Good morning from County Durham where we have a good covering of snow. The valley is looking very pretty indeed but I'm so glad I don't have to go out and drive and shudder for all those who must be out and about .
We received an early Christmas gift yesterday. DIL who has had treatment previously for breast cancer was told the newly discovered lump was nothing more than fatty tissue. Such a relief for everyone as you can imagine.
Not much planned for today other than a wintry walk and possibly some crafting. I've been knitting flowers and attaching them to twigs for a floral display. I have so much wool to use up and don't like to see it wasted.
I also need to put together a hamper of local produce for my sister, chutney, chocolate, fudge etc as the wrapping should be delivered today.
Such fantastic news from FGM. You both must be so relieved.
Wishing all a happy and peaceful day.

Good morning from a snowy N. Bucks. It is laying in the rooftops and pathways but not the roads at the moment but still large flakes falling.
Did well with craft preparation yesterday. Materials for 20 flower hoops , 15 Christmas chocolate and gift card holders and a few pieces made for the Christmas tree festival.
I also made inroads with ordering gifts.
This morning I have cake to bake and then I’m off to a talk and cheese tasting this afternoon.
Not yet read through the thread but as usual healing thoughts for those who need them and a good day wished for all.

Good morning from a chilly and wet Suffolk. I’m behind with all your news after my weekend in London but I hope it was all positive. I’ll catch up with today’s posts when DH appears with my second cuppa.

The weekend was wonderful as it always is with my friends of more than 67 years. As well as delicious Italian food and conversations ranging from worldwide issues to detailed ones about family and hopes and fears for the future,we did a really good tour in the British Museum.

I would heartily recommend it to anyone in that area when visiting London. It is bookable, costs £14 and is undertaken by a volunteer guide. Ours was great, live,y and interesting and just the right amount of information. It lasts 90 minutes and she picked out about a dozen of very different but very interesting exhibits from different galleries across the museum.

We saw wall paintings from Egypt, some of the Elgin marbles, the Sutton Hoo hoard, a penny from 1903 stamped by a Suffragette with ‘Votes for Women’ and other treasures.

Today is much more mundane but equally enjoyable with lunch with one of my closest friends.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Gingster my sister has just sent pictures of snow in Hertfordshire, my nieces (13 & 7) are hoping it settles

Good morning everyone from a cold, breezy and very wet Essex. I don’t think I’ll be going outside today, maybe tomorrow if it’s not too icy and if one of the family has time to take me for a little walk. Didn’t take the full dose of paracetamol yesterday and had an uncomfortable night as a result. But making progress anyway.
susan I’m pleased your mum is responding well to her new surroundings.
gingster glad you had a successful day in Chelmsford yesterday!
Have the best day possible everyone, keep warm and safe.

This has made me laugh! I keep seeing threads from years ago being resurrected into the “Active” list - and here we are today in a thread from the future 😁😁 (see title).

🤣

Never let it be said that we Gransnetters are behind the times!

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -5° and frosty. A rerun of yesterday. No snow here, thank goodness. I'm another who was glad to hear the good news on Soop's last night.
Yesterday was a quiet day. I nipped into town to sign the last piece of paper for mum's guardianship. Hopefully now it will be lodged with the court and I can get her settled. Dgs2 wasn't himself yesterday. He wasn't grumpy but has a bad cough and was very lethargic. He just wanted grandma cuddles. He was off his food too. Dd did think on Friday he was coming down with something. The light in the kitchen is failing and is very annoying, buzzing and flashing off and on. Dsil will get it down at the weekend as I can't quite reach.
Today is dgs2's third birthday. Dd has taken the day off to spend with him. They'll nip to me at some point but it'll depend how he is. She made his cake to his demands- Bluey, trains and dinosaurs- although she felt it wasn't to her usual standard. Other than a possible visit, I'll have a quiet day.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, it’s a thick frost here but clear skies and no snow yet although it’s forecast for later
DH and I enjoyed lunch out yesterday in the revamped Victorian market in town and we did a bit of shopping, this afternoon I’ve volunteering session but nothing else planned
Safe travels for all those on the move today especially with the icy conditions
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a wet and dreary Essex. No snow for us but rain most of the day.

My ds2 just messaged with a video of snow falling in Hertfordshire. The gds have requested Christmas songs while eating breakfast 😂.

Yesterday was a successful shop in Chelmsford with my pal. We got everything on our lists and then went for lunch. The bus journey both ways was great. Bus pass, no parking and not watching the clock. Perfect.

Today some declutterring and housework and then Bridge this afternoon.

So pleased for you both FGT. 🙏
Hope the protest goes well Sago.🤞
Take care everyone, especially those with snow and ice. ❄️

Good morning Mick and everyone from an increasingly cloudy Carlisle at -2°C. The moon and Venus were shining away pre-dawn.
A busy house day yesterday and another busy morning today. I haven't read all your posts yet as I have to de-ice the car and get into town shortly, for a blood test and then to deliver my broken denture to the dentist. I'd rather be staying in the warm!
Best wishes to all especially Mr FGT!

