Just popping in briefly with coffee cake and hot chocolate and to say that it’s Wedding Week for us! Much excitement and tomorrow I should have all my family under my roof. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Soop's kitchen for caring and sharing...
(1001 Posts)Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.
We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.
By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.
I am off to my bed.
Thank you all for being extra special people.

I know how they feel, having lost my beautiful Billy at the end of October. I wasn`t going to have any more, but now I`m on my own, I think I will, I want/need the company. I`ll wait until I`m properly up and running though, having just come out of hospital.
Good morning all.
After slightly more positive news in the afternoon my D and GC were called to the vet at 11;30 pm to say goodbye to their much loved cat.
They all held him while the deed was done and are very distressed today.
They still have his mother and brother and a dog but like all animal lovers he was a member of the family and will be missed as such.
So much worse going on in the world but….
Thinking of the soops in the quiet corner 🙋♀️😘
Well finally I'm feeling slightly more human. DH has returned to work. So much for his week off and out plans for Christmas and New Year. When we did finally make it out of bed it was to transfer to the sofa. I have never seen so much TV and drank copious tea. I haven't even been able to read properly as my head hurt and my eyes ached hence my absence from the kitchen. Mind you we probably dodged a bullet as the planned trip to Tenby would have taken us bang through the amber weather warning for snow. I'm now going to go back and catch up on all the happenings in the kitchen.
Hello kitchen people, and especially the Soops!
The weather here was grim and damp so I didn’t go to church. I did a bit of filing and typed up a first draft of my Secretary’s report for the AGM.
I cooked beef and dumplings for dinner. Just what is needed on a grim day. I made a Canary pudding mixture with glacé cherries and put it in dariole moulds. I steamed two and put the rest in the freezer. We had custard too.
Sleep 💤 tight.
We had quite a bit of snow in the night, but it all went quite quickly when the torrential rain started this morning. It rained most of the day but is very mild now., no hot water bottle needed tonight!
I spent some time trying to revive a houseplant that was neglected while I was away. I’ve taken off the dead leaves and given it a lot of water, so fingers crossed it might survive. I don’t like to give up on plants!
I hope all goes well for those with hospital appointments and tests, and that those with the horrible stomach bug will soon feel better.
‘Evening All’.
It has rained steadily here all afternoon Gradually melting the snow. If it’s freezing tonight, then tomorrow morning might be pretty treacherous. Trafford schools go back tomorrow. The roads will be busy, so let’s hope the gritters are out tonight.
My tum Is feeling much better today. We had pasta with tuna sweetcorn and a plain tomato sauce for dinner and I was surprisingly hungry. A good sign.
Hoping all those under par feel better soon and that all hospital appointments go well next week with reassurance added it into the mix.
Teacher Mummy took this photo this morning of my son-in-law, L’il Miss and the Boy Wonder in the park at 9am. Snowball fights were brilliant apparently! I can’t believe how tall the Boy Wonder is these days. He’s shot up at 12y and is nearly as big as his dad now!
Sorry to hear hulahoop, nannyG4 and Yia are all feeling poorly, hope things improve soon, take care
Hoping all goes well with the soops hospital appointments and Yias DH too
A nice party to look forward to nannytopsy 👍
Thank you baggs all the best to you too x
Hi all from a very wet village down south, boy has it rained, warmer though, I’m envious of proper snow
So good to hear from you soop safe journeys to your appointments and 🤞for good news.
Similar Yia sorry to hear you’ve been ill, best wishes for Tuesday and pleased both you and Grandmabatty are improving.
Only the remnants of chocolates left from Christmas, I can close the blinds without negotiating the tree, which has been brilliant and is now languishing outside.
Roasting chicken in the oven, back to volunteer phone tomorrow, it will be busy.
All the best for tomorrow, soops! Thank goodness for your lovely friends.
Squiffy is still around as far as I know. You could perhaps send her a PM.
All good wishes for a good 2025 to all Kitchen visitors 💐
Evening from a very white over Yorkshire ,it is about 6inch we have plenty of snowmen looking out for us.Son who lived 30_40 miles from us sent video,s of Gc sledging ,it's raining now so it's becoming slushy .We haven't been out since going to Dd on Nyday I still not 100%.and oh now coughing and sneezing .Sending (((hugs))) to those feeling low. Hope all tests have good results .
Dear lovely ladies………
Lovely to hear from Soop and my best wishes for you and Mr Soops hospital appointments 🙏.
I hope you are all keeping warm. Unfortunately I’ve the dreaded flu like virus so am feeling pretty sorry for myself . My son in law and grandchildren popped in to see me, at a distance, so that cheered me up. First time I’ve been poorly since DH passed, so no one to fetch me a drink in bed etc, but I managed. I’m up now by the fire knitting my squares. I was due to travel up North tomorrow for a break with my sisters and mum but have cancelled. Looking at the weather though I wonder if the trains will be running smoothly.
Yiayia4 good luck with your DH’s appointment next week🙏.
Wishing you all a good week ahead, love to each and every one of you.
Much love xx
.
Yiayia
Every good wish for Tuesday.
