(50 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , cold but dry at the moment here in brackley.
Today, hopefully get the bus to Bicester , see others I know, and return and Fish & Chips in the fryer .
Have an easy afternoon watching TV ,and maybe a nod aswell.
Health wise OK.
Take Care,
Mick
Great to see you April!
Beautiful photo Baggs. 👋 to you. I hope you and your family are alright. This time of year must be especially hard on you all. x
I get up early, but don't go online till the afternoon. So it's good afternoon all.
Good to see you, Baggs!
FGT when GS was younger and used to ask how old I was, his father used to say “Nanny’s so old she knitted socks for the Vikings!” He’s always skated on thin ice……
Good morning from sunny West Sussex. I should be outdoors before the storm comes but I needed a ☕️. My neighbour bought some wire netting to protect her pots of bulbs from the squirrels. She then couldn’t find her wire cutters so I sent DH out for a rummage in the shed and he found two pairs. I’m waiting to hear from her if it’s convenient to go over this morning (only way to our back gardens is through the house). Then I’ll go to the allotment, mainly to put a protective fleece wrapping round the echium, Pride of Madeira, that has seeded itself in out plot. If it survives and flowers the bees will flock to it.
I was quite productive, for me, yesterday - I iced the coffee cake I’d made the day before and boiled up some marmalade from a tin of Homecook I bought in Lakeland. I am trying to make the ‘real’ marmalade last until January when the Seville oranges will appear in the shops for their short season.
Ekwa, I have the same problem with my upper denture but I will probably have to have another tooth out next year so will struggle on until then - the joys…
Lfl, hope your DH’s baking goes well.
Greeting to new posters and look forward to hearing more about your lives 🙂
Hope both *Marydoll’ and BabyD will feel better soon.
Oops, I hope whatever has gone wrong with the bathroom can be sorted asap.
The wind is getting up. Storm Bertie is on its way.
😊😊
Thanks FGT, this is just the initial look today but I will be so pleased to get things underway as I really need to be able to keep driving as DH not always able to do all the driving now.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun is shining and Alexa tells me it’s 3°C rising to the heady heights of 5°C later. We slept in. Honestly we can sleep for England right now - bed at 10pm, awoke at 8am!
Thanks for the first chuckle of the day Greyduster I’ve been knitting this wretched cardigan since the vikings invaded not heard that expression before it’s great! Harrigran good luck with your doctors appointment today I know you’re a bit anxious owing to the speedy recall. I hope it goes okay and not too worrying. luluaugust cataract day - it will be good to be sorted I imagine. Hope you have a steady hand for admin of the post-op eye drops! My stepfather had his done a couple of years ago and was advised to gently pull his check downwards to make a little eye ‘pouch’ to accommodate the drops. He said it worked very well as he had to put them in x4 each day.
Himself is getting dressed (I’m not, #lazygran so why rush?) he’s going down in the lift to the pharmacy below to get his Covid & ‘flu jabs.
I am wary walking out on frosty leaves you never know whether there’s black ice under them! One slip and ‘bam’! No thanks. Yesterday I walked on the side roads wherever possible rather than the leaf strewn pavements.
Hope you feel a bit better later MaryD. X
I was hoping Aprilgem might post after a recent warm welcome to GN. Sadly, it seems she’s not interested.
Very cold this morning but bright and clear, presumably the calm before the storm promised for tomorrow. Oldies’ coffee morning the main activity today, taking my lovely but now quite unpredictable neighbour to give her daughter a brief break. At least we won’t get wet. Caring for someone with dementia is so hard and I feel I need to help if I can.
Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton.
Did very little yesterday when I got back from DD's apart from deal with the Sainsbury's delivery, read my book and cook dinner. Think I was recovering from the mainly sleepless night I had had at DD's.
Managed to order a few things on line for the DGD's Christmas presents. Was surprised by younger DGD's request for Fleetwood Mac's Rumours CD (she is 14); way off her radar I would have thought.
Glad to say I slept a lot better last night.
Out to the shops this morning to get a few things before the wet and stormy weather hits us tomorrow - have messaged my dance teacher to say I will be giving classes a miss today.
A curry to prepare and put in the slow cooker for tonight's dinner when I get back.
Hoping all have a pleasant day.
Good morning all. Snow has arrived in Glasgow, thankfully just a smattering but when it freezes over we will have treacherous icy conditions underfoot.
I will be collecting GD2 from school as she requested a repeat of both of us going for afternoon tea again this week. It is her choice of venue this time.
Boiler and CH check in an hour after which, house alarm system check.
I am also thrilled to read your good news Mattie. Finally! Happy birthday to your DD.
Good plan to stock up today GrandmaBatty. I will be doing likewise.
Hopefully a pleasant day is ahead for all.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Icy but no snow, yet.
U3A had a talk by 2 science professors yesterday about animal welfare and on the need to change our farming and eating practices.
I served teas, coffees and wicked biscuits afterwards.😅
I'm volunteer shop staff today. The Storehouse will become a Christmas Market for 4 weeks, along with the
cafe and organic shop.
