Good morning everyone from a very grey Málaga. Heavy rain is forecast later. Our flight home isn’t until 9pm so we will potter, tidy up, the sheets are in the wash now. I will make the beds up with fresh ones and just leave these to dry inside the balcony area on a clothes maiden.
We will have coffee downstairs mid morning, back up to read and maybe watch some SKYTV (or not) then have a proper meal down in Juan’s about 3pm. Sometimes we get the train to the airport (only €4 for us both!) but due to the weather we will treat ourselves and ring a taxi at 6pm for €20.
As we lock up I shall be silently praying that we are able to return here together next springtime. 🤞
I remember as my mum got older she felt the same way when locking up their caravan each winter. As they drove away she said she used to look across at it and hope ‘next year, all being well, we will be back to open up again’. Me too mum, me too.

Good Morning Thursday 14th November 2024
(44 Posts)Good morning all. North Leicestershire is chilly.
DH has a hair appointment, is going to the bank and dropping some dvds off at the charity shop all while negotiating the annual street fair. I am going to have tea and cake at a lovely cafe in a forest. We are having a planning meeting - or that is the excuse!!
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from south Glos (also on the edge of the Cotswolds too Oops!) where it’s dry and misty.
Yesterday was lovely, we had a long walk (although the poor dog wasn’t happy because of distant artillery fire from tanks on Salisbury Plain, she is terrified of thunder, gunshots etc 😥) in sunshine and through woods, followed by a lovely pub lunch. The afternoon was spent quietly in front of the wood burner, knitting and listening to podcasts.
I haven’t slept well, again, perhaps this is the new norm?
Today I have stitch group this after, dog walk this morning.
Have a lovely day 🌹
Good morning everyone from a still darkish but misty Northampton, but sunny spells are forecast. Yesterday was beautiful, but I spent most of it indoors cooking.
Two Christmas puddings made, fed with Cointreau, and now in the freezer. I also made four individual cottage pies. Had one for dinner last night and the others are in the.freezer alongside the puddings. I intend on making mince pies next week.
I had time late afternoon to sit down with a slice of cake and start my new book.
Off to Milton Keynes on the bus this morning; I have a Christmas present for DD to pick up at John Lewis, will have a bite to eat and then have a mooch around the shops.
Glad all went well for Susan and her DM yesterday; hope that FGT2 and her DH get home safely.
Have a pleasant day everyone.
Good morning from a cloudy Cornwall. Yesterday was delicious, starting with a bus at 8am to the library craft group in another town, then a mooch around a quirky secondhand bookshop where I found some unusual Haydn piano music, then a bus to my son's where I collected the two little ones from school, then a lovely meal with the three of them cooked by my son after the children were in and out to gym club and Beavers. Bus home at 8pm was full of Uni students. Love their energy and fashion sense.
Today I'll take a bucketload of tlc to my daughter-in-law who had a nasty dental operation in hospital yesterday. She's very stoic but will appreciate the love. She's constantly giving her time to me.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but I think the sun of the past few days will desert us today. Had a good session at writers group yesterday. We all produced pieces inspired by Remembrance Day and discussed the war poets.
Walking this morning and then lunch with DD, and GS if he’s studying at home today.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from Malta where the weather is similar to yesterday’s. 25°C high, 17° low. Maybe some showers.
Littlest has gone back to nursery today so I’m torn between being glad I didn’t have to get up so early, and missing him. He’s such good company.
I have my postponed doctor’s appointment this morning. I’ve a laundry list of things to discuss with her, but usually when I get there it all goes out of my head.
So glad your mum’s move went smoothly Susan although it must have been emotional for you. I hope she settles in and feels happy there.
As usual, I don’t know how you cram so much into your days, grandMattie. You must be exhausted.
I was concerned about FGT when I saw the news, so am glad to know she and himself are ok.
Wishing you all a good day.☀️
Good morning from a dark W Kent. Slightly early start for me as I was woken up by me coughing away.
Quiet day planned but the Christmas cards are getting written.
Glad all went well with mum Susan
What a tiring day gM
Hoping FGT can get home
Best wishes.