Good morning from a snow covered Black Country!

Hopefully it was disappear soon, as I am driving over to Mums and we are meeting up with my Aunt, Cousin, Brother and SIL for lunch. We are on a hill here so it is quite dodgy when there is snow on the road.

Have to ring Mums Doctors Surgery bang on 8am. A visit Friday to have her hearing aid tubes changed revealed an infection in her left ear. Took ages to speak to someone yesterday, to be told all appointments gone, and to ring this morning. Even though she said there were not many for today. So how did others manage to secure an appointment for today??

Fantastic news for FGT2 and himself. So happy for them.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

kittylester Tue 19-Nov-24 07:40:47

Good morning all from a white North Leicestershire. I suspect it will all turn to shush soon.

I have a singing lesson today and lots of pootling and faffing. DH has a volunteer drive.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp, chilly corner of Somerset.

The struggle with BT took a couple of hours yesterday. Eventually a techie person in Ireland took over, did some re-setting which he hoped would work. If not I now have a direct link to use which will reduce both time and frustration.

We both decided to go to take our friend for her hairdresser appointment. We rarely go to that area and were pleasantly surprised. A smiling charity shop welcome for our bag and a super coffee shop where we were temped to have lunch, simple, freshly cooked and delicious. A real find. Our friend felt so much better after her haircut, a result all round.

Today it’s routine, grocery delivery, bed changing and dust removal. We don’t rush, an easy enough day.

Another here with a big smile after reading Kitchen news yesterday evening. I’m so pleased for FGT and himself.

My thoughts go to all with worries of any kind. Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire.Snow overnight but mixed with rain so should disappear soon.DD over the border in North Wales has had a lot of snow. The children are out playing in it already.

DGD enjoyed her visit to see mum in the granny home.It was lovely to see them together again 🥰DGD chose an outfit for mum to wear today.Mum looks a different person after less than a week. She isn’t totally settled yet which is to be expected.

Today I hope to go into town but will depend on the snow.

Good to read FGT, Kate and kitty’s news on soop’s thread.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩☃️.

Good morning from a snowy Cheshire East.
Here to look after our grandchildren so our daughter can protest in London today.
First child gone off to the bus with grandad and the other in bed with daddy not wanting to get up!
Thank goodness for four wheel drives and Agas.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 19-Nov-24 07:27:24

Morning everyone, not sure what the weather is doing but it’s chilly.

Yet again woke up at 4.30am. I am popping into Lakeside Shoppers Centre this morning for Christmas gift shopping, DH has some food to locate locally.

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It looks like another bright and cold day ahead.

Yesterday’s filming was fun, and interesting to see how things work. The whole process took nearly three hours but the presenter and camera team were very warm and friendly so the time flew by. Let’s hope it is actually aired now. It’s to be part of a small section in a programme about crafts I believe.

I had worked for a couple of hours in the charity shop beforehand so it was early to bed for me, however a car alarm has been going off for hours so I’m like a wet rag this morning.

Nothing more exciting than dental hygienist today I’m afraid.

Sending everyone best wishes for a good day.

Greyduster Tue 19-Nov-24 07:24:19

Good morning Michael and all GNs. We have a winter wonderland here where a good covering of snow fell overnight. I have a car somewhere underneath it, but it won’t be going anywhere today and neither will I. The road is like a skating rink. Hopefully the temperature will lift as we go through the day. I shall do some batch cooking for the freezer today and try and catch up with my knitting again.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning from a wet S Hants, I think it’s beeb raining since about 1 yesterday.
Phones were quite busy yesterday, my daughter and Imogen called in for a soup and cake lunch. Evening was quiz, a great turn out, 50 odd people on a Monday in a small village is good.
Hair cut today, delayed from Friday, sausage meat out of the freezer for stuffing making tomorrow, it’s hand mixed in a washing up bowl..
Buoyant news for FGT and others in soops kitchen.

Good morning all from a snow covered Black country.
Good to read FGT's post on soop's very happy for them both.
Just a quick nip into Iceland to get a few bits then back to begin my new book.
Tablet needs charging so will catch up with everybody's happenings later, have a good day whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 19-Nov-24 06:56:25

Good morning from a very wet Oxfordshire.

Bathroom is now empty!

Have a good day everyone, I’ll pop over to Soops page, but so pleased to hear FGTs good news.

Good morning from Durham, where there is a covering of snow and the temperature feels like -7! I’m not out in the wilds, so it could be much worse in the Durham Dales.
A dog walk this morning, then meeting DD2 in Newcastle for a late lunch around 3pm.
I saw FGT’s post yesterday - good news for himself and her.

Best wishes to all. X
