Can anyone here interpret dreams, please?

I have vivid and strange dreams every single night and remember them. Quite often they’re to do with where I’m living and having a huge chaotic house full of people who I don’t know and wondering what they’re doing there.
I just put it down to how important my home is to me and that it’s my sanctuary.

I am gladother people have the extra rooms dream. I often have it.
Another frequent dream is running away from something and knowing that I can fly...and taking off just in the nick of time. Finally trying to get ready for an event and everything I look for is missing. Shoes. Keys makeup handbag etc i find one thing and then thr next one is missing.
The last 2 dreams must reflect the anxiety I am going through. But the rooms dream I have had occasionally for years. No idea why. And they tend to be unfinished rooms. Unplastered walls and rafters on view. Not able to be lived in.

I’ve had the extra rooms dream. One was id found lots of extra bathrooms all in a row on the top floor, all really horrible and dirty although how I knew they were dirty I don’t know because i was scared to go in.
The other one. I was visiting a friend of many years when I discovered she had a whole new part to her house that I’d never seen. I felt very bewildered and couldn’t understand it. Very unsettling.
It’s been a while now since having those dreams so maybe whatever was bothering me has passed.

Katyj, I had dreams about horrible bathrooms and they were all because I needed to go to the bathroom and was trying not to wet the bed. Fortunately I always awoke in time.

I once had a very odd dream about John Lennon. We were having some sort of relationship (he'd be old enough to be my father and I've never fancied him anyway) that had to be kept secret. There was no passion in the dream - it was all about the secrecy and keeping the relationship out of the media - which was a blessing.

Very strange.

Funnily enough, the other night I dreamt I was in a house, which I think was ours, with DD, and it was quite a rambling house with rooms off other rooms, nothing like our present house.
I'd like to downsize, not upsize but have given up; we do need to renovate the kitchen and decorate downstairs so I think the thought of it is worrying me.
DD is also flat hunting and I think that is on my mind too.

My usual dreams are about desperately looking for a toilet but when I find it, it is on a public footpath and has no door.

I mentioned that one earlier*Allira*. It’s weird isn’t it? Must mean we don’t like intrusion on our privacy.

I’ve had similar recurring dreams too and think that they may relate to me having untapped potential in some aspect of life. I like that idea because life is a journey.

I think we interpret or give meaning to our own dreams - and it can be interesting.

The stairs represent your ascendancy to heaven you can’t quite reach the top and are puzzled by the two extra rooms. Each room represents £1000 which are the amounts you must give to assure your eventual journey to heaven. D M me with. I would not allow anyone else to interpret my dreams! Not a good idea and usually wrong.
I did have a very good book about interpreting a personal dream but sorry I don't have it any more.But I did find some odd things that repeated.

Yes, the house dream, possibly more common in women; I'm not being definite here.
The emotion in the dream is the most important thing - and if you understand the dream, any bad-feeling emotion fades. Happy ones too, unfortunately!

Flooding water can be about overwhelming emotion.

I hide things and especially people from myself. Like 'a young woman', I realise later, is about my father!

And how about this one for a pun!
We had had a very large and hairy student move in next door, and I was a bit wary of him...until I dreamed about him with no arms. He was actually 'armless'!

Also, writing your dream down, at the same time, can be a great help.

Most of the dreams I have involve me getting lost and unable to find my way home or to wherever I'm going. I have an almost non existent sense of direction and get lost wherever I go so it's always been a big worry for me.

I think the key to interpreting the dream is to work out what the components mean to you personally and to consider what emotions were evoked.

For me, and quite commonly, a house means security. For others it might be tied to status, belonging, confinement, loneliness etc. What does a house mean to you.

As others have suggested, finding new rooms suggests that you are aware of parts of yourself or your life that you haven't fully explored. The feeling of getting lost in them suggests you might not like the loss of control that these explorations might involve. Again, if you can recall the emotions evoked that might help.
I'd suggest doing some free-writing, where you write down the dream but let your mind wander to what associations it will, jotting everything down no matter how weird. Hopefully you'll journey to some kind of insight this way. Or you may trigger more dreams which will add to the picture.

I have quite similar dreams and for me they usually signify emotional growth that makes me feel insecure but which is important to me.

General dream interpretation is a myth. When we dream, our mind is wandering around without thoughts from our fully conscious mind getting in the way. Sometimes our dreams mean nothing at all. Sometimes we’re ’working’ on something from our day-to-day life.

I have vivid dreams, some of which I can relate to as they are about things that I have done during the day, or want to do tomorrow.
I do also have a recurring dream about a house. It has a long,curved kitchen with all white units, and when I follow it round there is a shower room at the end
Another dream is about a different house, with a narrow single bedroom, and down three steps is another shower room.
Maybe I'm just Dirty Gertie from Number Thirty!!

In Freudian dream theory there's usual 3 explanations, if I remember rightly.
1. Wish fulfilment, or dream come true.
2. A re-worked factual memory.
3. A wish or longing or deep desire.

So do you have more rooms, a meaningful childhood room or office maybe ?
Did you have more rooms in a previous house an have down sized ?
Do you desire more rooms, children perhaps or guests coming ?

That’s been one of my nightmares-and my sense of direction is OK. Usually I’m lost in the rainforest -could be Borneo or the Amazon. I’m always sweating and fighting my way through forests.
No idea what that links to though.

I took have had the extra room dream, but it was when I was a small child. I think I must have had it a few times and I loved it. The extra rooms were in an attic I hadn't known was there. I remember there was a very low doorway (child-sized) and a large chintz-covered comfy armchair. I felt very happy and safe there. Now as I type this I realise I must have been having this dream about the time my parents were planning what is now known as a loft extension (but this was just after the war) to allow my much older sister and I to have separate rooms. My unconscious was probably making sense of overheard adult conversations. I hadn't thought about this for a long, long time - until I read this thread this evening - and I haven't had the dream since that time. Fascinating though that it is a recurring dream that so many have in some form or another ......

I don’t think dreams are of any significance unless they’re very obvious. I used to sleep walk and would wake up feeling around the walls, looking for a way out.
When I escaped from my unhappy marriage it never happened again.

I watched a documentary a few years ago about dreams. I think it was Bill Oddie who was used as a subject and various tests were done. The upshot was that dreams usually mean nothing. But if someone leaves a tap running you might dream about water.

I am permanently sorting rooms out😂. I’ve been on a mission to future-proof the whole house, and have redecorated everywhere, replaced the kitchen and bathroom, and haven’t finished yet.

The new rooms didn’t represent anything ’sorted’ though. They were shabby and in need of TLC.

I’m going to sleep now- I’d like to go back tonight, but I doubt that will happen. I’ll report back if it does though.

"and haven't finished yet" - I think it was a sort of anxiety dream about unfinished rooms :-)

I had a time of dreaming about French and Saunders a few times ha ha - and in the dream they were my best friends LOL! It was as if I knew them. Obviously they were on TV a lot at that time and I did like the way they showed women could be funny and also didn't have to be stick insects or have perfect figures.

Anxiety dreams are often linked to low blood sugar. The body produces adrenaline which creates the feelings of anxiety.