We have friends going through the same thing, for a prostate problem, and waiting for updates on test results is so hard.
You are positive , that is huge.
They have a diagnosis but now await a prognosis, I send positive thoughts to you both.
Thank you Grandmabatty feeling better now,I hope you are too.
Oh Yiayia my sympathy. I hope it leaves you quickly.
Utbb we used to have the mouse problem quite often thanks to our previous cat. We bought a couple of humane traps which we baited with peanut butter. It was amazing how quickly the varmints were caught!
Sorry to hear about your D's family cat, poor little thing.
Good luck with the appointments soop and Mr S. Safe journeys.
Kind thoughts for everyone with worries of whatever sort.
So good to hear from you Soop and hope the appointments go well.
Our New Year’s Eve meal was excellent and nice to have bit of normality.Unfortunately News Years Day I managed to get the gastric bug as it seems a few of you have. Not nice at all but thankfully doesn’t last very long.
DH has his next colonoscopy on Tuesday. We have fingers and toes crossed for a good result.I’m feeling hopeful. We have DGS4 tomorrow (inset day) so that will keep him busy and take his mind of it all.
Take care if you still have snow and ice it’s all gone here.
Hello soop! It’s lovely to hear from you and good luck for your forthcoming appointments. It’s good that you have friends who can help.
The tree has gone and suddenly the sitting room looks twice the size. Yesterday there 3 small ones and 9 large in here - it was sooo loud! DiL is the noisiest person I know and she had the nerve to complain about the noise. It was lovely to have everyone together but so peaceful now 😅.
DH is 70 and DS is 40 in mid May. DH doesn’t know but we are all going out for lunch for a 110th celebration, otherwise he does so much work.
No snow here now, just a bit of slush here and there. The staples will be removed from my knee tomorrow - huzzah!
Hope everyone has a good evening
Greetings to you lovely lot. No snow here in bonnie Kintyre. Keep warm and safe if you should be surrounded by the white stuff.
We have spent the morning dismantling the Christmas decorations. It was a tiring necessity. Now, we can relax. We both have Glasgow hospital appointments to prepare for. Sadly, not at the same hospital. Friends are therefore motoring me to my appointment. After which, we hope to travel further on to collect Mr Soop. Doing so, will relieve him of a wearying four hour bus journey back home.
Some family members have had the dreaded lurgy. I trust those of Granspals who have been smitten will be now be on the road to recovery.
By the by, does anyone know if Squiffy still frequents Gransnet? I received a lovely card from her but cannot find her home address.
We are about to relax and count our blessings. I wish that the year 2025 is extra kind to you all.
Sorry to hear about your DDs poorly cat uttb, hoping something can be done to help him
It’s not been above freezing all day here, there’s still frozen snow and ice on the ground, we’ve not been out so the car is still frozen up too. The forecast is for much of the same all week so thermals are definitely on
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better grandmabatty and you had a pleasant afternoon with your mum. Hope there’s no snow overnight for tomorrow’s early start but take care on the roads with the ice
Doodle sorry to hear about the lost jewellery ❤️
Evening Kitcheners. Today has been ok. I made it to family breakfast and managed to eat without feeling unwell. We had a nice time and said farewell to my aunt and uncle who are off to Spain soon. This afternoon I visited mum. I had stayed away because I was unwell so it was particularly nice to see her in good form, chatty and being cheeky.
Tonight I'm going to make a Chinese style curry for dinner. The snow has threatened all day but come to naught. Fingers crossed for a snow free night because tomorrow is early childcare day. I'm feeling better in myself too. I hope everyone has had a good day.
Our cats used to catch shrews, interview them under the kitchen table and then lose interest. The best way to catch them was by laying wellington boots along the skirting boards because eventually the visitor would seek sanctuary and could be transported outside and dropped over the back fence. We did this many times once we worked out that the shrews ran anti-clockwise round our kitchen. Good luck!
Good morning all from a snowy Stockport although it is disappearing quickly.
I am sitting in my sitting room ( how appropriate is that) watching and waiting for a mouse to appear.
Molly brought it in, seemingly quite unharmed by the way it ran away when she dropped it.
I called for my S but he couldn’t find it, we have quite a lot of furniture, so I shut Molly out of the room and closed the door.
I have found a couple of droppings on the carpet but no sign of the mouse.
I am hoping it has found a spot to squeeze through somewhere and has gone into the cavity wall or possibly under the door and is elsewhere in the house.
Watch this space.
My D and adult GC are very distressed this morning, one of their three cats was found to have paralysed back legs and was crying pitifully.
They got him to the emergency vet and are waiting for a phone call this afternoon after he has been checked over.
He can’t be X-rayed until tomorrow when the full staff are there.
I think he won’t be coming home.
When myGD gets back from the gym we have furniture to move back after taking the tree down, it was bigger than I thought.
Have the best day you can everyone and stay safe and warm.
NannyG4 sorry just seen your post. No, I’ve not had any luck in finding my silver heart. To be honest it’s small and I could have lost it anywhere. I will have to order another but I’m still sad about losing it.
Glad you are getting out and about with friends, these dark short days don’t help those of us on their own do they?
Sending love to the Soops .
