Good morning everyone!
It's 8.9C. here in little Appleby.
I went back to the Co-Op last night and got a bargain! A pack of 4, 330ml cans of Jack & Coke in the orange discount section. They were £9.00 something but I got them for £4.00 something!
I'm a happy bunny!

Good Morning Tuesday 5th November 2024
(46 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley , looks like another day of grey cloud without any sunshine.
My usual bus trip to Bicester ,and today it will be on the original route ,as they did away with a roundabout , and have altered the road so its traffic light controlled.
Health front I am Ok at the moment.
Take Care,
Mick
Another grey day today, what Bill Bryson described as like living in Tupperware as the cloud is so low it’s like having a lid on. No sun forecast till Thursday.
A quiet day planned after yesterday with two chaps removing the rotten fence and replacing it. Looks really good and should prove cow proof - they haven’t yet noticed it but doubtless will, nosy animals that they are. A good if expensive job done. Good thing I haven’t got a cruise planned, though I hope all the travellers to sunnier climes have a great time.
Ps , go for it Marydoll !
Good morning from Co Armagh, no rain is as good as it gets , we had unremitting drizzle yesterday
We had booked a great man to make a raised bed , he worked on and got it made , went for topsoil and filled it so all ready to plant up next weekend
Off to a committee meeting shortly , I just remembered it in the middle of the night , I’ve no minutes written up ! Maybe I’ll get the sack ,
Wishing all the best day 💐
Good morning from a damp, dull Durham. Yesterday’s catchup with old colleagues was good, but a little trying as both now seem to have health anxiety - I don’t, things are what they are. .
Bon voyage Pant
🤞Corner for the dentist, mine is retiring and I’ve a new one for April, which is a worry.
This morning, I’m meeting a friend at a local garden centre, then I’ve my regular chiropody appointment this afternoon. A few bills to pay when I get home, by which time it’ll be dark.
Go on MaryD you know you want to! 🤪
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all,
It’s getting monotonous now, but we have yet another grey day without any hope of sunshine. I needed to put the light on at 3.30 yesterday in order to see the print on my book properly.
Those of you off to sunnier climes, have a lovely time and would you be so kind as to package up a bit of the sunshine to send over to Blighty please 😂.
No big plans for today other than a stint in the garden to do a spot of tidying.
Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Quiet day again yesterday for this convalescent. FaceTime with flying DD in the south, about to go to bed for an early morning 2 a.m. flight, ugh. Wrote a letter to my housebound BIL, scratching my head for news, but I do enjoy letter writing, prefer it to the phone.
My pianist friend has just moved into a larger house and is exhausted, his back troubling him. I can’t help that’s for sure…
Off to music club this afternoon, but no singing or helping.
Looking forward to it as fed up with my own company.
Have a good trip Pantglas, thoughts to the Allotmenters and all🌺
Good morning from Shropshire.Another dull dry day forecast.
We looked at a second nursing home yesterday as back up.It was horrendous. It had good reviews but as soon as the door opened we were horrified.I feel so sad for the residents. We hope and pray mum gets into our first choice🙏🏻
We have a couple of days at home now.Today we have to do Christmas shopping for DH’s side of the family as we will be going down to West Wales for a funeral next week.
GrannyIvy we have had a similar situation with DGD.M has been with this child from nursery and she has ruled the friendship group for years.DD and I despaired but this term M who will be 9 later this month said to DD mum you are right L isn’t very nice I don’t want to be her best friend anymore. They are friends but M no longer bothered about being best friends and is much happier.I hope things work out for your DGD.
Wishing Pantglas an amazing time on her Caribbean cruise.
Hope the dental visits aren’t too costly and traumatic.Dentist appointments fill me with dread so I totally understand how you are feeling.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning from dull South Lanarkshire.
Bon voyage Pantglas, have a wonderful trip.
Mdoll, if a new machine would bring you pleasure, why not treat yourself?
I’m feeling more rested now after having a quiet day yesterday. No idea what today will bring though but again, dog walking and crochet will feature.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning Mick and everyone from gloomy Carlisle. Shouldn't complain I suppose, at least it's not raining or blowing a gale.
