Why is it as women we have to know everything?
Every night I have to know what everyone wants to eat because no one has a bloody clue if I ask them, also this week I've been asked how long it would take to get to London, how long something would take to microwave, what his boss would say if he asked for a day off! I'm fed up

My wife is a good cook when she is in the mood for cooking, usually once a week, so I have to organize the daily menu otherwise it would scratch meals every day. It’s no big deal for two, more complicated for a family, although when we had the children at home it was just more of the same.

the answer to that should be whatever you want to make!!!

My daughter messages me to ask time of local to her buses. She'd be quicker looking up bus timetable.!

My husband sometimes spends time looking for something, when I ask what are you looking for he always replies …… nothing. Is he the only man that wastes so much time looking for nothing!

Jane judge
Time for a cooking rota if you have adult children at home… less pressure for you and good training for them!

Think how you would feel if they stopped needing you? It really is a compliment.

We should all change our name to Google!
You are so right.

What time should we leave ? I then come up with an answer, then himself says ‘oh I think we should leave a little earlier than that’. 🤪

Oh dear, biglouis, that's awful.
No child deserves that.

Oreo Mon 11-Nov-24 21:16:25

I don’t doubt it.Poor you.☹️

I must have ben about 13 when I shouted up the stairs "Mum, wheres my gym shoes?". Next moment I was knocked across the room by my father who told me never again to shout at my mother like that and to "Look after your own stuff."

Sharp lesson. I never did that again.

So glad I dodged the bullet on family life. Always taking responsibility for other people who act like small children.

Well tbf some of them are actually small children, grandchildren 😃
Family life has its ups and downs but generally more ups than downs fortunately.

I wouldn’t ask what people want to eat, just say ‘we’re having xxx’, if they don’t fancy it, they can sort themselves out.
Google is their friend for a lot of daft questions.
Fortunately I don’t have the problems the OP has, maybe because people know me better 🙂

Me too 😄

I don’t know, but this usually starts at the beginning of your time together - you are so kind, helpful, you sort, do and now …. perhaps not enjoying so much. I’ve just arrived on this group, so forgive me, but ladies, women whatever might be
allowed, we are different from men - I spoke about this subject to a male friend and his reply - it’s not that we don’t want to, but generally ‘you want to take over, so why do it, if you do’ - I know from experience he is right - but it can always be changed if we don’t nag! We do create our own ‘girlie’ things - we do, if you take the time to really think about what we do, you can also fix it. I hope your responses won’t be too unkind!

Thank goodness for this post. I thought I was the only one going through this maddening amount of silly questions every morning. It's one after another. Sometimes I just say, "No more questions, please."

Do you think it's going to rain?

Or, do I need an umbrella. Have you seem my keys anywhere.

Oh I am soooo glad it’s not just me. I get so fed up of OH looking for something right in front of his eyes and not seeing it.I wouldn’t mind a one off but this is a constant.

I use a menu blackboard with a weeks meals pre-planned written on it. Every day I get asked what I’m planning for dinner. Aaaaarrrrrhhhh!!! And “Do I need a coat?”. I’m pretty fed up with managing a toddler.

A friend of mine , when she is fed up with answering questions, decides she will be “Bertha” for the day, and unless they ask Bertha a question she ignores them- they’ve never cottoned on!

OMG! I was so lucky with my husband! None of this rubbish.
The only thing he ever did wrong in 57 years was die.

Oh Crosstitchfan, so sorry for your loss. It must have been lovely to have had a good, decent husband.
Yet so heartbreaking for you to lose him. 😔

sankev Mon 11-Nov-24 19:41:44

Age old question, “what do you fancy for dinner”? DH “oh anything will be fine by me “ “okay we’ll have fish “. DH “ oh l don’t fancy fish “ !!, Sound familiar to anyone??

The funniest question I was ever asked was from my daughter. She went out and missed dinner so when she came in hungry I told her to sort herself out. I’d made a stew and all she had to do was reheat it in the microwave. I told her to make sure it was piping hot. Next thing she asked me how many bubbles there had to be before it was safe to eat lol! When I started to laugh she got very indignant and said it would be my fault if she got food poisenimg. She’d have been about 16 at the time.
