Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.

We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.

By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.

I am off to my bed.

Thank you all for being extra special people. flowers moon]

Yes gillgran it’s here..

gillgran Thu 09-Jan-25 18:59:46

Pleased you successfully got to & from your appointments soop. These group hugs are always welcome, very comforting during some trying times.

I love those colours Jaxjacky, is that your new dress, under the pretty necklace?

Good to get out, Nannytopsy, whilst taking care of your new knee.

Well done to your lovely man, FGT, for his neighbourly good deed.

Warm thoughts to you all in this friendly place. x

‘Evening All’.

More snow here this morning and thicker this time. My kind community motivated man put on his big coat, trainers and grabbed a brush at lunchtime to clear all the decking in front of our 8 front doors that are open to the elements being on the top floor (of two levels). Then he sprinkled rock salt over the full area to keep everyone safe tonight from slipping. Actually, truth be told he said he’d enjoyed ‘playing out’. 😂

Nannytopsy Thu 09-Jan-25 18:04:53

Love the necklace Jax!
Glad you are safely home soops and hope you get good results.
We had a visit to a local nature reserve which has a good cafe overlooking some bird feeders which were alive with all varieties of tits. Such a pleasure to be out, even if it’s bitterly cold.

Jaxjacky Thu 09-Jan-25 17:45:08

Good to hear your trips went as well as they could *soop.
I got to the library today and stocked up on books, happy now as I’ll finish my current book tonight.
I bought a dress two days ago, most unlike me, last seen wearing as ‘proper’ one five years ago, but I’ve a weekend away for my birthday soon. Today I found a suitable necklace, again unusual, in the local charity shop for a couple of £’s - ready to rock 🙂
MrJ is slightly disconcerted as I live in jeans during the cooler months.
Omelettes for dinner, new potatoes and veg of some sort.
Stay warm all.

TillyTrotter Thu 09-Jan-25 17:10:25

Your home sounds very snug too Grandmabatty and I hope your oodie keeps your painful hip warm until it eases 💐

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Jan-25 16:58:30

I'm glad you are both home safely Soop.
I've been to the chiropodist this morning and pottered about and rested. I'm having a pain in the hip day. I suspect it's the cold exacerbating it so I have a nice warm oodie on as well as the heating. I'm watching Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot as a treat. Sausages and bacon for dinner tonight

TillyTrotter Thu 09-Jan-25 16:57:08

You must be mightily relieved soop. 💐 That journey is behind you and you can rest and recuperate in the comfort of Home - there is nothing like it x

A group hug can do wonders. I prescribe a super-special one for all our lovely Kitcheners, especially those in need of support and consolation.

Thanks to our kind and supportive neighbours, we both attended our hospital appointments. They drove a 220 mile round trip on our behalf. Mr Soop is to have a second skin graft very soon. My CT scan results will be forwarded to the latest surgeon so that he can decide whether or not he can repair the exceedingly large hernia. We all had lunch together in a pub and, thanks to the roads being clear and free from heavy traffic, we were home safe and sound by five o'clock.

My love is winging it's way to all our Kitcheners. Bless you. smile

Hello kitchen people.

I’m tucked up in bed after a busy day.

I drove to Oxford to B&Q. I had things to return and a storage box to buy,

Then the WI committee meeting. It went well and I think the rest of the committee understood that I am coming off the committee and giving up being Secretary after the AGM.

After a speedy dinner, which OH had waiting for me, we walked up to the village hall to the Local History Society meeting. We listened to an excellent illustrated talk on the village. We walked there and back in quite heavy snow.

I hope the Soops had positive hospital appointments today,

Sleep 💤 tight.

Evening everyone, especially all of you in the quiet corner. It’s cold but dry here in Suffolk still - I’m still waiting to get out for a walk! I have decided to get some private physiotherapy, as the NHS don’t give any hands on sessions any more. I want some reassurance that I am on the right track.

brook2704 Wed 08-Jan-25 21:42:59

Thank you grandmabatty they’re all ok, just DD2 getting stressed out today over various things and needing a wee break - thanks for asking
Be careful out and about Redcar it’s very slippery
Love to all ❤️

Redcar Wed 08-Jan-25 19:57:16

yiayia, sorry to hear about your DDiL’s father, condolences to all the family.
nannyG4 and doodle, thinking of you both, the weather doesn’t help at the moment, hopefully we’ll feel more positive with longer and brighter days.
I hope the soops are safely home now and that their hospital appointments went well.
No snow for us today despite weather warnings. I managed a short walk this afternoon, bundled up in thick coat, hat and gloves and using both crutches! It was nice to get some fresh air.
💕 and hugs all round!

