Plus cheese on toast, spaghetti on toast etc.

I’ve started picking GC up from school ( -ages 4 to 7 ) and I have them until 6.00pm.
I just been giving them something on toast at around 4.30pm, plus a piece of fruit.
Is this ok?
Tbh I’m just too tired to do anything else.

oranges on toast That's a new on on me.
I do like a banana sandwich but not on toast.

My Grandma used to give me sugar sandwiches, apparently. It was a treat, I suppose sugar and butter had been rationed during the war. I remember the crunch of the sandwich but can't remember my Grandma at all.

there is nothing wrong with beans and/or cheese on toast served up by a cheerful happy Gran.
I do hope Kandinsky isn't getting so tired that she can't enjoy her DGC.

Yes it sounds like more than 2 GC. It must be tiring. I have no GC but 2+ youngsters till 6.00 pm makes me feel tired just reading it.

I am not meaning to sound critical, but only you know if its enough. If they eat on getting home then yes.

I think its up to the mum. She knows what Kandinsky is feeding them. If she feels they need more then she must give them something when they get home. Or sort out with Kandinsky some easily reheated meals. She is their gran not chauffeur, chef and nanny/play organiser. Sounds as though she is on her own which makes it more tiring.

I would also want to know if this is their only "real" meal.
If they have toast for breakfast I would not serve it again to be honest. My husband makes nearly all our bread (and is a spelt/old grains fanatic) so I know it's good bread but I would offer something other than toast if they'd eaten that earlier.

Maybe a sweet potato cooked in the oven (air fryer?) Could replace the toast? Still excellent with beans.

Roasted vegetables are easy too - with (say) orzo stirred in, or a stew of some sort can be reheated in smaller portions for little ones?

I am talking myself out of beans/eggs/avocado on toast is fine.
grin

I do it but also do "real" means for my grandchildren as needed.

If they like beans on toast, and it’s not every day then go for it.

Children can be notoriously picky about what they eat so you’ve already succeeded.
Mind you, at the end of the month I remember beans on toast or scrambled eggs on toast as all Mum could afford but we’re still here.
