Oreo pointless discussion. Putin has failed to stop the encroachment of NATO onto its borders. What is so difficult to understand about this?

NATO exists BECAUSE of the threat Russia has posed since 1945. Russia does not exist because of NATO.

NATO acquired 2 new members after Ukraine was invaded. Both countries with century's long histories of neutrality because of the threat Russia now posed to them.

Why should Rusia have any control ove what comes up to its borders, that is the remit of the independent sovereign states that adjoin Russia.

One of those states is Ukraine. Why did Russia not respect their sovereign status up to ts border? Why did it feel, while others should ot encroach on Russi, it was free to walk into other countries and try and take them over.

Why are the people defend Russia's right to invade and colonise its neighbours, the ones that shout loudest about historic colonialism. Colonialism is either a bad thing and they should oppose Russia or an OK thing and they should be acepting of European countries invading and occupying countries elsewhere.

Maremia NATO created the conditions which have resulted in a possible World War 3. NATO consistently threatened Russia. It took Putin a long time to act in this situation. NATO needs to reconsider its position.

I suggest you apply to join Socialist Worker or whatever the current Militant groups call themselves. The ‘extreme left ‘ has always supported Putin against Ukraine.

I wish we could get past this “NATO poking the Russian Bear” thing. Be assured, any poking that has been done has been coming from the other side for years - and they’re still chancing their arm with incursions around our shores and in the air. Thank the Lord that NATO has been consistent in a cool handed approach to all this.

The big danger is cyber attacks. and damage to infrastructire, like the recent cuts to oil line and communication cables.

Putin does a lot of sabre rattling, but he knows that if he fires a nuclear weapon. Russia will be blown out of the water.

Russia, remember, now has NATO countries lining its borders from Finland right round to the Black Sea and its 4.500 kilometre Paciific coast is not far from the coast of Canada, also a NATO member. and the US. Alaska almost touches Russia.

If he fires anything nuclear, he will face retaliation from almost every country Russia borders. If he does go nuclear, it will be through an ally, like North Korea, not direct from Russia.

It doesn’t matter if it’s 5 or 10 million sign we have a Labour PM for the next 4 yrs maybe Starmer maybe not.

We made our beds, now we have to lie in them, if the report about 135 bn benefits cuts are true it’s going to be very uncomfortable, or even half that. It makes WFA look like a picnic in the park.