Oh good Susan I was thinking of you, it’s been a difficult time.
Morning, apparently it’s dry and cloudy, the cough remnant of my cold woke me early.
Good you’re feeling better Oops
Crumbs gMattie that was a busy day, today will be gentler for you.
Yesterday was lovely and sunny, I enjoyed a walk scrunching leaves as I went, that was after the boiler man came for the annual service. Two long phone calls with friends and two meet ups booked in.
I have to chase my surgery later for a hernia referral that seems to have gone awol, book a lunch out with another friend and sort out getting some boxing in of pipes in the cloakroom.

That must be a great burden off your shoulders, susan. Glad for you.
So pleased that yesterday went well Susan such a relief for you all.
Good morning from Shropshire.A misty start but sunshine forecast later.
Thank you so much for all the good wishes for mum yesterday.
The move to the care home was very emotional. The ward staff including the drs, nurses, healthcare assistants and cleaners all came to wave her off.Lots of hugging and tears from me and her carers but mum was fine!We arrived at the care home and two lovely ladies immediately introduced themselves and took her to the dining room.We went to get some things from her house to make her room look more homely. When we got back she was in the music group. She wasn’t particularly happy but she wasn’t sad either. Its all new and after the isolation of the hospital with very high windows she is very happy to be looking out over the garden. We will go back today to take her tv then the carer has recommended a few days off visiting so she can settle and join in the groups.
grandMattie what a busy day you had.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning from s somerset, cool and dry today
I too am much relieved to read about FGT being safe
I woke in the early hours, strange how my mind gets so busy when I have something to work out. Allotment -based and I did wake with an answer. More strenuous work today, I need to make the shed roof waterproof before the rains start again, which could be sunday
Have a good day
Just checked we are actually in the Cotswolds! That’s nice. On the edge though I suspect.
Good morning from a dark ‘almost in the Cotswolds’ in West Oxfordshire, I must see how far away we are.
Staying with MissOops, emptying boxes and sorting her kitchen out, a few more things to do today, she made a list but it was dark too early to do some things so we will have a crack at them today.
I’m feeling much better too, we will walk the 100 yds into the village and I’ll treat her to a coffee and a cake at the local tea shop/ restaurant, handily next to a greengrocer and opposite the Hardware shop, a luxury for me as we have to get the car out at home for everything.
Relieved that FGT and Himself are ok and hopefully will be able to get home today.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning all. Still dark outside in Glasgow. No rain forecast but the thick mist we are having leaves everywhere damp. Not much fun for gardening.
A busy day ahead with the best part of the day being, collecting GD1 from school and we will be having a treat of coffee/juice/cake at a local cafe. This will help keep her mind off the fact that eldest Lab, Millie is having surgery today for a ligament problem.
At some point today I will be dropping off a few bags of clothing at the charity shop.
Best wishes to all for a good day.
Good morning from an overcast Bristol. It was very chilly yesterday, but probably less so today.
FGT2 said they were safe in the Malaga flooding. I hope everything is ok there. I think they were better prepared than Valencia.
I was exhausted by the end of yesterday. The FAB cafe went well with about 25 people attending, plus the AgeUK people, their volunteer and a few church volunteers too. Lots and lots of safeguarding questions asked, fire regulations to be adhered to, etc. apparently, churches don’t need fire alarms or drills. Perhaps Him upstairs does that?
I spent nearly 3 hours on my feet, making coffee, serving (donated) cake. I spent about 10 minutes towards the end sitting with an old chap and his half-French carer who rejoices in the name “Gawain”!
As usual, my very slight accent required explanation; I find it very wearing but understand people’s curiosity. My French name, my accent and my height and blondness causes confusion when people find out I’m not from Germany, France or Holland, but Mauritius!
I gobbled down my lunch and went off to the book group in the other village. Our Jack Reacher book was unanimously voted as ok, but formulaic and extremely improbable.
I then had to go back to church, in completely the opposite direction to empty the dishwasher and store our crockery in the designated cupboard.
Home, and ate a reheated meal, before going to bed early with my hot water bottle.
Today? Quiet, with just tai chi.
Sorry about novella.