Lots done on the housework and laundry front yesterday, just floors to wash and bathrooms to clean today. As for dusting....it's only very occasional! Sounds like it's GN-ers least favourite chore too. I waft one of those anti-static mops around now and again, the TV screen and its glass table are the worst for visible dust. I try not to cast my eyes downward to the skirting boards....
Later this morning, it's into town for my flu jab which usually has no after-effects. Unlike the last two Covid ones which were Moderna and laid me up for two days or so. Maybe next week for that.
After that, a browse through M&S's food hall and shall not come out empty handed. Reading this afternoon.
Commiserations Jaxjacky...colds are hateful things!
And do have a pleasant day, everyone.
Oops, posted that without trying!
The drive over there was horrendous - into a low, bright winter sun all the way from where my road meets the main road, down to Dundee, through the city and then along the river to just before Perth. I have never in my life been so glad to see a bank of cloud and rain!
Anyway, all's well that ends well, and I got there.
Tai Chi this morning then an easy day after that.
Have a good day yourselves - and try to avoid driving into that winter ☀️
Good morning all and we’re back in Essex after good journey home, Albeit shaken and stirred on the wretched A12.
I’ve woken with a sore stiff neck, due to a new ‘special’ pillow, bought for my ears, which are painful when I lie on them.
(Pillow ear) - had it for years. This is the second pillow with a hole I’ve bought, neither of them any good.😢.
This morning I’ll pop to the local shops for veg and fruit, make a lasagne and get ready for Bridge club this afternoon.
Plans for tomorrow have changed. 7 of us old school girls were due to meet up but one has a funeral, one is having chemo and another can’t make it so it’s been postponed.
Me and my 2 usual ‘old’
‘pals will go to Stratford and we’ve booked in to a virtual reality tour of Egypt.😳.
I love hearing the allotment news. Let us know how things develop Karma and Mizuna. 👩🌾👩🌾.
Happy holiday Pants
Take care all 🌻🍁
Good morning all, happy travels Pantglas and gardening Karma oh, and please get that new sewing machine Marydoll.
I have been away to help DGD3 celebrate her 19th birthday. Of course up on my phone came photo memories of her 1st birthday. The differences between now and then were quite noticeable (😉) but the Colin the Caterpillar cake was the same!
Good morning from a dull, but mild Black Country.
Busy day yesterday. Finishing cleaning caravan ready for Winter storage. Left the site at 11am and popped into Ikea in Bristol for an hour. It's been years since I went into an Ikea, and found it quite tiring as you have to walk around the whole store.
Then onto MrJ's DD's as they were both working from home and timed it to arrive in their lunch break. £2 to park for an hour in their street, as these houses have no Drives.
Always surprised how busy the M5 is anytime of a week day, but no holdups and were home by 3.30pm.
Bit of a pottering day today.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Good morning from another grey morning in Cambridgeshire.
Yesterday was a busy day with a good meet up with some friends at the garden centre first and then the school pick up. Gym went well for my little monkey and he had his listening ears on and getting strong on the bar work. We had a what I call a mini roast for dinner which is the cold meat from Sundays roast with roast potatoes veg and gravy.
Today I have a dental check up and hoping nothing is required one because I’m not very brave and two the cost now….. Do hope Cornergran your dental work goes well.
DD2 just done her morning phone call and DGD2 is still having a bit of bother from a certain little girl at school, this child is not nice but it is parents evening next week and my DD2 will try to discuss once again. I do worry about my DGD she has been with this certain person since they were 9 month olds in nursery and she is totallly unable to stand up to her.
Hope everyone has a good day
Good morning from a dry and dull day like yesterday. I hope it is as mild.
The garden is looking so tidy now. Our gardener spent 6 hours yesterday pruning the trees, cutting back the hedges, giving the grass its Final Cut of the year and generally tidying up.
We were reminiscing about how long he has been with us. His father initially started more than 30 years ago and initially N helped and then took over when his father retired.
He is a real countryman, loves wildlife and approves of the fact that our garden, unlike some he looks after,is,as it was 40 years ago ‘largely in a natural state’.
I have some tulip bulbs to plant in the pots in the back yard. Chilli powder and rose trimmings at the ready but I suspect the mice will again succeed in their feast of some of the bulbs.