Doodle Wed 08-Jan-25 19:40:52

Thanks all for your kind thoughts. It’s so good to have somewhere that offers support and kindness.
Yiayia Brook and Jaxjacky thank you.
Thank you to grandmabatty and Grannmarie
NannyG4 life is even harder when you’re not well. Hopefully the days will get lighter soon and the sun will lift our spirits I hope.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 08-Jan-25 19:30:07

‘Evening All’.

There’s so much sorrow in the kitchen tonight and not only for all those sitting quietly in the corner. All we can do really is to hold tight and trust, as Captain Tom reassured us, that “tomorrow will be a better day”. x

Grandmabatty Wed 08-Jan-25 19:25:16

Nannyg4 ❤️ and doodle too and anyone who needs it. Brook I hope dd2 and your dgc are ok

Yiayia4 Wed 08-Jan-25 19:14:16

NannyG4❤️

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Jan-25 19:00:33

Hi all from a wet/icy South, rain and sleet at +2, apart from a quick garage visit I’ve not been out.
I really don’t know what to say NannyG4, Doodle and others, I wish I could hug and make it better ❤️
Sad for your DIL Yia it’s a wicked disease.
Fingers crossed the soop are home in the warm after successful appointments.
Beautiful brook

brook2704 Wed 08-Jan-25 18:04:02

NannyG4 ❤️

NannyG4 Wed 08-Jan-25 18:02:01

Good afternoon…again sitting safely in the quiet corner. I’m still feeling unwell, both physically and mentally. I’ve not been out since Friday so I feel like a hermit, I never thought I would say this but I feel so so alone and lonely, this is first time I’ve been poorly since DH passed and I do miss him…..like you said Doodle I’m certainly not the same person and have no confidence, no future and nothing to look forward to…..sorry for the moan.
I hope the Soops are home safely and aren’t too tired. Hopefully we will have an update in time, hospital appointments are sometimes exhausting and draining.
I think I may have a little sherry whilst sitting here…..just the one!!

My love, prayers and strength to you ALL . I’m sorry I don’t mention you all by name, my brain is fuddled. Thankyou for your support….

Fondest love❤️🙏💐

dustyangel Wed 08-Jan-25 18:00:06

Beautiful brook and you know what they say about Red sky at night…… smile, though that might just mean clear but cold in your neck of the woods!

Yiayia i am so pleased for you and MrY at his cancer clearance.

Sorry you’re feeling down FGYT flowers A group hug sounds good to me too.

Your family look so picturesque walking through the woods.

We don’t have any slippery snow to worry about but the calçadas are slick with all the rain we’ve been having, I think the fear of falling makes my balance worse too.

brook2704 Wed 08-Jan-25 17:10:51

A really nice wintry sky at the top of our road this evening 🥶

brook2704 Wed 08-Jan-25 17:08:41

I’d like to join in the group hug too please, much appreciated thank you all 🤗

So sorry to hear about your DILs Dad Yia sending condolences to all the family 💐

Another bitterly cold snowy day up here, nothing is melting and the snow is frozen and slippery. I got to my hairdressers appointment ok for a much needed colour so feel better now after a bit of pampering. I’m just waiting for DD2 and the two DGC to arrive, it’s bit of a long story but they’re all staying here tonight so I’ll be busy later

Doodle and others in the quiet corner, I can never find the right words but wanted to send love and to say you’re all often in my thoughts ❤️

Yiayia4 Wed 08-Jan-25 16:53:13

Doodle and Redcar thinking of you both🌹🌹
Hoping the Soops are now home after successful appointments.
Today we have had some sad news our DDIL’s dad passed away this morning. He has had Alzheimer’s for the last 8 years and for the last week or so slowly faded away.He was a lovely man and my DIL is heartbroken, it’s very sad.
Still no snow here looks like it will miss us.
Take care everyone and keep warm,