My young helper found some beautiful embroidered cotton bedding at a charity shop and other goodies to furnish her new room in her new flat. I shall drive her into Edinburgh Sunday. She'll be missed.
I hope you have a restful day Marydoll. Caring for a sick child when you are unwell must be the hardest thing!
Happy birthday to your DD Mattie
Have a good day everyone. 😊
Good morning all from the Black country.
A blizzard yesterday evening white over but clear now and the sun is breaking through.
I've woke up with a swollen eye looks like I've been in a fight, don't know what's caused it but I've an appointment at the eye hospital next week for my other eye so shall just keep bathing it until then.
Should have been seeing friends this evening but DH is full of cold so has cancelled all our weekend plans.
Happy birthday to your daughter GM and good to hear you've finally got your refund.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.
Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Still no sign of snow and 2 degrees today so a bit warmer!
We are off Christmas shopping today but DH is a little grumpy already as heating is playing up. All a very intermittent problem and always works when the engineer comes. We are on the “naughty list” apparently for too many call outs!!!
Otherwise not much happening here but I have started to write the Christmas cards!!!
Wishing everyone a happy healthy Friday 🌻
Good morning Mick and everyone from a clear-skied Carlisle. A half moon is shining and it's -2°C, which is warmer than yesterday!
A welcome from me Autumncolours and Lilibill.
Yesterday was tedious. I had to go into town early and my car was well iced up. Apart from the hard work of scraping the ice off the windscreen, I hate having to run my engine to blast air at it inside. Very anti-social I always think. It all took ages.
When I got to the dentist, my repaired partial denture didn't fit, too loose. I had to return after lunch, when the dentist advised my soft tissues had shrunk back to their pre-denture state. Denture temporarily 'glued' back in till, hopefully, tissues return to their post denture state. This morning, it seems they already have, we'll see. The joys of gradually becoming decrepit!
Ironing this morning, very preferable to going out on foot or in the car. A little bathroom cleaning and tidying then that's it till next week. I shall get back into my book on keeping my aging body going. A bit like having a classic vintage car as a hobby, constant work and tuning up!
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Good morning all and it’s still very cold but no frost here in Essex.
Yesterday was very busy but enjoyable. Dgd1 is home for a few days so her, dd and I went out for lunch. Lovely to chat with her about her very demanding job. She says she feels settled now and does enjoy it.🤔.
DGD6 had half day so her big sis picked her up from school and brought her back here. They love being together and laugh and chat although there’s 13 years gap.
Brownies later where they made ‘Brownies’ cake. She thought this very funny.
Today we’re taking our Friday pals out for lunch as it will be DH’s 75th next Monday.
Enjoy the day as best you can.🍁❄️
Good morning all, I have just lost my novella. 😡
I am exhausted an coughing for Scotland, after caring for an ill baby on steroids. 💕
I have no energy to start again., so I will just wish you all a pleasant day.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and frosty again. Brook it's pretty to look at but can create chaos! GrandMattie happy birthday to your dd. Oops sounds like all is not well in your world 💐
Yesterday I was at dgs1's school in place of his mum. It was a reading event where Scottish Book Trust gave all primary one pupils a bag of books. The school had laid on coffee and biscuits and we read the books with the children who voted for their favourite. Dgs1 was very excited by the whole thing. Afterwards I took him to his other gran's house where dgs2 was very surprised to see me and kept rushing to me for cuddles.
Today I'm heading to Aldi this morning. The forecast for tomorrow is heavy snow in the morning, so I'd rather stock up today. Then I'm meeting some school friends for lunch fairly locally. I wasn't really in their close circle at school but they kindly include me. Depending what I have for lunch, dinner will be a sandwich. Have a good day all
Good morning from County Durham. Another chilly day ahead.
Yesterday my Christmas stash was sorted, wrapped and hidden away again. The earliest I've ever done it. A list of what is needed for GC requires attention when the parents make their mind up.
We're off to Morpeth later this morning for a wander, then some lunch. It's been a while since our last visit so let's see what we remember.
I love Friday's, that last working day of the week feeling has never left me.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from a very chilly and somewhat frosty Suffolk, much like the last few days. The lanes were ok when I ventured out to meet my friends for lunch.
I decided to pop into our nearest town before coming home to buy an Advent calendar from the bookshop. I had forgotten how difficult it is in November when the bright sun is still shining at about 3.30pm. In spite of putting on sun glasses and with the visor down, going round corners was sometimes scary!
I’m not going out until 2pm for a hair appointment and I shall hopefully leave to come home before the sun is so low. I expect to see my hairdresser skipping around the salon. She’s back at work after her hip replacement at the beginning of last month. Her messages since the op have been hilarious.
Hope today is a good one for all.
Good morning from a bright W Kent.
Out later for appointment with Consultant to get my cataracts done, I am almost looking forward to it!
DGD1 has developed tonsillitis but I was interested to hear that she was able to get antibiotics at the local pharmacy.
Happy birthday to your daughter gM
Good wishes to all