Thinking of those with greater worries to cope with.
Good morning still dull and cloudy today.
Our Electricity goes off soon so we are off to MissOops to start packing for her move this weekend, her lease isn’t up until December but I think it’s best to get as much moved as we can then we just need to take down curtains and then clean after everything else has been moved out.
Have a good day everyone, enjoy your hols pantsglas
Good morning everyone from another dull grey day in Northampton, although a few sunny spells expected this afternoon.
Yoga went well yesterday and enjoyed coffee afterwards with some of our class.
Did very little when I got home; had lunch, read the papers, caught up with all the news on here.
Had decided to wear my cord leggings yesterday, and thought how cosy they were and that I fancied another pair, so browsed the M&S site and ordered a pair in bitter chocolate (dark brown!). I have decided to 'size-up ' for comfort.....
Also browsed Amazon and ordered some long yoga socks for winter - my current ones barely cover my ankles and am fed up with cold legs during class.
The towels are in the washing machine, but will have to tumble dry them today, as the new washing line is not installed yet - must call DS and see when he can spare a couple of hours. Also will message the gardener today and ask him to come and tidy up before winter.
Walking group this afternoon.
Fish and home-made chunky oven chips for dinner.
Have a good holiday Pant.
And everyone else, hope you have a pleasant day.
Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. A tidy round this morning and then a visit to a friend later in the day. I really would prefer driving earlier in the day but she is involved in school run arounds.
Happy holiday Pantglas
Why not a new sewing machine Marydoll
Best wishes
My eldest son has just messaged me to say, 'I'm currently at the top of Arthur's Seat, having set out from Edinburgh at 6am.' He's obviously making the most of being in Scotland for a business meeting. 😁 I thought he was still in Cornwall. 😂
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and cloudy but dry and mild
Have a wonderful holiday sailing the seas pantglas I’m looking forward to hearing all about it ⛴️
It sounds like you’re really enjoying your new allotment karma good for you, it’s certainly keeping you busy
I’ve a volunteering session this morning then a quick trip into town, hopefully some gardening later to get some fresh air.
Oh my goodness greyduster I hope the heating engineer turns up soon, you shouldn’t be without heating and hot water for any length of time
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning. It’s dull again but mild and dry outside in N. Bucks.
I’ve been enjoying painting Christmas cards, mainly snowman themed this year. I’ll try to remember a few pics
Off to try and sort out my glasses this morning. Thanks to those of you who commented about them yesterday.
Later I’ll be spending a couple of hours with DD3 and the boys while DH puts up a couple of hand rails for our next door neighbour.
Thoughts with those who are poorly and a good day wished for all.
Morning, a grey day again, have a smashing cruise pantglas 🚢.
Good luck Corner it’s my least favourite place too.
Cold/cough in full force now and very annoying, I eat so much more fruit and veg than MrJ and he remains germ free!
I may batch cook some lasagna today, it’s on my list of ttd, or I might just wallow in paracetamol and tissues!
Enjoy yours.
🦩🦩
Wooohoo, I got my Christmas delivery slot of choice and while waiting in the queue, received a lovely PM from a fellow Gransnetter.
Good morning everyone from Málaga where the sun has got its hat on already. No wonder oldies like to winter in sunny climes - good for the soul as well as the bones. Talking of which Pants enjoy your Caribbean cruise! Years ago I read how poorer folk visit the Canaries in winter whilst the rich go to the Caribbean! Nuff said. 🤣
Well Tuesday = Ladies Who Wine. 🍷
This afternoon we have to walk to another new watering hole (this one will be our 4th in the 10 years since we started the group - this actual month when I think on it). Maria Carmen has shut up shop and sold the lease. Neighbours there do not know what the new owner intends with the premises. Another bar? Unlikely they think as it’s off the beaten track back from the main road and so ill placed to attract new punters.
Anyhow the 2 who live out here will be joined not only by myself (I’ve brought them each a box of Thornton’s fudge and the Saga magazines I’ve read) but by another holidaymaker too who hails from Yorkshire. I’ve not seen her for about a year as we’ve not quite overlapped and I’m really looking forward to a jolly catch up with all their news.
