying. I persevered for quite a long time but eventually saw a different optician, in a well known chain, who said I shouldn’t really have been offered them as I suffer from vertigo!

Good morning - as Ginny says, N Bucks is grey.
Slightly tricky week of memories coming up- it’s exactly 7 years since what I think of as my last “normal” morning with Paw .
We had had a quiet and companionable Sunday and the electrician was due at 9 to replace the bathroom and en suite lights, so when DH woke up I went down to boil the kettle.. A crash from upstairs meant a heavy fall (he wasn’t meant to get up on his own) and it all went from bad to worse. Even our young and hefty 6’ something electrician couldn’t get him up, the ambulance took nearly 3 hours and he then had a lengthy and painful wait in A&E.
Admitted to hospital, moved to a side ward because he also had C.Diff and three awful days followed before a massive internal haemorrhage and the rest. He died just after midnight on the Friday.
Sorry to go on so I won’t any more but every moment brings flashbacks of “this time back then” and I’ll be glad to get this week behind me.
Wishing you all peace, respite from ills and worries and a pleasant week.

Has your family been to Whitworth Hall near Spennymoor Harrigran?
It’s the home of Bobby Shafto, and the deer there are quite tame.

ginny Mon 04-Nov-24 09:03:43

Good morning from a dull N.Bucks after a quiet weekend. Lots of pottering and a short visit from DD2.
Today I must ring the opticians again. This will be the third return visit with my new varifocals. I’m just not happy with them. Anyone else has similar problems?
Some baking and an art class this morning.
Happy Birthday Greyduster.
Thoughts are with all those who are poorly or feeling sad and wishing all a smile along the way.

Good morning from a grey but dry NE.
Yesterday was a very lazy day, watched a whole TV series back to back while doing crosswords.
DD sent photos of their stay at the zoo, as part of the package you get to walk around after it is closed to the public. The deer are allowed to wander round after dark and didn't run away from the camera.
Happy Birthday Greyduster.

Good morning all from an overcast Severnside. I’ve not read your posts yet and will while drinking my second cuppa.

Belated Wedding Anniversary greetings to Jax and her husband.

I slept in this morning as I was very tired after my weekend. On Saturday I went to a Lantern Festival and yesterday a garden centre. I bought a few things and got a ready meal for when I got home. I checked to see if I could microwave it and I could only to find the microwave was playing up. I’ll have another look at it today but I fear it’s on the recycling road.

Have a good day all 🍂🍂

Good morning from a grey Cambridgeshire. Yesterday was a quiet day, a trip to buy compost and also to Waitrose then a lazy afternoon and roast pork!
Today I am meeting two friends at the local garden centre for a catch up been a few weeks since we last saw each other. Then it will be school pickup and one to dance class and littlest to gym.
Look forward to hearing news from the allotment ladies. I think I may look into getting one.
Happy Birthday to GD 🎉
💐 Bellasnana and others struggling too
Have a good day everyone

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, gloomy Carlisle. Typical November, that's why it's my most disliked month.

I shall break the back of the heavier housework and do the bed-changing and laundry this morning and then read this afternoon. I shall pace myself, the bug I caught on the train a fortnight or so ago keeps trying a comeback.

I was out in the garden yesterday, pruning and planting.
A robin and a blackbird have made their seasonal appearances, the former to take a breakfast time bathe in the bird bath, the latter making inroads on my crabapples and rugosa rose hips.
The crabapple tree was an error by the nursery, they sent the wrong variety for making crabapple jelly but I kept it anyway. The blossoms are beautiful and the fruit feeds the blackbird.

Happy birthday to you Greyduster, have a lovely day.

And have the best possible day everyone.

Jaxjacky Mon 04-Nov-24 08:21:18

Morning, grey is the default weather.
We had a lovely day yesterday, watched our grandson play football, briefly for me, it was cold and drizzly. A lamb shank roast for a late lunch, then a visit to our local for an espresso martini, my yearly treat.
Have a great birthday Greyduster 🥳🎂
A sad day for you Bellas 🌹
Must have been like a feast Hollysteers, good to hear you’re improving.
I’ve picked up a filthy cold so today will be quiet.
