Scapa I'm sorry to hear that you have been unwell.

luluaugust Thu 14-Nov-24 09:50:25

Scapal you have my sympathy, this is a nasty infection I am slowly getting better but have also had to cancel everything. Take care

Good morning Mick and all from a bright but damp northwest coast.
Nice day yesterday, firstly at the lunchtime recital, which I enjoyed despite being mainly Beethoven, not my favourite composer, and the chap next to me smelling musty. Secondly meeting up with old soprano friend and her new man. We had refreshments in an olde worlde cafe I had forgotten about, chandeliers and wooden panelling. Sometimes out of town visitors remind us of places in our own town we no longer frequent. New man very nice and generous. I’m still on soft food after my op’ so had egg mayonnaise sandwiches and still had to leave quite a lot of additions on the plate.

Quiet day today and thoughts to Susan FGT and all🌺

Glad FGT is okay and hope flight home etc goes as planned. Fingers crossed for MrFGT's results. Haven't read all posts yet will do so later. After a lovely holiday in Cyprus I came home with a chest infection which has pute out of action for the last week. My is it taking its time to shift! Have had to postpone two hospital appointments and two friends meeting both of whom are now away on holiday for two weeks. Been feeling a bit sorry for myself but things will surely be better next week. The weather looks nice and sunny from here lying in my bed but must make the effort to get up. DH has done a sterling job. Thoughts with those poorly or worried, I am very lucky really.

A late Good Morning from a chilly, bright Durham. The sky here looks far better than FGT’s. A restless night, with a few aches and pains. Not helped by Little Dog snuggled in. Now he’s here, plans could turn on a sixpence, as Son-in-L2 has gone to New York this morning. DD2 says she can manage the Nursery run and can WFH today.
I’m having coffee with a friend soon, then after picking up a parcel from Next, I’ll take LD out for a walk in the daylight.

The car roof behaved itself MD but I’m leaving well alone. Just a blip I think 🤞

Best wishes to all. X

A rather late morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire. I overslept!

I saw my friend yesterday who had a recent hip replacement. She looks very well.

The Local History Society was ‘ok’. Our local famous person wasn’t mentioned at all. The speaker concentrated on blue plaque people in the area.

OH will finish his pea and ham soup today.

I will start making Christmas lists with a view to going to Oxford on Monday.

I hope the FGT2s get home safely and I’m pleased to hear that Susan’s mother was moved without incident.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a damp and grey Black Country.

Enjoyable Italian meal last night, with some of the ladies from our walking group Supper Club. I had Ravioli with ricotta and Tiramisu.

Today walking for Health group walk at a local country park, then onto Mums. We will have lunch out then I have booked an appointment to have her hair cut at 2.30.

Staying overnight as we have another Memory Cafe in the morning.

Safe travels FGT and himself.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-Nov-24 08:58:17

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry. My windows are steamed up so the heating is on for a while. GrandMattie it sounds like a successful day for you yesterday. I, too, have read many Jack Reacher novels over the years. The plots sometimes had interesting twists but the books grew stale very quickly.
FGT safe journey home. Susan I'm glad your mum is safely ensconced in the care home.
Yesterday was the last art class and I have two paintings begun which should motivate me to complete them at home. My neighbour came for a chat in the afternoon. She and her husband returned from Lanzarote a couple of weeks ago but I hadn't seen either of them. It was lovely to see her.
I had a very restless night and woke late. Today I have no plans except to wrestle the kitchen into submission and take down the paint splattered curtain. Have a good day all.

GrannySomerset Thu 14-Nov-24 08:51:55

Looks as if we have had our quota of sunshine for now, but at least we have had some lovely days and I am grateful for that. Supermarket shop the highlight of today plus some admin so had better get started. Glad that Susan’s mum accomplished her move and hope that FGT gets home without incident.

EkwaNimitee Thu 14-Nov-24 08:36:23

Good morning Mick and everyone from misty, grey Carlisle.

