That's interesting GrandmaC47. My sister lived in one of the terraced houses further up the street early in her marriage. The cows look so well groomed in the photos, well prepared for their photo shoot it seems, not at all like I remember them.
I wondered about traffic hold ups, but then remembered the roads would have been far less busy back in the day.
Those cows had a good life, taking a trip to the seaside cliff fields every morning.

A Ruby for me tonight , washed down with some vintage cider @ 8.4%

Annypop I think I recognise that road from years ago 😀.

Marydoll you are such an inspiration, if I only had a tenth of your determination and can do attitude.
Some very busy ladies on here today, I’m trying to get the energy to put the bedrooms to right after our visitors.
Happy travel she to those on the move and hope our poorlies get better soon.

Enjoyed the photos Annypop the cow waiting to cross bought a smile.

A very late Good morning from County Durham where the sun is trying hard to make an appearance.
A lovely trip to Richmond yesterday taking in preparation for Remembrance Day. Lots of knitted poppies on display.
After our trip to Beamish on Thursday I managed to find two photos of the cows being driven through my childhood village. I plan to pass them on to my sister who equally shared the horror of passing through them each school day. How well I recall that stink.
Quiet day today. I shall see what else I can find to pop into my now heaving charity bag.
Have a good day all.

Good morning from dull and grey South Lanarkshire.

It was a very long day of childminding yesterday as we were needed to stay on for the evening so got home late. It happens rarely though so I don’t mind.

I’m spending today with a friend and fellow Gnetter along with a close friend of hers. We three have had many enjoyable days out, I’m looking forward to it.

Sending good wishes to all, especially those with worries or sadness to cope with. Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Sat 09-Nov-24 08:41:23

Well you didn’t take much persuading to buy a new sewing machine Marydoll! Good for you.

FGT, it was DH, who bought it, after seeing it in my Amazon wish list. 💕
His reason: life is too short and my horizons have shrunk, no more foreign holidays etc and limited in what I am able to do.
He never says anything, but realised I was struggling and feeling quite low, so decided to treat me. Way better than a bar of chocolate.😁

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is still grey!

Inside is all busyness and sunshine as we have DD2 and co here. Not a lot planned but things happen organically. DD2 and DSiL are going out for their wedding anniversary tonight while the rest of us have a date with a take away pizza and Strictly.

Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Sat 09-Nov-24 08:39:40

Morning Mick, morning All. Another Eeyore day ahead for our corner of Somerset.

A good day yesterday, took some shopping to our housebound friend and stayed for a natter. Decided to head off to a shopping mall in the afternoon. Couldn’t find a hoped for sweater but never mind, enjoyed a wander and a cuppa. So why couldn’t I sleep last night? Still awake after 3 this morning. I’ve just commented to Mr C it doesn’t matter as I’ve no need for a brain today. His return comment? Hard to know the difference. Huh!

With thoughts to all finding life less than easy, have the best day you can everyone.

Good-very-late-for-me-morning from under my umbrella on my patio swing seat. It's mizzly here. Bought two winter coats at my fave charity shop yesterday, £4 each, amazing. They're pristine. Celebrated with a ginormous slice of coffee and walnut cake (they have a café selling all home-made cakes) and deservedly felt sick for two hours afterwards. Too much sugar! 😄

I fancy a bit of beachcombing today so will see what the tides are doing and head down to the town beach where most of my treasured collectables were found. My eldest son and I are planning a trip to the sea reaches of the Thames to do some mudlarking but I suspect it will have to wait till after Christmas.

Good morning everyone from a dull and dreary day in Northampton; no let up in this miserable weather. At least I will be in till late afternoon. Will probably do some washing (and use the tumble dryer, as my new washing line is not up yet).

Enjoyed my three dance classes yesterday; we practised all the dances we are doing at our annual 'performance' Sunday next week - four tap routines, and three ballet. My friend and I went for a much needed coffee afterwards! Spent the afternoon recovering.

Out late afternoon for a rugby match, should stay dry but will need to wrap up warm, so on with the thermals. Must find some time to wrap DGD1's birthday present.

Off to do some toast now; have a pleasant Saturday everyone.

hollysteers Sat 09-Nov-24 08:27:26

Good morning Mick and all from another dull day 9°C northwest coast.
Had my flu jab yesterday and later a food shop. I stupidly chose a massive trolley, it was busy and I seemed to get in everyone’s way. Met a friend of a friend who said she hardly recognised me after my op and weight loss. Felt dreadful and it would have made more sense to do a shop online.

Friend due to come and stay overnight today, but I have put him off until tomorrow and will just rest.
Am eating more normally now, which pleases me.
Thoughts to all as always🌺

boyjess Sat 09-Nov-24 08:26:37

Kali Mera all , it's grey and miserable here in Derbyshire, very grim looking

Good morning all and I’m late up as I dozed off again and had a panicky dream. I can always wake myself up from bad dreams, so was relieved when I realised it wasn’t real . It’s left me unsettled though.😢.

