You're right Whiff. Feeling stronger today, have a couple of old friends visiting who are keeping me distracted.
And you're right we have suffered much worse. Warrior Queens eh? I like that.

That does sound hard, Babs 💐 I prayed for you and your family members.

I'm guessing you were joking about the prayer, but why not try it? If there is no God, no harm done. If there is, and he wants a loving relationship with you as the Bible says, you could find that relationship. People do think they do and that God brings them comfort.

My husband always said every family is led/held together by the oldest competent woman. After my mum died, he said over to you now .

I remember when my parents and my sister-in-law's parents died, SisIL said "We've moved up now to take their place."
We weren't that old (in our 40s).

Tough time indeed Babs. Some good caring responses here. Troubles do seem to come in clusters don’t they. One thing it seems we have all learned by this stage is - this too will change.

There’s a lot of truth in that. So it’s important you look after yourself Babs, try and make some quiet time/or noisy if that’s your preference

Sorry to hear this Babs03. It does seem as if difficult things never seem to occur singly, and you’re certainly enduring several difficulties now and I send you a virtual hug and prayers and wishes for better, happier times to come💐.
I won’t be sorry to see the back of this year either, but won’t go into details. Take care.

Life does tend to chuck things at us in one go .... especially as we get older.
As an agnostic I do not pray, but have been known to send heavenwards a "Really!? ... could you not just give me a break!?" I will have send on of those up for you!

Babs, I know that feeling of waking up in the morning in sudden panic for what new scary thing will happen today.

Some periods in life are exhausting, full of worry and pain... but eventually, when the sunshine comes, you really do appreciate it.

You could try what I have done in the past - to look for and remember (say) 3 positives from each day. That is a way to help yourself through it.
They can be very small (like a pretty shadow on a wall or a job you didn't want to do that was actually not that bad) or they can be big (fingers crossed for one of these for you).

Just noticing small positives is good for the spirits and does give you strength.

This year hast been great. Few months ago turned over in bed
and fell out hitting my head on the bedside cabinet. Big lump on my forehead and great bruise on my face. A few weeks later fell down the stairs and bruised my ribs taking about 6 weeks to get pain free. End of OctoberI fell trying to get on a bus. Really bad cut on my shin which has now got infected. A few days after I falling I had a really bad bladder infection so antibiotics. Now on some more for the infected leg. My dd who has health problems lost her job so we are now trying to support her through this period. I am due to have an endoscopy on the 20th December as I have pains in my chest. Fed up really but I do pray as I have always done. I also have much to be grateful for; a lovely dh who looks after me, lovely family, comfortable home. So trying to take one day at a time.

Hi Babs03, sorry to hear about your house, family and other problems. I pray that you and others going through problems with their lives can see a bright light, happiness. No journey is smooth, hope all find peace and comfort in your cheerful place or here too.
I try to have faith and trust in God, it can be difficult.

Yes I know will pass, am more worried for the family. Our house can wait. And am being super positive with them right now. Shoulders back, sleeves rolled up.
But it does make me feel daunted 😟

There are times in life when you think 'I really can't do this any more. How much can one person/family take?' But somehow we do. Sending you and your family all good wishes and positive vibes Babs

Sorry to hear about all this you're going through. I hope that somewhere in all this you find time to have a few 'good' moments.

I have been though so many bad patches. Today I got into a conversation about Covid- the person was telling me she wouldn't have got through it without her dog.

I began telling her how tough it had been for me but stopped at the start of my story as it becomes unbelievable after a while.

Now I know life is one bad patch with a few bits of joy now and again.

Yes, I rediscovered my faith then and in the past few years found it an inexhaustible and invaluable source of support every single day.

So yes, give up atheism and start praying. The bad times won't stop but you'll have the strength to deal with them better.

Has anyone else ever had such a load drop on them in a short time?

The year I was 40 was an Annus Horribilis.
Other years have brought distressing problems too but not all at once.

I kept remembering the mantra "This too shall pass".
I did pray.

I’ve never sold a house but I’ve read that it’s one of the most stressful things you can do ( there needs to be a better system imo). So to have everything else go wrong on top of that…it’s no wonder you’re feeling down. I know bad things are happening to everyone around you but don’t forget to look after yourself…you can’t support others if you don’t look after yourself. x