I pottered gently through some chores yesterday morning, did the exercises for my poorly shoulder and spent the afternoon doing admin and brain training. Fingers crossed, at least the latter organ seems to work effectively still!
This morning, the ironing beckons, thankfully the iron is held in my left hand or the job probably wouldn't be possible.
Late morning, annoyingly, I must get into town to see the dentist about a minor crack that is appearing in a denture. An expensive outing therefore.

I'm working my way through the Jack Reacher novels grandMattie. Not great literature but page-turning escapism. They are certainly formulaic and very improbable, you would have thought that years of leaving dead bodies and mayhem behind him, the guy would have been infamous/famous all over the States by now! At the other end of the literary spectrum I have just bought the Booker prizewinning novel 'Orbital' which I am tempted to start ahead of everything else still waiting to be read.

Wishing you all the best possible day.

cornergran Thu 14-Nov-24 08:35:36

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed a chatty coffee with neighbours yesterday morning. Always good to spend time with them. Dust banished for an hour or two I enjoyed wrapping small Christmas gifts before settling for a phone chat with our Welsh friend to be horrified to hear she had spent a lot of Monday in A&E after fainting on a bus. Thankfully her neighbours are keeping an eye on her as she has no helpful family. In the evening a number of messages from a distressed young friend followed by a late hour long phone rant from one of our sons rather disrupted sleep.

A quiet one ahead today, I hope. We plan a stroll to a small store, a sit down with a coffee before the bus back. This evening I’m driving a friend to a forum regarding local issues. Usually interesting. I have no plans to use a phone!

You’re a virtual whirlwind grandmattie. Wishing your Mum well Susan. Take it easy today if you can. Travel safely FGT, interesting clouds. A happy birthday to your grandson monk. Please rest maryd.

Time to move. Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Thu 14-Nov-24 08:17:30

Good morning. Damp and dull here in N. Bucks but we did have some lovely sunshine yesterday.
Hope your Mum settles quickly Susan56.
I have a project sample to make for craft club and this afternoon is sewing club.
Hoping everyone finds a smile in their day .

Liberty Thu 14-Nov-24 08:04:10

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk, thankfully so different from the awful weather in Spain. Hope your journey home FGT goes according to plan.

Afternoon tea yesterday was delicious and plentiful and we left with a box of cakes to bring home. Today is a quieter one. I have my stretch class and DH is taking the little dog to the vets. He wants advice as to how to treat her skin over the coming cold months. She has an ongoing problem.

Hope your DD Gingster is feeling better today and all those with worries or illnesses of their own or other loved ones.

Grammaretto Thu 14-Nov-24 08:03:44

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
What a sky FGT! I heard on the radio today that your skies were blue today but that more rain is forecast. An emotional day for you. Safe travels.

I'm glad your DM's transition to the
care home has been achieved Susan. It can't have easy for you.

I seem to have acquired another cold so won't go on a long walk just yoga and then my name's down on the tea rota at U3A monthly meeting. Tonight ceilidh dancing if I am still awake.
In between: an hour's decluttering and an hour's knitting.

Have a good day everyone.

What a

Good morning all from the Black country where we had overnight rain.
Today is Dgs1 9th birthday we shall see him on Sunday, he had part of his present when we were away it was clothes that he liked.
The car arrived back all MOT'd for another year the bill was less than they predicted for the replacement spring so that was a bonus.
Susan glad all went well for you yesterday.
Shopping again today and I need to ring my cousin his sisters funeral has been rearranged and we can no longer go.
FGT2 💐 safe travels home.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little ☀️

Annypop Thu 14-Nov-24 07:56:19

Good morning all from County Durham.
Lovely wander into Durham with a friend yesterday.
Of course we visited the cathedral but unfortunately the cafe, where we intended to have lunch is being refurbished. We enjoyed a coffee anyway before exploring the very few independent shops.
I love these places where the rooms are tiny and you wander through a maze of colourful trinkets, cheesy souvenirs and one shop with an amazing array of the most beautiful scarves. I hadn't explored them for a long time so it was pure joy. Of course I couldn't resist yet another Christmas decoration.
Today we're off to North Yorks for a 5 mile walk and an overnight stay. The weather looks chilly but pleasant for walking.
Pleased to hear FGT is safe and glad to hear Susan's mum is settling into her new home.
gM what a busy life you live. I don't know how you do it.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Redcar Thu 14-Nov-24 07:55:12