Yesterday we arrived at our usual meeting place with our pals and it was locked up with notices in the door saying ‘This pub is now closed’. We knew it was coming , but last week the landlady told us she wasn’t retiring and would be open for us. We’ve been going there for 40 + years. We think the son has put his foot down. She is 91 after all.
It’s sad we didn’t get a little farewell drink with her.

We diverted to another lovely pub/restaurant who accommodated us beautifully and we’re booked in on a special table from now until 20th December every Friday. End of an era!

Today ds1 and Dd will go to footie and I’m going to catch up with recommendations on Netflix.

There is a concert in another town which I might go to, but the traffic is so bad at weekends, it puts us off going anywhere.

FFT enjoy your day. I can understand you feel unsettled, but get out and about and cast those feelings off.

Karma that sounds like a lovely day with your girls.
Hope all goes well with the move Oops.

Love and best wishes to all 🌻🍁

Well you didn’t take much persuading to buy a new sewing machine Marydoll! Good for you.

Thinking this morning of Blossoming. I hope you’re okay dear lady and getting the usual VIP treatment from your dear husband.

And Maw too after her sadness this week. 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 09-Nov-24 08:11:30

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

OH and I spent several hours yesterday setting up my new pc. We’re nearly there, but I couldn’t install Microsoft Teams which I need. My daughter is coming for the weekend so I’ll ask her as I know she uses it for work.

My new car will be available in January. I’d hoped it would be ready before Christmas, but sadly not.

Have a good day everyone. So many of you are having difficult times.🌹

Good morning from the now usual dull Suffolk. We are hoping for some sun on Monday….we’ll see.

It is the usual monthly country market in our nearest small town so we’ll be off in an hour or so. The bread stall sells out of the most popular items with an hour or so of opening at 9am. I know I can order the particular loaf we like in advance but never think sufficiently in advance to do so.

Apart from that a quiet day ahead will be most welcome. Hope all have a peaceful one.

Morning, grey again, a better sleep with minimal coughing, MrJ now has the cold so we’re a right pair, me coughing, him sneezing.
We’ve got some Michaelmas daisies to get in the ground and a climber, they’ll need watered in.
Good luck with the move Oops

Good morning from the usual grey W Kent. A slight sore throat two days ago has now progressed to a cough and headache. Lying around at present, luckily nothing much planned for today
Best wishes

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is u8°C.

Welcome, mum2three, I haven't noticed you posting before.

Another unsettled night, how I envy those, who sleep like logs.

DIL had invited me to a school fundraiser last night, I was reluctant to go, ( feeling rubbish) but she and Dollie insisted on picking me up.
What a great evening I had! One of my close friends was there, parishioners I knew well, former parents and a number of very grown up ex pupils. Dollie and DIL were highly amused, as I worked the room,
However, I didn't recognise most of my pupils, they had all changed so much.
I was quite overwhelmed by how warmly I was greeted.

I don't feel up to doing much today , apart from proof reading the parish bulletin. The PP has asked if I would. do so, he is still finding his way and sometimes makes errors.
Vigil Mass tonight, we have another head count to do.
Last night, I encountered two parishioners in the very dark church car park and conscripted them into doing tomorrow's 5pm Mass headcount.
I am learning to delegate!

My new sewing machine has arrived, how I am loving it. DIL is taking my old one, she says it has got to be better than hers, which no longer sews in a straight line. 😁 I may have a play about with it

Georgesgran, I was sorry to read of your worrying news and that you are still struggling, Oops.💐
Bonnybanko, I hope your sister is feeling better.
Best wishes to all, who are struggling.

Have good day folks.

Good morning, it’s another damp, dull start to what seems another dismal weather day here in south Glos.
I spent some time yesterday starting the bias binding border of a Somerset square that I made a number of years ago, it’s been in the back of the cupboard taunting me to get on with it!
I’m hand sewing the border because I need to focus on the corners, having never tried it before. Hopefully it won’t look too bad 😊
So, more of that today after I walk the dog, along with finishing DGC2’s socks - I’m very annoyed that the pair I sent by first class post to his older brother never arrived 😡, Royal Mail collected the package from the house and I have a receipt. Apparently that doesn’t mean anything, let alone that they’ll get to the destination. Not happy but obviously I will make him another pair.
Have a lovely weekend 🌹

harrigran Sat 09-Nov-24 08:01:40

Good morning from a damp NE.
DS is taking GD to school for a rehearsal and will come here until it is time to collect her.
Had a lovely lunch with friend yesterday and a catch up. We also booked for our December meal to ensure we get a table.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks like a bright sunny start to the day. The last couple of days have been really gorgeous for November, but I know it can’t last
Good to hear from you Pantglas hope the cruise is going well and you’re enjoying every minute 🚢
No definite plans for today except a walk somewhere this morning, a coffee and a bit of food shopping.
Hope the move goes well Oops

Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