susan I was too late yesterday to wish you well in moving your mum to the care home, but I’m so pleased that all went well for you all.
fgt2 I hope you have a safe and uneventful journey home this evening.
I haven’t read the rest of your posts, but hope that those with illness have some improvement today.
I’m still in bed at DDs, it’s a bright morning here in Essex and the trees in the park at the end of the garden are turning yellow. No doubt the colder weather forecast for next week will see them fall.
Another day of exercises and walking about beckons.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Thu 14-Nov-24 07:54:24

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 7°C.

I am pleased to hear the move went well, Susan , that you are improving Oops and to see you posting, Kalu.

GM, be careful you don't over do things.

Safe journey, FGT's.

I have a particularly bad night, so won't be doing much today, apart from picking up prescriptions.

Have a good day folks.

grandMattie Thu 14-Nov-24 07:53:15

Bon voyage 🛫, FGT2.
Thanks for the photos, they are very reassuring.

Gingster Thu 14-Nov-24 07:51:32

Good morning all. It seems milder but very damp here in Essex.

Yesterday was busy , one thing following on from another, culminating in Choir last evening. I went along feeling weary but determined and the school venue was having an Open Evening, so no choir! 😤. An E mail would have been nice, as I wasn’t there last week.

I visiting my friend who has had a knee replacement. She’s a bit down but healing ok. Her lovely Dh is a star. He’d made us soup, home made bread rolls and cake. All delicious. She’s a very lucky woman 😬. 🫤.

I’ll take little DGD to school, take the dog to the groomers and then on to Bowls.
Later school pickup, back here for tea and then the Brownies run and pick up. 🤯.

Fingers crossed for FGT. Hope their travels are problem free.
🙏.
Susan I’m sure your dm will settle and be glad she’s there.🙏.
I remember the feelings of leaving my dm the first time. 😥

Take care all.

brook2704 Thu 14-Nov-24 07:49:55

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks cloudy but dry
Pleased to hear all seemed to go well yesterday Susan56 hope your mum settles in well
Another busy day ahead with a volunteering session and then picking up DGD from school for a sleepover tonight. Also a quick trip to DD2s to squeeze in somewhere.
Safe travels home FGT
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

baubles Thu 14-Nov-24 07:47:09

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Kalu I remember fondly the days when I collected DD’s girls from school in your neck of the woods.

I’m pleased the move well yesterday Susan. I hope your Mum settles in comfortably.

After being unable to crochet for a few days due to a sore thumb I probably overdid it last night as I’m trying to catch up. Yarn group this evening where we will start bagging up angels in readiness for our annual Christmas yarn bomb.

I’ve been telling myself for a while that the bathroom cupboard needs a clear out, perhaps today will be the day I actually do something about it. grin

Have the best day possible everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 14-Nov-24 07:39:26

This morning. Just mow. 8:30am here at our front door.

Ashcombe Thu 14-Nov-24 07:31:02

Good morning from a chilly Torbay.

You all sound impressively busy but still awake and lucid quite early, too!

Safe travels to Mr. & Mrs. FGT. Very worrying time.

Thinking of you and your Mum, Susan56. I vividly remember going through this with my late mother, who had decided she could no longer live independently. An emotional time but ultimately the best decision as I’m sure you’ll discover.

Thank you for the compliments paid to olddudders regarding his photo yesterday. He was delighted!

Some of you may remember me mentioning Stephanie Austin who writes murder mystery books. She has acted and directed for Toads but has now settled in Ashburton where she sets her stories. A clever lady and entertaining speaker who kept us enthralled at Wednesday Club yesterday as she is launching her eighth novel. Here’s a link to her website:-

Enjoy whatever the day brings! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 14-Nov-24 07:18:17

* Today would have been mum’s birthday I think that’s another reason I’m so in tune with her memory today.
